Chapter Twenty-Seven
I was waiting for Rumple as he went to conjure his shadow to hide his dagger when I kept thinking about Rumple saving Henry, and Rumple's death.
Rumple told me when I was Lacey that Henry would be his undoing, that that is what the prophecy had said. But does his undoing have to necessarily mean death? Maybe he just goes through something traumatic and still comes back alive?
I really hope the prophecy does not mean that saving Henry will cause him to die because I don't know what I'd do if he died. Rumplestiltskin is my soulmate. We met under unforeseen circumstances but that led us to where we are today.
I was sitting on a log when he came back to me. "So, you did it?" I asked. "You hid the dagger?"
Rumple nodded his head. "Yes, now it's in a place I won't even be able to find. I can't let Pan or his lost boys get a hold of it," he said. I grew silent. "What's wrong, Liana? Somethings been bothering you. I can see it in your eyes."
"Rumple..." I sighed. "I'm scared. I'm scared of losing you."
"Sweetheart, I'm sorry," he said. "Too be quite frank, I'm scared too. I don't want to lose what we have. What we have built together." I nodded. A tear dropped down my face. Rumple became closer to me and wiped away my tear. "I love you. You know that right?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded my head.
"And if I'm gone... I'll love you forever. I'll be with you forever. You understand me sweetheart?" Rumple questioned.
I nodded. "Good." Rumple then engulfed me into a hug.

After taking a nap by some bushes, I see Rumple putting on war paint.
"You have always felt more comfortable behind a mask," I stated, getting up from the blanket and walking over to him.
"You were the only one who could ever see past it, past the mask of the monster," he said.
"Only because I was a monster too," I added. "So why bother putting it back on now? I don't think it would change anything, would it?" I asked.
"I need the monster, Liana," he said. "It's the only way I can save him. And that's what I've decided. I'm gonna save Henry."
"I was thinking about the prophecy earlier," I stated.
"Oh really?" he questioned. "What about it?"
"The prophecy states that Henry is your undoing. To save him, you ensure your own death. But what if that's not what the prophecy means?" I started.
"What?" Rumple asked, his eyebrows raised.
"What if... when the prophecy says 'undoing' it doesn't mean death," I said.
"That's quite optimistic of you, love," said Rumple.
"But think about it. The prophecy doesn't actually say death, does it? Undoing can mean many things. Perhaps you'll just go through something traumatic or you'll lose something, even come close to death but never actually die?"
"Liana, that's a nice thought," said Rumple. "But I have a feeling the prophecy means death. I am going to die. I know that you're scared, as you told me earlier. I'm scared too. We can't be having this same conversation over and over again. We have to focus our full attention on saving Henry."
I sighed. "Alright then." I grab on to his hand. "Let's save Henry."

