Annoying Teachers
I think we can all admit it.
Teachers aren't exactly our best friends.
Sure, there are some exceptions, where you get a teacher that you absolutely love and makes teaching fun, but most of the time, they can be rather annoying.
In my school, there are these two VERY annoying teachers.
The first one is my class teacher. She's super strict. Like, she shouts even when she could just talk. We have to hand in our circulars/notices the day after she hands them out, even though the deadline is like days away.
She always asks us to BOK DAI LA! Which translates to BEND DOWN!
Even when we are so quiet we can hear the other classes making noise, if we try to talk to our classmates for like, collecting homework or something, then she'd legit say: This classroom is so noisy, just like a supermarket! Of course, she'd say this in her infamous nasal voice.
However, she's not that bad. Sure, she's annoying, but at least she genuinely cares for us. She's also very supportive and proud of us whenever our class is complimented.
If we're good or does something major for her, like volunteering for a school thing or writing a rap for our school's 50th anniversary dinner (I've done those two by the way), she makes sure to reward you. Snacks, chocolate, drinks...anything edible, honestly.
And now...there's the other teacher.
Some teachers are annoyingly strict. This teacher is just annoying.
Let's just call her Ms. Wind (not her real name, btw)
Last year, I was chosen by the school to be an art ambassador. After doing a bunch of art activities, you get paid by the art organisation that started the scheme.
Like, an actual cheque.
I thought I would be making art that I truly enjoyed making and expressing myself through artworks, but what did I do?
Oh, I got to make art alright, but only the kind Ms. Wind liked and wanted.
Several times, she's asked me to make a painting for some special guest coming over to our school. When I'd hand the painting, she'd always complain and find something wrong with it. ALWAYS.
Her one main issue with me was that my colours weren't bright and colourful enough.
Um, hello??? Art is subjective! And I already did what you asked for, I put in hot pink, sky blue, etc. and you're telling me this isn't colorful enough????
She'd make me redo the painting, sometimes making me stay after school just to finish it. I'd come home quite late, and since I get good grades, teachers are always asking me to do things. I don't mind, except when it's Ms. Wind asking me to help.
That meant that I had other responsibilities as well. Not only was I an art ambassador, I was the chief editor of the student newsletter as well. And since the newsletter team I put together wasn't exactly dedicated, I ended up doing most(if not all) of the work (I still do, even now).
To top it all off, I had homework to do, drawings to do for my art lesson, and studying to do for an upcoming test/quiz/even exam. Oh, and did I mention my clarinet classes?
But that doesn't piss me off as much as her ridiculous deadlines and the fact that she lies.
Several times, she's asked me to do a painting (mind you our school is old and broke, so by painting she means poster colour on crappy, flimsy paper) and demanded that I hand it in the next day. Eve with my mom helping, we painted until it was past midnight. Once, she asked me to make six paintings and hand it in on Friday, which at that time was only 4 days away!
Needless to say, I was unhappy. Then, her lies. It makes me want to tear my hair out in anger and frustration.
Remember when I told you she asked me to make paintings for special guests and stuff?
I always look at the painting the special guests receive, and it's never mine, not even when Ms. Wind says, "Oh, its great!"
Instead, it is the work of Tsi Sok, our school's painter. He specialises in Chinese painting and calligraphy and makes some seriously amazing art.
I don't mind the fact that it's his paintings that are being given, but why would Ms. Wind ask me to paint a painting, sometimes making me do it twice, only to not use it?
A few months ago, she made me stay after school with two of my friends (who are this year's art ambassadors and are just as miserable as I was last year) to clean our art room. As I was looking through a random pile of artwork, I saw one of my paintings.
She just left it in the art room in a pile with other student's artworks!
Mind you, those student artworks were made during art lesson, not because it was requested by her.
What's the point of putting in a lot of effort into something when the person you're making it for doesn't even care?
I'm so frustrated and I could go on and on, but I'm almost at a thousand words and I don't want to make this longer than it already is. I can't believe I was able to write that much over teachers, out of all topics. Whenever I write anything, I always end up getting stuck.
Anyways, comment your thoughts and maybe even some experiences you've had with annoying teachers.
Peace out!
Purplity
