Taking a Step Back
Sunset grabbed her phone, and scrolled through her contacts until she found Josi's.
"Shimmer," Adagio said. Sunset didn't respond. "Sunset." Still nothing. Adagio breathed in and screamed: "SUNSET!"
Finally, Sunset stopped. "WHAT?"
Adagio sighed. "Look. I know you're mad. So am I. Aria was killed by some sick freak, and I want to slap them. But we won't find anything put by calling someone and accusing them of murder. If she does have something to do with this, what makes you think she wouldn't lie now?"
There was silence for a while. Rarity finally spoke up. "Maybe she has nothing left to lose."
"Anyway, she's in Boston," Sunset said, trying to ignore Rarity. "If she did kill them, she would have needed help."
"Or she really is here, and is hiding with Blair."
Adagio pointed to the phone in Sunset's hand. "The only way to find out is to call her."
Sunset gently tapped the green phone icon under Josi's contact picture, and put it to her ear. It beeped for a while, before she finally picked up. Sunset put the phone on speaker. She was silent as she waited for Josi to speak.
"Um," she sounded nervous. "Sunset Shimmer?"
"Hallows?" Her voice went cold.
"So you found out, huh? This is such a great day."
"Why would you do this?"
Josi sighed. "I think you should come to my house. It's hard to talk over the phone. You still have my address?"
Sunset nodded, then remembered that Josi couldn't see her. "Yes, I do. We'll be there in five."
She hung up. "Let's go."

Sonata sat next to Rainbow Dash. She smiled. "Thank you for letting me stay with you tonight."
"I don't think any of us would feel safe being alone after what happened earlier," Rainbow told her. "I'm so sorry about Aria. I know you cared about her."
"It was more than that," Sonata said, her grief showing in her eyes. "I loved her." She paused. "Not in a girl friend way, but in that sisterly way. You act like you hate each other, but you really don't. You'll be there when they need you, and the other way around. We weren't really related, but we felt like we were. We were a family. And, sure, we had a few bumps in the road, but what family doesn't?"
Rainbow smiled. "We all do. Like...Sunset and-"
Dawn glared over at her. "Don't you dare use me as an example, you friend of my sister!"
"Okay, I'm sorry," Rainbow said.
"I came here to make it up to her, and I'm going to. But after everything I did to her back in Equestria, it will probably be hard, if even possible."
Sonata put her hand on Dawn's shoulder. "It is possible. You just have to believe!" She threw her arms in the air, and twirled around. "You just have to BELIEVE!"
Rainbow smirked. She put her phone to her ear, and motioned for Sonata to do the same. "Hello? Is this MacDonald's heart attack served in a bag?"
"No! This is TACO BELL!" Sonata ripped her phone away from her ear, crossed her arms, and pouted. "I'm not a MacDonald's heart attack.
Dawn gave them a confused look, but didn't say anything.

Josi's house looked like a ghost town. The yard was dark, the grass dead and black. There were no flowers. Dead leaves littered the ground, and crunched beneath the girls' feet as they walked up to the black painted door. They were instantly swallowed by shadows.
"The Grimm Reaper is calling me," Adagio said, taking out her phone. "He wants his house back."
Sunset stared at the broken door bell. What happened to this place? Did they turn it into a morgue? She hesitantly knocked on the window.
Though no one answered, still, the door opened. The three girls crept inside.
The walls were all black, as was the furniture. The truth of the matter was that everything was black. Everything. Adagio was right: this whould be the Grimm Reaper's house.
"I'm glad you came," Josi said as she walked down the stairs. "I'm sorry about all of the black."
"Oh...that's not what's really freaking us out," Rarity said politely.
Adagio quickly cut in, for she knew that Rarity would soon be hosting a tea party if she didn't. "We came to talk about your sister, who I can guess is a jerk."
Josi glared at her. "Even if your 'sisters' did something wrong, would you call them jerks? We have all made mistakes. The only thing I've ever wanted to do was protect my sister, so that she could finally have the normal life that she always deserved."