We were now walking through the woods again, when all of the sudden we both heard whispering and groaning. Rumple told me to stop walking by putting his hand up. "Bae?" Rumple questioned, as a man who appeared to be Baelfire came out of the woods. "You're not real. You're dead."
"What?" he asked. "Of course I'm real. What the hell's going on!?"
"You're a vision!" Rumple said, pointing the spear at him. He really didn't believe...
"Rumple," I said. "I see him too. He's real."
"No, no, hey. Listen to me, it's me. I was shit. Okay? But I survived. See? I'm alive."
"Rumple, did you not hear him?" I asked. "He's real."
"My son is dead Liana!" He cried. "He's just here to remind me of my failure."
"That's not why I'm here," said Bae.
"My weakness," said Rumple.
"Rumple, if he isn't real... how come I can see him too?" Rumple wasn't listening to me. He was ignoring me.
"Put the spear down," Bae ordered.
"You're here to question my resolve," he said. I placed my hand on my forehead in annoyance. "But you won't succeed! I will sacrifice my life for Henry. And nothing will stand in my way!"
"Please, Papa," Bae whispered. Bae gasped for air. "Bae is that really you?"
"Yeah," said Bae. Rumple finally let go of Bae and dropped the spear. I sighed.
"I thought I lost you forever," said Rumple.
"So... how is this even possible?" I questioned.
"Oh Bae, this is Liana. I forgot to introduce you two," said Rumple.
Bae smiled at me. "It's nice to meet you Liana. Thank you for everything."
"Of course," I smiled.
"So... it's kind of a long story," said Bae. "Let's just say that the debt Robin Hood owes you has been paid."
"You were back in our land?" Rumple asked.
"Yeah, but I made it here. The only thing that matters now is that I help Emma save Henry. Where is she?"
"Liana and I left her and the rest of them aboard Hook's ship. As noble as their intentions may be, they don't have the stomach to do what needs to be done."
"Like what you did to these boys? They're not uh..."
"Relax Neal," I said. "They're just sleeping. I made sure of it."
Neal nodded his head. "Let's leave it that way, okay?"
"You don't have the stomach either," said Rumple.
"I'll do what needs to be done," Neal replied. "But kill the lost boys? We don't have to do that."
"We shall see," said Rumple.
"So I take it you two have a plan?" he asked. "The whole sacrifice your life thing was just you being dramatic."
I looked down at my boots. "Well, it's the only way. Pan's too powerful. You can only beat him if you're willing to die, which I am."
"What if I told you guys there was another way?"
As soon as Neal said that, my head shot up. "If there is... tell us," I said. "I can't lose your father..." I said.
Neal nodded again. And we were now walking by the shoreline, by the water. "So what exactly is your plan?" Asked Rumple.
"So you guys know how if you hold a shell up to your ear you can hear the ocean?" he asked.
I nodded. "Sure, my friends and I used to do it all the time in Narnia."
"You're from Narnia?" Neal asked. I nodded my head. "I thought that was only myth. A story written by C.S. Lewis."
"Nope," I said. "Just like you guys I'm real and so is Narnia."
"Huh," said Neal. "Anyways... with certain shells the ocean can hear you."
Neal picks up the shell, called the conch and plays it. "Why would we need the ocean to hear us?" asked Rumple.
"Yeah, I'm just as confused," I said, crossing my arm.
The music notes continue. And then the waves start crashing rapidly. "What have you done?" Rumple asked.
"Give me the spear," said Neal.
The squid comes out of no where and starts to grunt, and roar. "A squid?" Rumple and I questioned together, locking eyes with one another.
"That's right," said Neal. "I believe you know how to extract ink from one of these bad boys."
"Squid ink. So that's your plan?"
I bit my lip.
"It can immobilize the most magical of creatures. At least for a little while..." said Neal. "Even Pan."
"I have some experience with it," said Rumple.
"Can you get it out?" asked Neal.
"Indeed. But how do you plan on getting close enough to use it?"
Neal sighed. "I don't need to get close. All I need is one clean shit to get Henry back."
"Well, leave that to me."

We had found Pan's camp. The lost boys were yipping around. To be quite honest, it was kind of creepy.
The wind started to blow. "We have guests!" Pan announced. "No doubt someone who knows how much I like guessing games. Who could it be? I guess..."
The fire wooshes and crackles. "The dark one and the Princess of Narnia. Come to save Henry, have you laddie?"
The lost boys were whispering. I kept my eyes on them. "How exciting. The dark one ready to sacrifice his life for his family. Speaking of family..."
The fire wooshes again. "You can come out now Baelfire."
"Name's Neal now," said Neal.
"New name, but the same old tricks. It's heartwarming to see father and son working together, especially after you abandoned him, Rumple. This is a real family reunion. Especially with your little girlfriend by your side as well."
I gritted my teeth.
"What are you waiting for?" Rumple asked.
"I got this," said Neal.
Neal was going to stab Pan in the neck with the arrow by shooting it. "Clever," said Pan. "But we've been through this before, Baelfire. Have you remembered nothing?"
"I remember plenty," Neal said. The arrow clattered. "That's why I didn't coat the tip." We had caught him.
"Grab Henry," Rumple ordered.
"Well, how about that? I'm impressed. But are you sure you're really saving him, Bae?"
"What could be worse than leaving him here with you?" asked Neal.
"Why don't you ask your father? Sometimes the people we should fear the most are the ones closest to us."
"W... what's he talking about?"
"Rumple, you should tell him the truth before this escalates," I whispered into his ear.
"Don't listen to him," said Rumple.
"You mean you two haven't told him?" asked Pan.
"Told me what?" asked Neal.
Oh no.
"About the prophecy of course," said Pan.
"What prophecy?" Neal looked at Rumple. "What's he mean?"
"The prophecy that says you've been tricked. You're father isn't here to rescue your son. He's here to murder him."
