candy
'What the heck are you going to do?'
Hemel yelled. His words finally pierced through my eardrums and hit the enraged feelings swirling inside of me.
'Hey dude, remember how many times I used to come over and just eat all your candies?' I smiled. My eyes focused on the busy traffic below the railings.
'Now? Really?' He sounded frustrated but it was purely disappointment. The cold wind blew away the few strands of hair on his forehead.
'I never had those sweets at my house,'
He kept quiet. His arms were now resting on the railings and he looked down from the twelfth floor where we stood.
'My parents never bought them for me,' I continued.
'Yeah they did it to make sure they didn't spoil you, ' I glanced at him questioning him.
'You told me then, I remember,' he answered in a whisper. The only reason I could hear him was because the wind was strong enough to carry his words to me.
'I lied,' I confessed. He smirked knowingly.
'They didn't want to waste money on me. I was always happy when I got chocolates from you everytime I went.' The temperature gradually dropped. I shivered.
'I used to save them up so I could eat them at special moments,' the streetlights turned on at my words. The light orange and pink streaks in the sky dispersed into the ink of the last moments of evening.
'Had all of them in one go then?' his lips quivered. The cold was getting to him too.
'In the end I never got to have them,' I sighed.
'What? Why not?'
'My parents ate them,'
'They wouldn't do that. Why would parents take away their own kid's candy? You're misreading them.'
'Maybe,'
There was a long silence and neither of us broke it. I could go on with the undisturbed peace but he could not hold it back.
'So what are you going to do about the current situation?' the traffic started to calm down. The polluting vehicles left the wide road empty.
'Hide my candies.'