"I couldn't care less about your sister!" Adagio was now screaming. "Why would I when you killed mine like she was a fucken whore that the world didn't need anymore!"
"I didn't-"
"But guess what? SHE WAS A LESBIAN! Aria didn't love boys! And she sure wasn't a prostitute or a slut! In her whole life in this stupid world, she had slept with, hmm, ZERO BOYS! And you're looking to be slapped every time you open your mouth!"
Blair was standing on the stairs, her hand on the rail. "She didn't kill anyone."
Sunset had to old herself from beating the crap out of Blair. "Is it because you did, and she just covered up? Because that's a crime, too, sweetie."
"No. You're wrong again." Blair put her head to one side. "And I thought you were very smart."
"Well then where were you?" Rarity asked.
"And how can you walk?" Sunset demanded.
Josi didn't look at her sister. Sadness shone in her eyes. "You know you don't have to show them. The fact that you had it done still scares me."
Blair walked down the rest of the stairs, and stood close to Sunset. She moved a shaking hand down to her right pants leg, and slowly pulled it up. Her eyes closed, and she let a single tear roll down her cheek.
Sunset's hand covered her mouth. "Surgery. You got a prosthetic leg, so you can walk again."
"Yes," Blair said. "I- I wanted to tell you. But then that jerk Henna came and threatened to kill my sister if I didn't keep quiet. She almost killed me. And someone named Evie helped her. Or she was helping me. Since I was almost out of it, I don't really remember what happened, or how I lived to tell you this."
Rarity grabbed her phone, and sent a text. Seconds later, Blair's went off. "What does the text say?"
Blair looked at her phone; she tapped the message. "I'm sorry. I really did mean to help you. -Evie."
Sunset face palmed. "RARITY!"
"Okay, someone tell me who this Evie freak is!" Adagio demanded.
"How dare you!" Rarity hissed. "I am not a freak!"
Blair gasped. "If she's Evie, does that mean you know who A is?"
Rarity sighed. "I remember a few things about my time with H. It was dark. She tried to kill me everyday, but still I held on. There are things that I'm trying to remember, but I think Applejack did something to me. Like when a dentist uses that freak spray to make you tolerant to the pain."
Josi stared out the window. "I'm going to trust all of you with a big secret. Last night, I was with Radiance Angel, and- well, she told me that she and that teacher Discord are having an affair."
Sunset glared at nothing. "I knew he had sex with other girls. Didn't he learn not to date students after he got Fluttershy pregnant?"
Blair rose her hand like she was in school. "For a short time, I was having an affair with Sylvie."
That gave Sunset someone to glare at. "YOU SICK FREAK!"
"Oh my gosh, Sunset!" Blair snapped. "She forced me to!"
"But she's old! Like, 100 years old," Rarity said, sounding like Pinkie Pie.
Josi face palmed. "Idiot. She's twenty eight."
Sunset picked up her phone, and screamed. She quickly calmed down. "Sorry, my phone just died on me. Now I can't check Facebook."
Adagio died laughing. "You still use Facebook? Why don't you use Twitter or Instagram. Or Snapchat?"
"Because Snapchat makes me want to hurl myself off a cliff, Twitter hates me, and Instagram...I don't know how to use it. And don't ask me to get to Tumblr. If I wanted an account of any of them, which I don't, I would just make one. But I'm not goinhg to, because I already had to delete my old Facebooks." She paused for a second. "Okay, I had to delete three."
"Why?" Blair asked.
"My first one was what I used when I tore up the student body of CHS. On my second one, people kept tagging me in pictures of the Fall Formal, when I turned into a she-demon. Then the third had people posting to my feed on how sorry they were for what happened after we had to see our friends murdered."
Rarity pursed her lips. She slowly blew out a small puff of breath. "They shouldn't do that. They have no idea what it was like. We don't need or want their pity."
Adagio stood up. "I think we should go. Blair, Josi, do you want to tell the others, or do you want us to?"
Blair nodded. "I want to tell them."
"If she's going, so am I," Josi said. "Where are we going? I really don't want strangers to hear about this."
