Worth it

He's not mine, no matter how much I want him to be. Besides, even if he could be, it would change nothing.

I left Soo Ah's apartment, hurrying down the steps and onto the sidewalk, knowing that tomorrow was going to suck. At this point, I didn't even think it made sense to try to sleep, because it was so late. By the time I got home, it would be past midnight, and I needed a shower before I even thought about sleep.

But damn, it was worth it.

Soo Ah had surprised me, no doubt about that. I never imagined when I left home earlier that my night would end the way it did.

I was glad the sidewalks were mostly empty, because it was hard to pay attention when my mind was on her, and what she had done to me with that mouth of hers. She drove me fucking crazy. I may have threatened to beat her ass, but in all honesty, it had been amazing.

This friends with benefits thing might just be the best idea anyone has ever come up with.

I was almost home, and I was still undecided if I was going to try to get a few hours of sleep or just take a shower and go in to work. My only fear with trying to sleep was that when it came time to get up, I wouldn't want to, and may end up turning my alarm off and falling back asleep.

That had never happened before. I'd never been late to work, not in 4 years. It was a bit overwhelming, the thought that if I didn't make it in, there would be no cakes or cookies. It was a coffee shop, and coffee was the main selling point, but people were used to being able to have a piece of cake or a few cookies with their coffee.

Jimin had at one point mentioned making extra each day, and keeping it in the fridge in back in case I ever didn't make it in the next day, then it could be put out in the morning and at least customers would have something. But I was proud of the fact that everything that was served was made fresh that day. I wasn't a fan of the idea of making stuff ahead of time and saving it. Baked goods were meant to be eaten fresh.

I reached my doorstep, and unlocked the door, letting myself in to Yoshi prancing towards me quickly.

"Hey boy, sorry I was gone so long."

I opened the door, letting him outside, and hung my jacket over the back of the couch. I sat to remove my boots, moving them to the side and leaning back, a big yawn stretching my mouth wide.

A shower, I needed a shower. Whether I decided to lie down or not, a shower was happening first.

I got up, opening the door to let Yoshi back in and watching him prance to the couch. He jumped up to the corner, turning around 3 times and then laying down and curling up in a little ball of fur. I smirked. At least someone was getting enough sleep.

I went up the stairs, heading right for the bathroom and turning the hot water on in the shower. I looked at myself in the mirror, running my fingers through my hair, and it reminded me that I needed a haircut.

I stripped out of my clothes, dropping them in a pile on the floor, and turned on the cold water, adjusting it and stepping in. I closed my eyes, letting the almost scalding water wash over my skin and run down my body. It was slightly painful, but it felt good. I could feel my muscles relaxing as the heat seeped into them.

After wetting my hair, I lathered it up with shampoo, then grabbed my favorite body wash and squirted some on my shower pouf. I scrubbed my skin somewhat vigorously, until I had soaped up every inch of my body. Then I stood under the water, letting it rinse me clean, watching the bubbles as they swirled down the drain.

I rubbed my hair, making sure all the shampoo was out, then I turned the water off, reaching for my towel. After scrubbing my hair dry, I wrapped it around my waist, and grabbed my phone from the pocket of my pants, leaving the bathroom and going to my bedroom.

I sat on my bed, and looked at the time. 12:50am. I opened my alarm settings, and set an alarm for 4:15, then I got up and grabbed clothes for tomorrow, putting them on the chair so I could get up and get dressed quickly when my alarm went off.

I dropped the towel, and climbed into bed, pulling the sheet up over my body, feeling the coolness against my skin that was still heated from my shower.

I was tired, but in a good way. It was a satisfied tired. I closed my eyes, letting thoughts of Soo Ah's lips gliding down my stomach fill my mind, that thought alone causing my cock to twitch. But the need to sleep was strong, and I gladly let it drag me into it's unrelenting clutches.

☆~☆~☆

My alarm went off, and I had an overwhelming urge to whip my phone against the wall. Instead, I groaned, sitting up and silencing it. Any more of these friends with benefits sessions would have to happen earlier in the evening, given my responsibility to be at work so early in the morning.

I threw the sheet off, and slowly climbed out of bed, heading for the bathroom to take a piss. I rinsed my face with cold water, hoping it would wake me up, and trudged back to the bedroom, getting dressed quickly and doing my best to hurry downstairs so I could let Yoshi out and give him fresh water and some food before I left.

Five minutes later I was on my way, pretty sure I wouldn't be more than 10 minutes late. No one would know anyway, Jimin didn't normally get there until 5:30, and Jungkook even later.

I unlocked the door, locking it behind me and heading for the kitchen. I had decided yesterday on a simple german chocolate cake for today, and had a tub of coconut pecan frosting already made in the refrigerator. I pulled that out and set it next to the stove so it could warm up to room temperature, turning the oven on.

