Season concept art+some lore(plus pls help with some animal symbolism-)
Google isn't helping much so...
Give me a few animals and/or plants for each Season which you think symbolizes the Season best(ex. Rabbits, Butterflies, and basically every flower for Spring. Foxes, Deer, and Acorns for Autumn)
Do as many as you want, maybe add like 1 mythological animal for each for some spice
Maybe also do your own mini reaserch on what the animal or Season means and how they connect, again Google ain't helping
(Okay this is me from a few hours later but I was like "Wait why am I rejecting animals that LIVE in each season, those work perfectly too. And I'm just like... welp... but give me the animals and plants anyway please-)
Oh yeah you're probably wondering why I just post this and demand you to name some animals and plants all of sudden, well I'm designing some true forms for each of my Season Personifications and I need the animals for symbolic reasons
Don't know what I mean? Have some really quick concept sketches(which took me all afternoon on and off since I started writing this...)
Autumn
Laziest of all the concepts so far, since he was the first I doodled and JUST found some animals to pair with him
Also antler shapes are hard...
Summer
Google literally only gave me a lion and a dragon for animals that symbolize/represent Summer, so I had to work with that
Tho I probably added a phoenix in there too
Now how do I put a dolphin into the design...
Spring
In my opinion the most "complete" out of all the concepts, cuz I thought about and doodled him before this one
I love Spring basically
Also you may notice that he literally has 2 sets of ears, one deer and one rabbit. Well the first design had the rabbit ears be regular rabbit ears and placed above the deer ones, but it looked too alien so I instead put them below the deer ears and made them floppy
Also the butterfly/bird wing combo needs some... adjustments...
Winter
I was so tempted to put wolf ears too... but his head was getting crowded
And yes, that floofy mass around his neck is probably snow clouds
So yeah, thats it, but remember, these are just concept art, they're just there to give me an idea for what the final design will look like
Anyway, I did say there was gonna be a little lore about these guys here, so here we go(btw questions are very accepted cuz I'm bad at explaining things)
Basically the Seasons' truest forms constantly change with the Earth. One megaannum Spring has megaloceros antlers and the next the ears of it's descendants. Nature changes and their true forms reflect that. I've been considering changing Summer and Spring's wings, Summer to some bird and Spring's separate pairs or bird and butterfly wings. The reason is because, well, a bird with half dragon or butterly wings doesn't exactly exist in real life...(except maybe the wallcreeper-
L
ook at dem wings. So perttie--)
Again, these guys are embodiments of nature, a bird flying around with chitin wings doesn't exactly seem natural in our world(iTS HARDER TO EXPLAIN THAN I THOUGHT DAMMIT-).
Yeah I wanna stop now, my anxiety spiked
But like... theres also other themes I want to try to convey through their designs..
Spring
-Birth/Rebirth
-Purity
-Childhood
-Transition
-Outwardness(Shared between both warm Seasons)
Summer
-Youth
-Warmth
-Romance
-Comfort
-Potential
-Relaxation(cuz vacations)
-Light/The yiffin Sun(cuz I like to associate each Season with a time of day, Spring is the dawn, Summer the day, Autumn the dusk, and Winter the night)
Autumn
-Maturity
-Balance(cuz Libra)
-Inwardness(Shared between both cold Seasons)
-Malencholy
-Change
-Mortality(wow real fun)
Winter
-Old age
-Detachment
-Darkness/The Night+stars(Hey I heard the night looks better during Winter)
-Duality
-Lonliness
-Regality
-Friggin Death(rEAL F U N -)
Jesus I've been sounding like those horoscope websites or something all chapter haven't I?...
Also I already this, but I like associating the Seasons with times of day, but I also like associating thwm with the 4 cardinal directions. Winter is north(because in alot of stories at involve 'journeying to the north' have the north being colf af), Spring is east(rising sun), Summer is south(kinda same reason as Winter), and Autumn is west(setting sun)
Jeez I'm just rambling at this point, I'm kinda rushing this aren't I?
But yeah, I'm gonna stop embarrassing myself now...
