When the world around me is dark,

Dreary, cold, and miserable,

And the day seems to lack any spark

To make life more bearable,

Then, I escape into a world of dreams,

Where everything is not what it seems.

I step into the mystic portal

Of the pages of a book,

And let it guide me to places immortal

Where true human eyes can never look.

I let the effect sink in to my very bones

And hope I never have to go back home.

Page after page, I continue to read,

With all of my worries gone in the breeze;

Gone farther away than the eye can see,

While my mind is taken up in these fantasies.

And when I must sadly turn away,

My mind lingers there for the rest of the day.
