8. Picnic

When Lia woke up later that morning, she didn't automatically remember the events from earlier. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she rolled out of bed and entered the kitchen. It was only then that she fully remembered what had happened as she looked at Jimin seated on the floor by the front door. His back was against the wall and his head was slightly off to the side as he slept.

"Yah..." she said, crouching down beside him and gently shaking him by the shoulder. "Wake up."

Jimin let out a small moan, opening his eyes to look right into her face.

"What did you sleep on the floor for?" she asked as she extended him a hand and helped him to his feet. "I have a perfectly nice couch that you could have slept on."

"It's okay. I didn't mean to nod off," said Jimin as he moved towards the kitchen behind Lia. "So, do you have any plans for your Saturday?"

"Not at the moment," said Lia as she stifled one final yawn, throwing open her fridge. She grabbed up the coffee she hadn't drunk the night before, putting it on the counter before looking for two cups. "Why? Do you?"

"Besides get to know our new friend more, no."

"You guys really don't have friends?" asked Lia, realizing how rude that must have sounded. "I'm sorry. I didn't..."

"You're fine," said Jimin with a small smile, "But yes. We don't have friends. Kind of hard to when we're only around once a week."

Lia popped the cap off the coffee, splitting the coffee between the two glasses she had found in the cupboard. She put the soon empty coffee bottle down before holding a glass out to Jimin. He took it with the same smile still on his face, downing the contents.

"Can you tell me about that? About what happened to the seven of you?" asked Lia.

Jimin shook his head as he brought the glass away from his lips, now sporting a thin coffee mustache.

"No. I can't. At least not now. I don't have the all clear to."

"Who has to give you the all clear...wait, let me guess. Namjoon?"

Jimin nodded.

"He's the leader. He's the one that came up with the binder and that discovered all this craziness to begin with. He's the reason we're not in some insane asylum or lab."

Jimin stopped talking then, moving to walk over to the windows that Lia had in the living room that faced out towards the street. He paused there with the half emptied glass in his hand, surveying the bright blue sky with his eyes.

"Lets go for a picnic today," said Jimin suddenly changing the topic.

"That's how you want to spend your Saturday?"

"Well, at least part of it," said Jimin as he turned to look at Lia with a smile. "I know the perfect spot to have it."

Lia began to wonder if all these men she was suddenly meeting all had an infectious smile.

"Alright then. Sounds like fun. It has been a while since I've been on one."

As soon as she agreed to go on the picnic with Jimin, he practically jumped out of joy. She chuckled, wondering what other things this Saturday would bring.

"This is a nice picnic spot," said Lia as she sat on the red and white checked blanket that Jimin had spread out for them.

"I've come here a couple of times," said Jimin as he began to dig sandwiches out of a reusable bag. "It's a good place to get inspired."

Lia nodded as she moved to take one of the sandwiches, unwrapping it from the Saran Wrap. They had raided her fridge before heading out to the park, and had made the sandwiches from whatever was in her fridge. Jimin had helped her pack everything before walking with her to the park

"How are you not hot in all that black clothing?" asked Lia as they began to eat.

Jimin shrugged as he glanced down briefly at his black v-neck long sleeve and black jeans. The only thing not covered in black currently were his face and his feet which were housed in some sandals he had shoved them into before they left.

"We don't dare wear anything else," said Jimin. "Besides, it's easier to put the disguise back on when we go home."

Lia fell silent as her eyes flicked about the park they were eating their picnic in. A few sprinklers were situated here and there while a little ways away there were kids playing an intense game of tag. Jimin turned his head to follow the track of Lia's gaze, smiling.

"I used to be pretty good at tag," said Jimin.

"Really?" asked Lia.

"Oh, the best, and if I did ever get caught and tagged, I would have a neat way of getting out of it. I'd just bat my eyelashes and give a classic puppy dog look."

"So you'd cheat in other words?"

Jimin chuckled as he said, "It's called being strategic."

"It's cheating," said Lia. "Strategically cheating."

Jimin continued to chuckle as Lia joined in. The two of them made some small talk as they finished eating their sandwiches, enjoying getting to know little odd things about one another such as their favorites. As they eventually began to pack up their things to head back towards the apartment, Lia heard a metal clicking noise nearby as she stood up.

"Jimin..."

"Yeah?" he asked as he stood up too, trying to bundle up the picnic blanket in his arms.

"What is that noise?"

"What noise?"

The clicking seemed to be getting louder until suddenly the sprinkler system in the park kicked on. Lia let out a squeal at the sudden rain of cold water that showered down on the two of them. Jimin - laughing - unbundled the picnic blanket in his arms and moved to hold it above their heads like an umbrella. Lia looked over at Jimin's smiling face, smiling back at him.

"Don't worry! I will protect you!" said Jimin as the two of them grabbed up the remaining materials from their picnic and ran squealing out of the park like best friends.
