A good surprise
But I probably wasn't being realistic. He'd simply asked me to go see a movie with him. He hadn't even officially called it a date. For all I knew, we were going as friends. But I was okay with that too. I felt like he needed a friend just as much as I did.
•°•♡•°•
I was second guessing myself. Why the hell did I ask her to go see a movie with me? What if she thought I'd asked her on a date? It wasn't a date. It was just a movie.
I sighed, dropping another scoopful of cookie dough onto the sheet. I just had to remember the reason I was doing this. Sex. I was hoping it would eventually lead to sex. That was it. I could never feel anything for her. Even if I thought I could, I didn't want to.
I stuck the cookie sheet in the oven, glancing at the time. The day had been dragging so far. Granted, it was only 6:45, but I'd been here since 4:30am, and it felt like I'd been here for 8 hours already.
Jimin popped through the door, startling me.
"Hey Tae, Soo Ah's here."
I raised a brow at him.
"And you're telling me this why?"
He shrugged.
"Aren't you two friends? Just thought you might wanna say hi is all."
I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously. I didn't believe him for a second. He was still hoping to get us together, but I had no idea why. He knew I thought she was crazy. I'd never tell him that I'd asked her to see a movie.
But I probably should go out and say hi.
I wiped my hands off on a towel, watching Jimin go back through the door. I took a deep breath, and walked out through the door that was still swinging from Jimin going through.
She was sitting at a table, a cup of something in front of her, and a slice of cake half eaten. She hadn't noticed me yet, so I walked up to the table.
She looked up, and immediately smiled.
"Hi Taehyung."
I gave her a tight lipped smile, raising my brows.
"Hi Soo Ah. Enjoying your cake?"
Her eyes got wide, her mouth turning into an O.
"Oh my God, this cake is sooo good. Do you make a different flavor every day?"
"I try, but after awhile, I have to go back to something I've already made."
"Well so far, the orange creamsicle, and this boston cream are my favorite. But they have all been amazing, and I'm going to need to start going to the gym if I keep coming here every morning."
I chuckled.
"Well I'm glad you like them. I need to go check on my cookies. I'll talk to you later, Soo Ah."
She waved cutely, her mouth full of cake, which I was glad for. I didn't want her to mention anything about later. I already knew those two were watching us like hawks. Nosy bastards.
I started for the kitchen, turning to give Jimin a look at the last second, and having to hold back a smile when he quickly looked away, trying to look busy with something. I shook my head and grabbed the towel, pulling out the tray of cookies and setting it down on the cooling rack.
The day passed fairly quick after I'd seen Soo Ah, and I was on my way home to get showered and changed for the movie. I had time to eat something light, and play with Yoshi for a bit, before I went upstairs to get ready.
I pulled out a pair of black leather pants, and a plain white t-shirt, planning to wear my leather jacket and my black work boots.
I showered and shaved, putting on my favorite lotion. Jungkook used to pick on me, because I preferred this over any cologne I'd ever smelled, but he finally stopped when I pointed out that I didn't pick on him for smelling like a field of flowers at times.
I got dressed, and after messing with my hair for a bit, I realized that it was time for a haircut. It was just about covering my eyes. I'd have to make an appointment soon.
I looked at the clock. It was just about six, so I let Yoshi out one more time before I left, then I grabbed my jacket, putting it on and stepping out the door, locking it behind me.
It really had been a long time since I'd been to a movie. I was looking forward to it. I loved Disney movies. My younger brother and sister had loved them too. We use to watch them together.
I felt the sadness creeping in, so I started thinking instead about what I could talk to Soo Ah about. It was hard to have a conversation when you had no idea what to say. I guess I could ask her what kind of music she likes. What her favorite food is. If she likes to dance.
I'd think of things, I guess. I couldn't bring up the real reason I was trying to get to know her, not yet anyway.
How was I going to keep this from Jimin and Jungkook? Especially since she came into the coffee shop so often now. It was bound to come up at some point.
Maybe I could ask her not to mention it just yet. I'd say that they would pick on me if they found out, and it would make my life hell, because they were jerks. No, that made it sound like I was a whiny ass baby who couldn't stand up for himself.
Damn it. I didn't know how I would keep her from mentioning it.
I arrived at her apartment, going up the steps and knocking on her door. Ten seconds later it opened, and Soo Ah stood before me, smiling. I had to admit, she looked damn cute. She was wearing a pair of grey leggings with a long pink sweater that came to mid thigh, and a pair of burgundy high heeled ankle boots that laced up the back. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, with wisps of hair framing her face.
"You look nice."
I saw her eyes travel from my face down, stopping at my feet. She bit her lip, releasing it and lifting her eyes back to mine.