"We'll go to my apartment," Sunset said, wheezing a little.

Lilac twisted her purple hair into a braid. "I don't understand why you're so worried. Sunset and I are on love." She smiled. "I wish you had seen her face when we were singing together, she loved it. And so did I."
Her 'friend' sighed. "I knew you would. She is nice. But I just wish you learned how to control yourself."
"I don't need permission from you. Now get out of my house." A small sigh escaped her lips. "My mother will be home soon. You know she hates you."
"Goodbye, Lillian."
Lilac flinched at hearing her real name, but waited until the girl was gone. She pulled out a match.
- - -
Sunset glanced back at Adagio. "Are you okay?"
"Yes," Adagio said. "I'll be fine once we find out who killed my sister. And the others."
Sister... Sunset sighed. I can't believe Dawn is here.
They soon turned to the street where Sunset's apartment stood.
Dawn was already there, along with the rest of their friends. They didn't let the girls get any closer.
"We tried to call you, Sunset," Fluttershy breathed.
"My phone died," Sunset blinked. "Why? What happened? Did A come and kill more people?" Then she smelled smoke. "Oh...crap." She broke into a run.
"Sunset! No!" Dawn grabbed the hood of her sister's jacket.
"I have to get the book Celestia gave me!" she gasped.
Dawn glared at her. "No. I can tell your leukemia is acting up. I don't want you to go in a burning building." She saw the pained look on Sunset's face. "Wait here. All of you. I'm going to get the book out."
Sour Sweet grabbed Sunset's arm before she could run. "She'll be fine."
Sunset gasped. "Pinkie wasn't." Be safe, my sister. I can't lose you.
But that was the last thing she remembered.

"Sunset?" A gentle voice whispered. "Sunset?"
Her eyes flickered open. "Mom?"
Sunrise Shimmer smiled. "Hello, my dear. I know I haven't come to see you in a while. I'm sorry you had a small attack today. I remember how much of hurt me to live with leukemia."
"I'm happy, though," Sunset whispered. "I love everyday I spend with my friends."
"Good. I'm glad you found people that you love to be with."
Sunset sighed. "After you died, I hated my life. I hated studying with Celestia, going to school, and even visiting my friends. That was when I knew that I would die as well, and I just wanted to do something more with my life. Even though you were dead, I knew you would still be watching me. I thought becoming a princess would make you proud of me."
Her mother stroked her hair. "Oh, Sunset. I was always proud of you. And I know I never had the chance to say it, but I'm sorry you had to live like this. The only thing I ever wanted was for you to be happy. But you weren't. I could never give you the life, or the care, that you deserved. I wish I could have raised you better."
"No, mother. You raised my beautifully. You taught me how to love all of the good things in life. I deeply thank you for that."
Sunrise bent over, and kissed her daughter's forehead gently. "I wanted to be part of your life for much longer, but that was sadly not meant to be."
Sunset felt her eyes grow heavy. Her voice was tired when she spoke again. "Thank you...for giving me...all that you...did." Her vision was swamped with blackness. She soon fell back into a deep sleep.
"Sunset?" Another soft voice said. "Sunset? Wake up, Sunset."
And she woke up...again. Her emerald eyes flickered around the room. Her head felt heavy. "Wh- where am I?"
Lilac smiled at her. "You're in the hospital, dear. Your leukemia was acting up." She put her cold fingers on Sunset's cheek. "How do you feel? Do you remember what happened?"
"Yeah, there was a fi-" she stopped. "Dawn...Where is she?" Her girlfriend didn't answer. "Where's my sister?"
"They put the fire out, but they haven't found her body yet."
Sunset squeezed the blanket in her hand. No...
Lilac sighed. She grabbed Sunset's other hand. "I'm sorry, Sunset, but theres no way she could have survived the smoke."
Sunset blinked away her tears. "She's dead. My sister is dead."
Her gaze drifted slowly to a card on the table next to her.
Oh no.
Thanks for Dawn Shadow. I really enjoyed her life. And her death. -A
