Right Now (Voltron One-Shot)

Crashing, hit a wall

The sound left. It felt like everything was crashing down again. Everything's almost grey.

He's gone. He just disappeared like thin air.

Right now I need a miracle

Everyone else looked to me; I could tell what they were thinking.

No. I'm not okay.

I can't lose him again. Not like this.

Hurry up now, I need a miracle

I tried to find the words but nothing was coming, only tears picking the corners of my eyes.

My voice was barely there. "Sh... Shiro..."

Stranded, reaching out
I call your name but you're not around

Hunk took a step towards me, holding his hand out a little. "Ayumi?"

I just shook my head over and over again, slowly backing out until I couldn't take the thought anymore; I ran. I ran out of the Lion and towards the hangar door. And I didn't stop.

"Ayumi!"

I say your name but you're not around

I ran down the hallway, up the staircase and towards my Lion's hangar. I shakily entered the pin on the keypad, and ran into the room as soon as the doors opened. Frost shifted and brought his large snout down on to the floor as I came up to him.

My legs got shaky under me, and I almost threw myself against his nose. And I lost it right there and cried.

I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now

"H-He's gone, boy." I say softly as I caught my breath. "He's gone."

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now
It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'll be here, when I need you the most, so

I heard him purr slightly when I leaned back against his head, trying to calm down.

It felt like the Kerberos disappearance all over again. Only this time it wasn't Zarkon.

Well, it kind of was.

But it still doesn't explain how he disappeared.

Don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
D-Don't let me down

There were a million thoughts in my head. Everything was a blur. I couldn't piece any of it together.

Don't let me down

He was just gone.

R-r-running out of time
I really thought you were on my side

I heard the hangar doors open; I tried my best to wipe the snotty mess above my lip away, along with the tears that I couldn't stop.

I look over and saw Hunk poke his head in. "Hey,"

But now there's nobody by my side

I just wave at him, glancing back down at the floor as I rested my head against my Lion.

"Figured you'd be in here." He sat down next to me; he was about to lean back against the Lion when he growled slightly.

"Shush, Frost," I say. The growling stopped.

I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now

Hunk just sat Indian Style on the ground next to me. "Coran started dinner. But you probably aren't hungry."

I shook my head. Eating is the last thing on my mind at this point.

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now

He held up a big object wrapped in brown paper. "This was under the seat in his Lion. Figured he was meaning to give it back to you."

It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'll be here, when I need you the most

I took it and unwrapped it. It was the doll he had given me the Christmas before his disappearance on Kerberos. He actually fixed it for me.

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

I almost started to cry again. "Thank you, Hunk." I wiped my eye and managed a smile.

He nods with a small smile. I started to comb my fingers through the doll's - Lanie's - hair, my eyes tearing up again. "I've had her for so long. With everything that's been going on I almost forgot that I had asked him to fix her arm."

D-Don't let me down

"Yeah," I could see him looking at me from the corner of my eye. "You gonna be okay?"

I sigh. "I-I don't know. I can barely wrap my head around the fact that we actually just defeated Zarkon's Mech Suit thing, and that Uncle Shiro's gone..." I felt the tears well up again. "I-It's a lot to... To process."

He ran his hand along my arm. "Well, the rest of us are here for you. If you ever want to talk, I'm sure even Lance would shut up and listen."

I couldn't help but laugh. "Thanks."

Hunk's watch beeped slightly. "Oh, food's almost ready. I better hurry and hijack it. See you upstairs?"

I nod. "Yeah, I'll be up in a bit."

He nods back and gets up, walking out of the hangar.

I sighed when the doors closed. I looked up at Frost; his eyes were dimmed out, but I could still hear his soft purring. I smirked slightly.

He's the most support I would need right now.

I looked at the doll for a second before standing on my toes and resting it on his nose.

I rubbed his nose a little. I wipe away the dried up tears on my face, sucking in a breath.

"Don't let me down, boy."
Don't let me down