I put my apron on, and gathered the ingredients, starting the mixer and greasing my cake pans as it started mixing. A few minutes later I had two pans in the oven.  I looked at the time, and went to wash my mixing bowls and beaters so I could start on the cookies.

Before long I had two cookie sheets ready to go in the oven, now just waiting on the cake to come out. I looked at the time, 5:12. Jimin would be here in about 15 minutes.

I pulled the cakes out and stuck the cookies in, thinking I might need the fan this morning to cool them off if I wanted to get them out front in time. I'd be fine with the cake, it was okay to put the frosting on while it was still warm.

I filled two more cookie sheets up, setting them aside, and got ready to frost my cakes. Suddenly, Soo Ah popped into my head. I wondered if she would be in this morning for coffee and a piece of cake. She hadn't said, and I hadn't asked. She probably wasn't even awake yet.

"Tae-ah, it smells really good in here..."

I jumped when the door swung opened, Jimin singing out as he barged into the kitchen.

"God damn it, Jimin, don't fucking do that!"

He laughed.

"You know what time I get here, you shouldn't be surprised when I come through that door."

I scowled at him, and went back to my cakes. He grabbed his apron and disappeared back out front, humming something happily.

I yawned, spreading the frosting over the cake carefully, positive that when I got home I'd be going to bed very early tonight. Like, right after I got there.

I finished frosting both cakes, and grabbed a stack of plates, cutting the cake into squares and placing a square on each plate. I loaded up a tray, and carried it out front so I could fill up the display case.

It was now 5:40. I had 20 minutes till we opened, and hadn't even gotten the first batch of cookies out of the oven yet. I hurried back to the kitchen, grabbing the fan and setting it up, then getting the cookies out. I got them on the cooling racks, and stuck the other two trays in.

I grabbed a clean cookie jar, and had it ready to fill as soon as they were cool enough, then I sat on the stool, resting my chin in my palm, yawning again. It was going to be a long day.

Two minutes to six I was filling the cookie jar and taking it out front to place on the counter. I  walked back to the kitchen, hearing Jimin yell that he was turning the sign as I sat down on the stool, my shoulders dropping tiredly.

I hadn't been this tired in a long time. I was considering going out front and getting a cup of coffee. I hated coffee. But if it helped me wake up, I might have to force it down. I had orders for 2 cakes and 3 dozen cookies I had to complete today.

I filled up the two empty sheets, and took the next two trays out of the oven, setting them on the cooling racks, but waiting to put the two I just filled into the oven.

I never thought I'd say this, but I needed coffee.

I went out front, grabbing a cup and looking at the several coffee machines lined up on the counter. I had no idea what to get. I turned to see what Jimin was doing, and he was just finishing ringing up a customer. I waited till he was done, then I tapped him on the shoulder.

He turned, seeing the cup in my hand and raising a brow.

"What are you doing Tae?"

"I need coffee."

Now both brows went up, his lips curving up a bit.

"You hate coffee."

I huffed out an irritated breath.

"So tell me what I should get."

He took the cup from me, and went about fixing something, handing it to me a few minutes later. I took it, looking at it cautiously.

"It's a café mocha."

I lifted it to my lips, taking a sip. It wasn't bad.

"What's in it?"

"It's espresso, steamed milk and mocha sauce. It's popular with people who aren't fans of coffee."

I took another sip, glancing at him and narrowing my eyes.

"You never thought to tell me about this before now?"

"You never expressed an interest in anything even remotely resembling coffee. Why would I?"

He was right, I hadn't.

"Why the sudden need for caffeine?"

I made a face at him, taking another sip.

"I'm tired. Need something to wake me up."

"You? Tired? Don't you go to bed at like, 8pm or something? What kept you up late and made you so tired?" He smirked.

I scowled at him.

"Mind your own fucking business, yeah?"

The bell dinged signaling someone entering, and we both looked towards the door.

It was Soo Ah.

God help me, everything from last night came flooding into my mind as I looked at her. I suddenly felt warm, and I could feel my cock growing harder by the second. Thank heavens I was wearing an apron.

She walked up to the counter, giving me a smile, then yawning as she looked towards Jimin.

Shit.

Jimin turned his head just enough to glance at me, his eyes narrowed, then he stepped up to the counter, and I knew he was giving her his 'welcome to Perk Place' smile.

"Hi Soo Ah. What can I get for you this morning?"

"Hi Jimin. I think I'll stick with my caramel macchiato, large, and a slice of cake."

I was not aware that they were on a first name basis.

"That'll be $5.50. For here or to go?"

"Here please," she answered as she handed him the money. As she waited for him to give her the change, she yawned again.

"You look like you didn't get enough sleep last night Soo Ah." He said as he handed her the change.

That was my cue to leave.