"So do you," she said quietly. "I'm used to seeing you in an apron, so this is an unexpected surprise."
I held her gaze, surprised that she didn't look away.
"A good surprise, or a bad surprise?"
"Oh...A good surprise...a very good surprise."
I smirked.
"Shall we go?"
She nodded, and pulled the door closed behind her, slipping her key into the small purse she had hanging from her shoulder.
We walked the few blocks to the movie theater, and after I bought the tickets for the movie, we stopped at concession and got some popcorn and two large cokes. We found our theater, and went in and found our seats. We were the first ones there.
"Now we just have to make sure we don't eat all the popcorn before the movie starts." She giggled.
I shrugged. "If we do, I'll just go get more."
We had about 35 minutes to wait. Time to think of something to talk about.
"So, Soo Ah, what kind of music do you like?"
She frowned, and looked thoughtful.
"I mean, I can pretty much listen to anything. Except country. I never could get into that. I like music that's upbeat. Sad songs make me sad, and I'd rather not be sad. How bout you?"
"Me? I like rap. You ever listen to Agust D? He spits fire when he raps. I could listen to him all day."
"Oh my God, I have listened to him. He's amazing."
I nodded. So we had something in common. Maybe one day I would tell her that Jungkooks older brother Jin was friends with Min Yoongi, aka Agust D.
"How bout your favorite food?"
She smiled, sticking her hand in the popcorn bucket.
"Your cake."
She stuffed a handful of popcorn in her mouth.
I laughed. "That's a dessert."
"It's still food!" She argued with a mouth full of popcorn.
"Yeah, but, I mean like, pizza, or hamburgers or lamb skewers..."
"Hmmm, I really like Jjajangmyeon."
"Black bean noodles? Really?"
She nodded enthusiastically.
"Mmhm, you sound surprised."
"I just figured you'd say pizza or something."
"I like pizza, but it's not my favorite. What's your favorite food?"
"Roasted asparagus."
She made a face.
"You're joking, right?"
"What's wrong with roasted asparagus?" I asked
"Yuck. I don't like asparagus at all."
Strike one.
"You don't know what you're missing."
"Oh yes I do, and it's gross."
I smiled, shaking my head at her.
The movie screen lit up, and flickered an announcement that the movie would be starting shortly. She clapped, and took a drink of her coke as the lights dimmed. Only about 10 other people had come into the theater, and there was no one sitting near us. We were in the very back row, kind of in the middle. It was nice not having people on either side of us.
The movie started, and I glanced at her from the corner of my eye, seeing the big smile on her face. We watched the movie quietly, and at one point, we both stuck our hands in the popcorn bucket at the same time, our fingers brushing, and she pulled her hand out quickly.
"Sorry," she whispered.
"It's okay, don't apologize." I answered quietly.
We continued to eat popcorn and watch the movie, and the next time our hands touched, she didn't pull away. By the end of the movie, the popcorn was gone, and Soo Ah was crying.
"Are you okay? It's just a movie you know."
She sniffled, grabbing a napkin from the several we'd grabbed, and blowing her nose.
"I know, but it's still sad."
We stood up, and I stuck the coke cups in the empty popcorn bucket so I could throw it away on our way out. Soo Ah asked me to wait while she used the bathroom, and I checked my phone, but I have no idea what for. It's not like I had anyone that sent me texts on a regular basis. Not anymore.
She came out a few minutes later, and we left the theater.
"Was there anything else you wanted to do? Grab some dinner maybe."
"We just ate a giant bucket of popcorn. Are you still hungry?"
"There's nothing to popcorn. Of course I'm still hungry."
She laughed, looking around to see what there was to choose from.
"Can we just get something from McDonald's and take it back to my apartment? I hate eating in those places."
"Sure, I'm fine with that."
That would make it easier to talk to her, without someone overhearing our conversation. I hated nosy people.
We walked to the McDonalds, and I ordered myself a meal, and asked her what she wanted. She said a kids meal, and I gave her a look.
"What? I'm not that hungry."
"Fine, but don't be trying to steal my fries."
She giggled, and I ordered her kids meal, telling them not to forget the toy.
We walked back to her apartment, and once inside, we sat on the couch and I removed everything from the bag, placing it between us. She picked up her happy meal box, and opened it, taking the toy out immediately.
I snorted, and called her a kid, to which she just smiled and proceeded to open up her toy and play with it. It was one of those paddle ball things with a little rubber ball on the end of an elastic string, except it was a mini version. She was pretty good, and we got into a paddle ball contest to see who could go the longest without missing.
I finally beat her, and said I quit, and she stuck her tongue out at me, calling me a party pooper.
