Chapter Twenty-Nine

Liana's POV

Rumple and I were at another campsite, and he was closing his eyes, concentrating. I don't really know what he was doing, so I just left him alone.

And before I knew it, Pan came. "You can't see the future here," he said. "It's impossible to see the future in a place where time stands still."

"I may not see the future here," said Rumple. "But I can make it happen."

"Was that a threat?" Pan scoffed. I rolled my eyes. "And here... I made you your favorite breakfast. Eggs in a basket. I thought you and your little girlfriend could use it. You looked a little down in the dumps."

"I'm fine," he said. Even though I know that wasn't true. "We're both, fine."

"Sure you are Rumple," said Pan. "You lost your son, Neal. Again. And Henry's unattainable because... Well, you'd have to go through me, and we both know you can't. You still like the yolk runny, don't you?" Pan asked, as he was still cooking over the fire. I looked between Rumple and Pan. Rumple has now opened his eyes so he was staring right at his father.

"What do you want?" Rumple asked.

"Well, if you two won't eat, then I will," said Pan, taking a bite of the food. "I'm just trying to point out the silver lining in your cloudy life."

"That by killing you, all our troubles end?" asked Rumple.

"All three of us know that's not going to happen, because the only way for you to do that is for you to die, too. You two can go, leave this island," he explained. I frowned.

"And abandon my son?" Rumple questioned. "And Henry? I don't think so."

"Look, even if you did save them... which you won't... what would be the point? They'll never forgive you for all the horrible things you've done."

"You don't know that," I snapped.

Pan chuckled as he looked at me. "Oh the protective girlfriend."

Rumple glared at Pan in annoyance.

Pan then looked at Rumple again. "Have you forgiven your father?" he asked. Rumple stayed silent. "You see my point? Back to that silver lining... you and Liana have each other. Liana you seem like a nice girl, so Rumple, stop this foolishness and make a new start with her. Liana, you look fertile enough. Maybe a new child? You and I both know that's the only future for you. Assuming that you want to live... Enjoy the eggs...."

Pan then got up and left. I looked over at Rumple who looked like he was going to burst into tears all over again. I moved closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me and nuzzled his nose on the top of my hair.

"Liana..." he said, holding me tighter.

"Yes?" I questioned.

"I don't know what to do," he said. "I mean... I know what I have to do... but I don't want to die... Liana...."

"I know Sweetheart, I know," I said.

"I want to have the life I never got. I want to have my son and Henry back in my life again. And I want you to be with me by my side every second of the day. When I'm gone, you'll be all alone-"

"Rumple," I interjected. "You know that I don't want you to die either. But I think I've finally... accepted it. If you want your son and the Charming's to forgive you, you're going to have to sacrifice yourself to save him."

"I-I know..." he said. He pulled me closer to his chest. "I just don't want to let this go. You are the love of my life Liana," he said. "You make everything better."

I smiled and looked up at him. "Rumple—"

Before I could say what I wanted to say, Regina walked out of the clearing. "Enough of this," she said.

I furrowed my eyebrows and Rumple turned to face her. "Regina!" Rumple spat.

"You two need to stop bickering," she said. "Or whatever it is that you are doing..."

"Why are you here?" asked Rumple.

"If we're gonna get Henry, I need you. I need Rumplestiltskin. And I need you too, Liana, the Princess of Narnia."

I crossed my arms. "So all of the sudden you want to join us?" I asked.

Regina scoffed. "I've been camping with the Charming's for a week and getting nowhere," she said.

"Hmmm, hmmm," I said.

"Well, the problem is dearie, is that Rumplestiltskin can only stop Pan by dying," said Rumple.

"You're not gonna die at anyone's hands but my own. You, me, and Liana, we're the three most powerful practitioners of magic who have ever lived. The Evil Queen, The Princess of Narnia, and The Dark One joining forces? I'd say we can find another way to handle one smug teenager."

I bit my lip. "You've never faced him," said Rumple. "I have. And I know what killing him requires. And that is—my life."

"Well, as much as I want to, maybe we don't have to kill him," said Regina. I raised an eyebrow. I was intrigued. The Evil Queen suggesting that she doesn't want to kill someone? "If that's the case , then... Maybe we can find another way... something to contain him, some other fate."

"A fate worse than death," said Rumple.

"Now we're talkin, there's my malevolent imp. Is there a spell you know? Something we can enact?" she questioned. All of the sudden my eyes widened at this new idea that had just popped into my head. "Liana. You have something don't you? What is it?"

"I think Rumple has something in his shop," I said. Rumple looked at me with confusion. "Rumple, you have to know what I'm talking about."

"Oh yes," he said. "Yes. I know exactly what you're talking about my dear."

"I wish we had it here," I said.

"Then why didn't you two bring it with you in the first place?" she asked.

I looked at Rumple. "Because I came here to kill him and die in the process!"

Regina laughed. "I could've told you that wasn't gonna to happen. You forget, dear. I've known you a long time even longer than Liana here."

I nodded in agreement. "That is true. She's known you longer than I've known you."

"So, that means, I know all about your survival instincts," she said.

"Yeah, well, they just kicked in," said Rumple.

"Good," said Regina. "So now we just need a change of plans. We need to get back to your shop, pick up this magical item, and then all of our problems are solved."

I scoffed. "Crossing realms?" I questioned. "Is that all?"

"Yes, that's all."

We were now walking along the shoreline of Neverland. Regina found a conch shell and picked it up. "If you think summoning a giant squid is the answer, we've already tried that," said Rumple.

"Oh, you two have had fun, haven't you? I have no intention of ordering Calamari." I furrowed my eyebrows as I watched Regina whisper into the conch shell. A few minutes later a beautiful girl with red hair emerges out of the water. "Hello, Ariel," said Regina. "Long time."

"It's true mermaids can travel across realms, but they can't be trusted," said Rumple.

"This one can," said Regina. I looked at Regina and then at the girl in the water who was apparently a mermaid. "We have a history together."

"Well, that should explain the distasteful look on her face," said Rumple.

"And now she's going to help us, after who knows what you probably did to her?" I asked.

"Yes I believe she will," said Regina.

Ariel mouthed "no".

"Oh right, your voice," said Regina. Regina waved her hand, returning the mermaid's voice.

"Why would I help you?" asked Ariel.

"Because I can give you what you want," Regina replied. Regina places out her hand and a bracelet appears in Ariel's hand. "I can give you legs, Ariel. And this time, control over them. But more importantly, I can give you what you need most."

"What?" asked Ariel.

"The place I'm sending you... among its residents... is your Prince Eric."

"What's the name of this place?" asked Ariel.

Regina smiled. "StoryBrooke."
