Epilogue
Phuket, Southern Thailand — 1838.
Two Years, Five Months Later.
Kai sat flat on the back shore of the beach and watched with a scold on his face while Pol, the smiling idiotic alpha who his omega seemed to favor deeply, played with Venn in his arms in the opposite direction, some several yards away.
To say he despised the two alphas his omega kept as friends would've been an understatement. Words were not enough to describe how badly he loathed them with every fiber in his soulless body. Just their obnoxious presence was enough to make Kai want to rip his own eyes out. Or better yet; rip their throats out for even existing.
Unfortunately, he couldn't do whatever he pleased — or Tee and Venn would get upset. Damn them both! Soon his son might start believing the two idiotic alphas were his real fathers!
Kai gritted his teeth and went back to poking the fireplace with a stick. He would most certainly be replaced — he would slaughter them before that ever happened! Of course. He would take Tee back to Nan; he preferred Nan. The forest alongside its dangers screamed home. It was cooler there and more calm, too. The woods didn't have any ugly seashells and stupid sand that always got on his toes easily. He wouldn't have to put up with the nosey alphas either!
Kai could vividly remember the first time he'd met those two...
"... And when they get here, please be nice to them. They already have a bad impression of you," Tee said with a cheeky grin, gently rocking a sleeping Venn back and forth in his arms while he watched his alpha chopping up carrots.
Kai had taken up a liking to cooking long since his childhood. However, when he'd become wayward, choosing to slaughter everyone and everything he came across for his meals after his brother's death, he'd stopped. It was only when Tee left him that he started craving home-cooked meals; much like the ones his omega made for him, had he begun digging through the kitchen drawers and scrambling to create some resemblance of Tee's warm meals. It made him remember what he once loved. Now the thought of putting Tee back into the kitchen repulsed him greatly. Tee was a good cook; Kai gave him credit for that. However, Kai prided himself on the idea he was so much better... Tee agreed too.
A low growl rolled out of Kai's throat and he unintentionally jammed the knife too deep into the cutting board, causing the wood to crack. "Why should I care what they think of me?" he bit out through a tightly clenched jaw.
Tee clicked his tongue, a habit he'd picked up from Kai. "Because I do," he said, pouting with big, doe gleamy eyes that somehow always worked on Kai's stupid heart. "Please Kai."
Kai rolled his eyes and went back to chopping his carrots. "I'll try," he mumbled, not really meaning it. He just didn't want Tee to complain about those stupid alphas while he cooked up his culinary artwork. "But if they start with any —"
The door was pushed open and in walked a smiling, rather tall, golden-colored skin alpha who Kai assumed was Pol, a leopard hybrid, based on Tee's annoyingly vivid description. There was another alpha tagging along beside Pol; equally tall and white as snow with bushy eyebrows and more serious-looking. He must've been Kinn, the lion hybrid.
"Where's Vee-Vee!?" the golden-skin — Pol, burst with glee in his voice the second he stepped foot inside.
They're calling HIS SON Vee-Vee?
What the actual fuck?
Kai turned his sour face in Tee's direction and raised an eyebrow. "Remind me again why they don't knock? — And why is he calling Venn Vee-Vee?!" he hissed out only for Tee's ears.
Tee gulped, chuckling awkwardly. "Be nice," was all he said before shuffling over to greet the two alphas. "Pol, be quiet — Vee-Vee's sleeping..."
Kai rolled his eyes; he was anything but nice.
While Kai prepared dinner, he eyed the two alphas suspiciously with a scold on his face and an unknowing pout on his lips. He hated them already. They were all smiles and laughs while they sat on the floor with Tee and Venn — not even batting an eye at him. It was as if Kai was invisible! The disrespect... When Tee was seeking pity after he ran away, he must've told them some really awful things about Kai. Kai clicked his tongue at the thought while he dished out four bowls of gaeng hung lay and plain rice for his unwanted guests.
"Tee, come help me," he called out when he finished.
However, to Kai's dismay, before Tee could get up, Kinn was quick on his feet, "That's alright, I'll get it," he chimed in, all nice and thoughtful, heading in Kai's direction.
The minute Kinn was in Kai's front, he knew he would hate this man forever.
Kinn was way taller than him; Kai had to look all the way up. He seemed strong, too — all toned muscles. However, the man didn't denter Kai's spirits one bit. The lion's eyes were too kind, he was soft in nature; Kai could read him like an open book. Kai was the opposite; a madman, a rare alpha, the deadliest, he could take them both without a hassle. He was not afraid... Despite the ludicrous height difference (he was definitely not self-conscious of).
Before Kai could open his mouth and say anything, he looked at Tee who gave him a dimpled smile and nodded his head, probably urging him to speak up. He really didn't want to.
"You must be Kinn," he said with the most obvious fake smile. "Tee told me... So much about you."
"Kai. It's... Finally nice to meet you. Tee told us so much about you too, it's like I've known you my whole life," Kinn greeted, a similar fake smile on his face with an outstretched arm, most likely wanting a handshake.
Kai eyed the outstretched hand in front of him disgustingly. Yeah. That was never going to happen; he shoved a bowl in Kinn's hand instead. "Uh-huh, sure. Nice to meet you too (not really)," he deadpanned and grabbed a second bowl before walking over to Tee.
Pol's presence was equally annoying the first time they met, if not more. He talked a lot. He ate... Like an animal. He definitely disliked Kai; he didn't even try to hide it with his obvious side glances every so often. The only good that came out of their little 'get-together' was that they enjoyed Kai's cooking a lot; both of the idiots praised him plenty and it caused his wolf to tolerate them throughout the course of their meal. And after they'd left that night, Kai had never felt more at peace.
