Two years later ..

Swara Bose didn't know how she could feel not even a hint of sadness at yet another broken relationship, Avinash was a good person and someone who could have matched up to her in every way except he didn't ,they have been dating for over a month that she believed that it could work until he kissed her and she felt nothing .

It had been a hard conversation to have when you break up with someone for no reason ,Avinash had been kind enough not to blame her or lash at her unlike her last two dates . Dating isn't for her and she wanted to quit looking for the one except he won't let her give up .

Sanskar Maheshwari ,her best friend . She still couldn't imagine how both of them formed a unlikely friendship ,it happened three months after her sister wedding when she got a call from an unknown number ,usually she won't answer them but it was late at night and she was somewhat lonely in her house that she picked it up only to hear his familiar voice from the other side .

Back then Swara didn't know it had been Kavitha death anniversary that night , only found out later that it had been the reason which prompt him to call her , she still remembers the conversation where he asked her if she had gotten brave in the last three months and her answer had been No and he said it was the same for him.

That should have been the end of it ,until a month later Swara called him for the first time because she finally agreed to go on a date with her colleague who had been asking her for quite some time . She wanted him to know about her first step and she also know he would be the only one who could understand her and what it meant to her.

He had been happy for her and she could hear it in his voice how glad he was for her and she just wanted him to know about her being brave enough to venture out again , and yet her hands reached to call him two days later to tell him about how horrible that date had been when she couldn't find any single common ground with her date.

And for the next six months it had became a habit of hers to call him our of the blue for every step she took towards finding the one and what started as a call to let him know about her turned to became more of an habit to learn about him as well ,she had been immensely happy when he first talked to her about Kavitha.

He had confided in her that she has been the first person he could talk about Kavitha and their shared memories not just her death ,in a way she realized that by talking about her ,he was being brave enough to move on from her . And so she listened to him tell everything about the girl he loved and a part of her at times felt a tinge of envy that she didn't have someone who loved her like Sanskar.

And when her sister got pregnant Swara had moved back to town to be with her , over the months after their marriage .She has gotten over the initial awkwardness around Laksh and was happy for her sister and him yet she knew she wouldn't be welcomed either in their house or her mother house ,which meant renting a new apartment .

It was the first time she saw him after Ragini marriage , she had told him about the move and he has arrived in person to help her get settled and Swara felt touched that he would take a day off just for her sake . She didn't have any huge furniture that need to be lifted or such yet it felt really nice to have someone around to help her .

Still I had been a bit awkward at first ,over the phone call there had been distance that kept her brave enough but talking to him in person made her nervous at first and he must have sensed it that he had never ventured out to meet her again for the next two months . Swara missed him over the months ,they often talked in the phone call yet she felt the distance she created between them .

Yet she hadn't been brave enough to approach him first ,they met again by coincidence when she has been on a date that went terribly wrong from the beginning,the only reason she had even agreed to this date had been to find reason to call Sanskar . Back then she didn't know it or admitted it even to herself .

Until he gate crashed the date and she couldn't be more relived ,apparently he had been on the same venue by coincidence and realized she needed some rescuing ,she was thrilled that he had helped her escape and when he insisted that he would walk her back home even when it has been a short distance ,she was touched as well .

On the stroll back home ,they stopped for ice-cream and she told him about how horrible the date went in person ,and he invited her to his charity fund raiser .Swara knew the event meant a lot to him since it had been all he talked about since Kavitha had been an orphan ,Sanskar hosted a yearly fund raiser and donated the sum to every orphanages around the world .

So even though it wasn't something she was used to ,she went to the event for him . And it had been worth it to see him again , that how there friendship grew from strangers to best friends. He still buys her ice creams whenever she gets through a horrible date and she still goes to all his business events whenever possible .

And she had even gotten close with his family , she was regularly invited to all his family functions or festivals even though Swara moved back for her sister and transferred herself from her job to be around her . She still wasn't invited to the Maheshwari house over festivals but Swara had visited almost once in two days to check upon her sister and when she gave birth to her nephew she had stayed in the house for over a month to help her but even then Laksh family didn't forgive her . So Sanskar family had became her safe harbour over the years.

It was quite probably the reason she was even at the moment standing in front of his house ,she knew his family were away on an vacation and Sanskar was supposed to join them tomorrow but tonight he was home and she desperately wanted to see him.

She knocked at his door and hoped he won't mind her interruption , She should have called to check up on him but she didn't think it through because when the door opened it wasn't her Sanskar who greeted her but someone else .

Swara knew Sanskar had a life of his own ,yet seeing someone else in his house was quite a shock . Because even when she had been going on several dates it had never crossed her mind he would be seeing someone else too .

And she was hurt that he never told her about it , when all she did was talk about her dates and how horrible each of them were every single time ,she must have been in shock because she couldn't answer back a single question from the girl before her .

Until she saw him walking towards the door ,he didn't say a word but just guided her inside his house when all she wanted was to leave or run. He talked quielty with the girl outside and she left with an accusing glance towards her and Swara felt like crying it just that she didn't realize she was already crying until his hands wrapped around her.

Once her tears subsided she felt like a idiot for breaking down in front of him ,she never ever cried before over a broken date until now .

" Want some ice cream " he asked her apparently deduced the reason behind her visit and she could only shook her head in answer because ice creams won't help the pain not tonight . Because she wasn't crying over Avinash but over him ,the mere thought of losing him sent her into a breakdown of epic proportions.

He must have sensed her declining ice cream meant she was truly heartbroken that he didn't say anything else for awhile until she calmed down enough , she saw his face relax the moment she stopped crying and she knew he didn't like to see her upset so tried hard to gain control of her emotions .

He had been her support for everything but this one was different than the rest because it was about them . He insisted she eat something first when she asked to be dropped back home and since she knew he won't let her leave without eating ,she stayed behind and let him cook something for her .

It was only during dinner ,she found the courage to ask about the girl . She tried to keep her voice from letting him know that she was affected by her presence in his life .

" How long have you been dating her ?" Once the question was out she wanted to take it back because what if it has been over a month or two,she didn't want to know that she was close to losing him

" Who ,Sarita ..I am not dating her ,she is my assistant came to drop off some files " he answered back not realizing the impact his answer left on her ,the sheer relief that Swara felt at the knowledge didn't bring in peace as she expected but rather the truth she hadn't been brave enough to face yet .

She was in love , she didn't know when it happened or how but the reason for all her failed dates stood before her because her heart was already slowly getting engaged with someone else . Her best friend ,Sanskar Maheshwari .

She should have been elated at the knowledge if only she could find it in her to believe that her love could be reciprocated , she has a choice before her either to be brave enough to take a risk with him and their friendship by speaking up the truth or hide the truth from him in fear of rejection and hold on to his friendship that she desperately needed to survive .

Swara didn't know when he became such an intergal part of her life ,it was no wonder she was in love with him . Even when her heart wanted to take the risk ,her mind wanted to play it safe because losing him wasn't an option .
