What do you think of Snape?

Hero?

Villain with a tragic backstory?

And do you forgive him of his cruel treatment of his students?

First of, in my opinion, I think Snape is neither hero or villain. And I don't know if I forgive him.

He had a choice: Dark Arts or Lily? And he chose Dark Arts.

And he probably would've stayed a Death Eater if Voldemort hadn't killed Lily. He didn't care if Voldemort killed James or Harry. He only cared if Lily lived. But James and Harry made Lily happy. And Lily's happiness was what really mattered. She could've lived, but would've been so devastated with loss.

James got better. He really loved her.

Snape loved her too, just kind of in a different way. O understand his past and all. And I think the "Always" is cute and how his patronous is a doe after all this time.