Back then he had hoped their get-together was a once-in-a-lifetime thing; it turned out, to his horror, Tee had them over for dinner every weekend afterward.
Over time, the two stupid, ridiculously tall alphas sort of grew on him...
"... Kai?" Tee's soft voice filtered through the air, snapping Kai's wandering thoughts shut. "Are you alright?"
Upon seeing his omega with cute dimpled smiles and no brains to notice their son was literally being taken away from them! — Kaiclicked his tongue and turned his attention elsewhere; out in the waters where the waves clashed as though they were fighting.
He wanted Tee to see he was deeply troubled by this possibility.
"Kai?" Tee spoke again with a sigh, this time with concern in his voice.
Kai sighed deeply; exaggeratingly, and decided to give his attention to his concerned-looking omega, standing in front of him with a bowl of mango sticky rice in one hand and a very dirty, smudged mouth with said mango sticky rice.
"Yes, darling?" he asked with a facade of a gentle voice and a fake smile.
"You weren't eating earlier so I brought you some." The omega took a seat next to him and smiled cutely with dimples and sparkly eyes before he stretched the bowl over to Kai. "Everyone's eating except you... What's wrong?"
One look at Tee and Kai found his annoyance slowly crumbling.
Two years ago he got lucky Tee forgave him after murdering the omega's Grandmother. Tee had welcomed him back into his life with open arms, and they had a child — something he planned on using as leverage if Tee ever decided to leave him again. Sometimes he thought about the possibility of Tee never forgiving him... What a disaster that would've been. Or would it? Even if Tee had refused him, he would've taken the omega back regardless. They would've been living happily back in Nan even if Tee had to live his life in chains. Sometimes he believed he should've done that. Whatever — it was in the past. He was very much happy and satisfied with his life now; grateful that Tee had forgiven him. So much so that he was nice enough to swallow down his pride and accept Tee's annoying friends.
"I don't like them," Kai grumbled after he took the bowl from Tee and started stuffing his mouth full while continuing to gawk in Pol's direction. "They're stealing our son away."
"Don't be silly." Tee stretched an arm out, gently folding back the loose strands of Kai's overgrown hair behind his ear. "They just care about Venn."
"Soon Venn will love them more than —" me, Kai wanted to say. Instead, he sighed and said, "Us," before going back to stuffing his mouth full, his eyes never leaving Pol.
"Kai?" Tee said, sounding nearly pitiful at Kai's over-exaggerating scold. "Look at me."
Kai instantly looked at his omega. Deep into his gentle eyes, Kai found peace and calmness. Perhaps he was just overthinking? It wasn't like he wasn't happy — he was the happiest he'd ever been. Tee and Venn brought him more joy than he deserved; words were not enough to describe how much he loved his family; he knew Tee and Venn loved him equally too. It was just... Those two alphas. Although... They were no threat to him — he knew this a long time ago.
Kai sighed and unknowingly pouted; his eyes big and gleamed when his lovely omega cupped the sides of his cheeks, pulling him in for a much-needed kiss.
When Tee kissed him, soft and squishy — all tenderly and loving as though Kai might've been a delicate flower, the wolf smiled into the kiss before hooking his fingers through his omega's hair, pulling him in for a deeper kiss; damned his bowl of mango sticky rice, it didn't taste as good as Tee's lips.
Ah, Tee's lips.
It was the most intoxicating feeling to put his lips on Tee's lips. It seemed as though he could get lost in them for hours or days — or years! Tee and the lips of an angel just made him weak on his knees and kept him mindless and euphoric; he might've easily been flying whenever Tee kissed him. It seemed so.
"Dada — Papa," came a little squealing voice, instantly snapping them apart.
When Kai looked to the side, Pol placed the wiggling child on the ground. Seconds later Venn came toddling on his tiny legs and stumbling in the sand to get to them. The sight melted Kai's heart, and he smiled with teeth as Venn, who seemingly decided he wanted to go up to his Dada instead of his Papa, neared them.
"Dada — Up-up," Venn giggled, displaying the same sets of dimples on Kai's omega before the child stretched out his arms and went straight for Kai's lap.
Kai laughed lightly and opened his arms, snatching Venn up. When he settled the wiggling child on his lap, he used the back of the sleeve to wipe away some mushy stuff — the stupid alpha — had been feeding Venn moments ago.
"I think he's starting to like you more than me," Tee said from the side, looking at the pair with love in his soft, gentle — and a tad bit devious — eyes. "Isn't that right, Vee-Vee?"
Kai playfully furrowed his eyebrows. "Is that right, Venn?" he asked in a soft voice, looking down at the child. "You love your Dada more than you love your Papa?"
Venn, not knowing what either of his father said, bobbled his head a 'yes' and giggled before he started jumping up on down excitingly on Kai's lap again. Kai laughed some more before he leaned down, kissing his son on his chubby cheeks while Venn clapped his tiny palms together, his eyes wandering everywhere — not paying any mind to his Dada or Papa anymore.
"Kai?" Tee spoke, his voice sounding stern.
"Mm?" Kai looked up, staring into his omega's eyes. "What is it, baby?"
After some time Tee brought up his thumb, gently stoking Kai on the cheek. "I love you,," he said in the faintest of whispers. "Venn loves you, too."
I know, the words were lost in Kai's throat.
He knew his little family loved him dearly.
Tee loved him with his whole heart.
Venn loved him with his whole tiny heart.
They both loved him.
It was enough.
He was contented.
Satisfied.
Happy.
Truly happy.
"I love you too," Kai said.
The Actual End.
