Cells at Work!! and Cells at Work! Code Black(Trailers+Review)

(Alternate title: me trying to sound like a nerd for over 1000 words)

Oh frick--

They released the english trailer for Cells at Work!!(Yes that is indeed the name of the 2nd season. Pretty sure they'll add a 3rd exclamation point) and its lookin good

I actually saw another season 2 trailer earlier this year and it was suppose to come out this year. But ya know, COVID and stuff happened

But yay now I can understand the names of the new cells and pathogens here

Its obvious that this trailer focuses alot on the skin, since it starts with the skin being irrated by something and an inflammatory response soon happening(I would know the feeling, I get that way too many times. My skin is irrated by everything and I constantly have to take Antihistamines unless I want to be itchy 24/7 and making it impossible to sleep. I f*cking sucks), but also with a debut of a new cell, the Langerhans Cells(fancy). From the 30 seconds of reaserch I did, the Langerhans Cell is basically a type of Dentritic Cell that resides in the skin. They're also present in all layers of epidermis, or the outermost layer of skin(or at least the part under the dead part of epidermis. Yes, look at your arms, all you're seeing are dead skin skin cells). So that most likely means the first few episodes(or one of the first few) will focus mainly on the skin and debut a few skin cells and what it looks like in this world
But also theres this one scene showing blood being taken from the body, perhaps a blood test due to the Virus...

Okay, now let's talk about the pathogens here

I kinda fangirled both in good and bad way for the first one. The Dengue Virus. Oh boy...
You probably already know this cuz I say this alot of times, but I live in the Philippines and oh boy are we familiar with this b*tch of a virus. For those who aren't familiar, Dengue, like Malaria, is a mosquito-borne virus and causes Dengue fever, and mainly affects tropical and sub-tropical regions. Like other mosquito-borne diseases alot of people die from it around the during the summer(or rather more accurately dry) months. Heck, last or last last summer a student from one of the schools in our city died from in, my close cousin went through it around 2 years ago, became hospitalized, and had to take blood tests like every hour from each finger. It was not fun basically. So you would understand why I'm kinda excited to see what the Dengue Virus would be like in this world.

Speaking of which can I say I love how in this world, Viruses aren't people but stuff. The Flu Virus was floating orb things that latched onto healthy cells, here it seems the Dengue Virus are tengu masks.
I mean like, thats what viruses basically are, they're not complex like cells or bateria, they're just proteins incased in fat. Their only instinct is to make copies of itself by tricking other cells to produce them. So sorry to everyone who made COVID-19 characters for this world, they're just not how viruses work here lol

Next pathogen, Helicobacter Pylori, or H. Pylori. Helicobacter Pylori can enter your digestive tract and after many years, they can cause ulcers in your stomach or the uppeer part of your small intestine. For some people, this can even lead to stomach cancer, not so good. This is probably what WBC meant by "He finally got out of the acid", it's stomach he's talking about and the guy is probably peaking through an ulcer or something
Also btw its named Helicobacter Pylori because its a helical-shaped bateria, but I still find it funny and clever how the creator put helicopter blades on his guy(like what they did with Staphylococcus Aureus, its name literally talks about its grape-like formation and Aureus means gold. Clever)

Lastly, Acne. Jeez... I'm sure most you went through puberty and this is like the most annoying(and damaging) thing ever for an early teen. We all know what Acne is, but lets get technical. Acne is a skin diesease that occurs when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells and causes whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples(pimples are the ones with pus in them). They mainly appear on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders. Acne cab actually affect all ages, including children, but it mainly affects teenagers cuz our skin produces more oil in this stage of our life. The priest looking dudes must be the cells in the Sebaceous glands, which produces sebum. Sebum is actually that oil we just talked about, and the glands appear most in the face, hence why alot of acne appeard there. The Sebaseous glands, located mainly in hair follicles, produces sebum, which is meant to lubricate the skin and hairs in mammals and keep them from becoming dry. Lets get back to Acne for a sec. Acne is caused by the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes (or formerly Propionibacterium acnes. I am just gonna call it Cuti from now on cuz jesus that name is hard to type) and is reletively pretty slow-growing. They actually live on the skin of alot of healthy adults in pores and hair follicles and live on fatty acids from sebum... so a blockage will caused them to multiply and infect and follicle... ah... I see
Screw you Acne

Also theres that panda looking thing at the end with WBC, and it looks like its on the Cells' side and I have no f*cking clue what it is. I don't think it's a drug or medicine since I'm pretty sure they're robots in this world... Idk really

So yeah, thats it, thats the Cells at Work!! trailer

Onto Code Black!

For those who don't know, Code Black is a spin-off of Cells at Work! and unlike the original manga/series which takes place in a healthy body, Code Black takes place in an abused, alcoholic, and unhealthy body

You know what see for yourself

Chills. Lots of chills...

So yeah, thats the trailer. I did actually see the manga trailer a few months ago and it was basically the same thing

Also I saw a page from the manga showing the cells trying to get rid of nicotine, so thats interesting

Okay onto the review

Can I just say I love how literally every body is different. In the OG world, White Blood Cells where all male and Platelets wore loose T-shirts. Here, White Blood Cells are all female and don't have as much skin protection as the ones in the OG world, Platelets here also where collared dresses, at least I guess for the females. This isn't he first time we see this kind of thing, in the last episode of season 1, Hemorrhagic Shock pt. 2, we see in the flashback from the new Red Blood Cells on how they got sucked up from their world and into theirs the differences. The new Blood Cells of course where different jackets, the White Blood Cells seem to where SWAT-like clothes, and the Platelets also where collared dresses.
I just love that detail I'm sorry

Also btw, the body Code Black takes place in is actually a male body, cuz I've seen a few pages of the manga and one of the chapters involve the cells trying to get a successful erection(yep) and we actually get to see the Sperm Cells(also the testes.. yeah), which are oddly adorable by the way

They're cute and fancy wHY ARE THEY FANCY--

Also sob in the fact the person this is taking place in is probably only doing the self-naughties and these Sperm probably aren't gonna meet any Egg Cells when they get ejected...

So yeah, I don't have much else to say other than I am super excited for this spin-off anime, I've been waiting for one for like forever

So have a nice day, noon, or night

Thank you and goodbye
