Chapter 3
Halfway through dinner my cell phone rang.
<Stephan>
“Hey you” I answered with. It was pretty safe. I’d just stay away from saying names and no one would know I was speaking with a vampire. I didn’t need that headache. I’m pretty sure Brian hadn’t even told Connor anything about Stephan.
"Where are you at? Your party started 3 hours ago."
I looked at the clock. It was already 10:30.
"Shit. I'll be there when I can." I closed the phone. It was time to ditch the werewolves.
Carlos nudged me, "What party is this?"
I looked at him, "One that you're not invited to."
Carlos smirked, "There is no party that you're invited where the whole pack is not welcome."
I chuckled, "Trust me. You wouldn't like it." Though I would love to see their faces when they realize they’re at a party consisted of mostly vampires.
I pulled a cigarette out of my purse and looked for my lighter. The craving was getting at me for just one. This wasn’t a smoke-free restaurant anyway.
"I don't think so sweet cheeks." Mason leaned over the table and took the cigarette. "Save cancer for your next life."
I sighed as I looked at the broken cigarette. "I hate you guys."
Mason smirked and leaned back in his chair, "Grayson leaving you must have been hard on you since you hate the whole fucking pack and smoke cancer sticks." Mason knew that would get me. That’s the only reason he said that.
It felt like someone punched me. Brian’s head snapped towards Mason, probably giving him an evil eye. I locked eyes with Amanda for a moment. She looked so sorry for me. She knew how devastated I was when Grayson said those things to me. I shook my head and got up. I left the restaurant, without causing too much of a scene. I walked towards the vampire district.
"Casey. Wait." Conner was catching up with me. He must have had words with Mason to have taken so long to catch up with me. I was only a block away from Stephan when Connor caught up.
"What?" I yelled not stopping. If he wanted to talk with me, he’d have to keep up.
"He didn't mean it. He just wanted to press your buttons." Mason definitely knew the right buttons to push to get a response from me.
I took off my jacket. I wouldn't need it where I was going. I would soon be liquored up. That alone kept me warm. I dropped it on the ground knowing full well that my brother would pick it up.
"Where are you going?" He asked beside me, finally catching up with me.
"To my party." I looked over at him, "You know, the one you're not invited to."
He stopped walking when he looked in front of us. The brick buildings that signified the vampire district were the only things in front of us.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" He yelled in a growl. He was very pissed off.
I smirked at him over my shoulder, walking deeper into vampire district. "No, big brother, I'm not kidding."
“Vampires are not safe Casey!” Connor yelled to me as I walked farther into the brick buildings.
“Says the werewolf!” I yelled back at him. There’s no way that he could argue that vampires were more dangerous than werewolves. They were just about the same in my eyes.
I walked to Stephan's house and walked right in. They never kept the door locked. He gracefully walked over to me and snaked his arm around my waist.
"We've been waiting for you." I smiled at him. "We're going to take you to a club now that we can get you legally wasted." He’s very good looking. Most of the vampires I’ve met have been very good looking. He had his blonde hair combed back, not in a greasy way, and the baby blue shirt he was wearing went amazing with his light blue eyes. He wasn’t as bulky as the werewolves, but he wasn’t thin. He was a good size for me.
I smiled and kissed his cold, but full lips. I really liked Stephan; he liked to tell me how attractive he found me. He liked spending time with me. Stephan liked me for me, not because he had to.
Ashley, one of the first vampires in the coven to accept me as Stephan’s girlfriend, took me into her room. We got ready. She had my outfit all picked out. It was a very low cut white mini dress. The V went all the way down to my navel. She gave me a dangly silver necklace that went nice with the dress. We wore the same size shoe, so she let me borrow a pair of white strappy heels. After putting in earrings that went with the necklace I was ready to go party.
I held his hand as his group of friends followed us to a club. It wasn't in the vampire district. There would be a mix of supernatural races.
The club was pretty big. It reminded me of an abandoned warehouse from the outside. The inside of the club was amazing. There was a huge bar, fully stocked with every kind of alcohol imaginable. It was so popular because they served to every supernatural being. The dance floor took up half of the space. It had a fancy laser show that looked pretty amazing because of the fog. There were speakers all over the building. There were areas secluded as the VIP areas. They could be cut off from view with a curtain if that’s what you wanted. The bathrooms were down a very creepy hallway that I absolutely hated going through. There were a few extra rooms I’d never been in. I had no idea what they were for.
It wasn't until 2AM that people really started showing up. By then I was very tipsy. Stephan wasn't a big dancer, so I was dancing with the other people in the club. Stephan liked to watch.
The backlight from the dance floor hit me when we walked in. I wasn’t hard to spot in the club. My white dress stuck out like a sore thumb, especially with that black light.
At first I was embarrassed, then I started drinking. I liked the attention I was getting from the males in the club. No one would confront me, knowing they’d have to deal with Stephan, if not Stephan, there was usually Brian. It would be dangerous for guys to talk to me.
There was a power shift in the club, most of the party-goers wouldn’t have noticed. Only the powerful supernaturals would feel the shift. The vampires weren't the most feared thing in the club anymore. No matter how safe this place felt to the supernaturals, no one felt secure around werewolves. I continued to dance not showing that I felt the change. I glanced at Stephan. His face was impassive as he looked at the new arrivals.
I looked to see exactly who I expected. Conner, Brian, Grayson, Mason, Carlos, Jack, Eddie and Chris. These boys had a reputation and had been defending it for the past 3 years. I sighed. The fun was over before it even really started.
I hated to admit that they all looked good dressed up. They looked relaxed, but I could tell they were stressed. They were probably here looking for me. I didn't want them to make their way over to me before I could get back to Stephan. I slowly started making my way to Stephan. If I quickly went to him, they’d spot me easily. I regretted the color of my dress.
I knew they wouldn't follow me into the vampire’s sectioned off area. They weren’t going to be in town long enough to deal with the vampires. I wouldn’t want them to start problems between Stephan and me. It was their problem that they didn’t like vampires, not mine. When I looked back for Stephan, he wasn't where he used to be sitting. I stopped. Then I felt his cold hand grab mine.
"Shall we meet your...pack?" Stephan offered in my ear.
I shook my head, "No. That would be a bad idea."
He smirked, "They don't scare me."
I nodded, "I know. Maybe another time. Now wouldn't be good timing."
Stephan was powerful; he was the leader of his own coven, a huge coven from what I’ve heard. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close for the one slow song of the night.
"It will never be good timing." He said softly in my ear.
I sighed and put my head on his cold shoulder. "No, it'll never be good timing."
I felt eyes on me, burning through me. I knew they were the guys, fuming at the fact that I was with Stephan.
Stephan put his lips to my ears, “They're all staring."
I nodded. "They're probably deciding the best method of killing me." I halfway joked.
Stephan chuckled, "You're going to be fine. Otherwise the seers would already have them in custody."
I sighed. "Maybe they’re just waiting."
Stephan kissed my neck. I felt the glares intensify.
"They’re fuming now." There was amusement in his voice.
I laughed. "I bet."
"Let's go sit then." He offered. That’s what I liked about Stephan. He never ordered me around. He never had me do something I didn’t want to do. He let me make decisions. I knew he wouldn’t want to dance, since the music was no longer slow.
I shook my head. “I want to dance more.” I had alcohol to work off.
He nodded, “I won’t be far.”
He went over to where his vampires were sitting. Ashley, one of Stephan’s coven members, joined me on the dance floor. We bought shots off of a girl walking around with a tray full of them. Ashley and I had a lot of fun dancing.
