Every Move Counts (Chapter 1)~Chiders
The blonde from earlier shows me around, "And this is--" The guy starts. I stop walking immediately, which causes the boy to stop as well. The boy stumbles back a bit. I look at the boy, "What's your name?" I ask him. The blonde looks at me curiously, "The real question is... What's your name?" He replies. I dig into my thoughts for an answer, but to my discomfort, I couldn't find anything. I look at the blonde blankly, "I... I actually don't know." I say. The blonde smacks his lips together, "Well..." He gets closer, "I'll tell you my name.. When you tell me yours." He finishes. His British accent continues to ring in my ears until someone else says something. "Aye! Garroth!" Someone yells. I smirk and glance at the blonde, "So... Garroth, eh?" I question. 'Garroth' looks at me and smacks his lips together once again. Before Garroth gets a chance to respond, the same guy from earlier speaks again. "Garroth!" He exclaims. Garroth and I look in the direction of the other man, "Yes, Hood?" Garroth asks. 'Hood' rolls his eyes, "My name isn't Hood. It's Aaron." 'Hood' I mean 'Aaron' corrects. "Do you know who this guy's name is?" Aaron asks. Garroth sighs, "He hasn't remembered yet." The blonde replies. Aaron glances at me, then back at Garroth. Garroth seems disappointed, "Garroth, just give him a couple days. It's the guy's first day." Aaron says. I give Aaron a thankful nod. He returns the gesture. Silence washes over us until Aaron clears his throat, "The reason I'm here is because... He is requesting you." Aaron informs. "Thank you, Aaron." Garroth thanks. The blonde then disappears into the distance. Aaron and I stare at each other until someone calls his name, "Aaron! Come here!" Someone yells. Aaron twists his head around, "Coming!" He exclaims. Aaron disappears as well. I look around and purse my lips together, trying to find something to do. "So, you're the greenie?" Someone questions. I turn my head and see a guy with blue hair. "H-Hi." I stutter out a hello. "Name's Dante." He informs. "Nice to uhh... Meet you?" I reply. "Y'see.. How this greeting is supposed to work is by you saying your name as well." Dante says. "I don't know my name..." I look down, but back up a few seconds later. Realization seems to smack Dante in the face, "Oh.. Yea... We don't call you 'greenie' for nothing!" Dante exclaims, "Wait that came out wrong." He mutters. "Well... Feel free to come to the 'Welcoming' tonight. It's held whenever someone shows up to Roto." Dante invites. I give him a small smile, "I'll be there." I reply. "You are the special guest, so it would be rude not to." Dante adds. "I said I was coming." I repeat myself in a way. Dante nods, "See you tonight!" He exclaims, then runs away.

I walk to where a huge bonfire is held. "Wow.." I mutter. "Amazing, isn't it?" A voice asks from behind me. I turn around and see someone with black hair and a blue eye. His hair is covering one of his eyes, "Come here." The boy waves me along. He walks away, so I decide to follow him. We sit behind a log, "What's up?" I question. "Welcome to Roto.." He starts. Him and I both state at the stone wall that everyone has been calling 'The Maze'. "What's in there?" I ask. "What's in what?" He questions. "The.. The 'Maze'." I finish. "The maze? Oh.. That thing. It was here when Travis first got here," He takes a breath and continues before I can ask further questions, "Travis is the first one. He was the first one to get here... Nobody knows where it came from, it's just.. It's just been here." He finishes. "What happened to your eye?" I ask, assuming that something has happened. People don't randomly have a huge slab of hair cover their eye. "A monster took it. And by monster, I mean Chiders. Chiders are these monsters that lurk in the maze at night," A huge shriek echoes out of the maze, it being followed by the loud noise of shifting stone, "That was a Chider screaming. The maze is changing as well.. Happens every night." He informs. I glance at him, "Can I see?" I asks. "My eye?" He assumes. I nod, "Sure." He replies. The boy moves some hair from his face. All I see is an eye socket, but no eye. "I know.. It's creepy." He says, then covers it back up. "What's... What's your name?" I question. He shuffles around for a second, "I knew you'd eventually ask that... My names Zane." He informs. "I don't know my name yet." I say blankly. Zane chuckles, "I knew you wouldn't.." Zane gets up and pats my shoulder, "That's enough talk for tonight. Come on, let's have some fun! Enjoy this, it's all for you." And with that, Zane walks off.
