Chapter Twenty-Five (s3)

Liana's POV|

Rumple and I had decided to go on a walk together, to celebrate the saving of StoryBrooke. As we walked, our arms were entertained as well as our hands. As we got closer to the docks, I see that The Charmings were chasing down Gregg and Tamara. "What's happening?" I questioned, locking eyes with Rumple.

"I have no idea," he said.

We came closer and we saw that Tamara and Gregg had taken Henry into the portal. My heart leaped.

"No! No! No! We have to follow them! There has to be a way!" Emma cried.

"Not only do we not know where they went, but Hook stole the last bean!" Regina said, her arms crossed.

"I don't care!" said Emma.

"They've taken Henry?" Rumple spoke up, his face full of gloom.

"Yeah," said David. "You're the dark one. Do something."

"Gold, help us, Liana, please," said Emma.

"There's no way," said Rumple. I frowned. "I spent a lifetime trying to cross worlds to find my son. There's no way in this world without a portal."

"So that's it?" Regina questioned. "He's gone forever? I refuse to believe that."

I then look out at the ocean and notice something coming towards us. It almost looked like a ship. "What is that?" I asked.

"Hook," said Emma. The ship finally docked and Hook came out on to shore. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Helping," replied Hook. I scoffed. Yeah right.

"Well, you're too late," said Regina.

"Am I?" questioned Hook.

"I thought you didn't care about anyone but yourself," said Emma.

My eyes widened as Hook held out the magic bean to Emma. "Maybe I just needed reminding that I could."

I rolled my eyes. He's only doing this for Emma because he likes her.

"Enough waiting around," said Regina, getting annoyed. "Let's go."

"Go? Where? I thought we were saving the town," said Hook.

"We already did," said David.

"We need to get Henry," Emma explained. "Greg and Tamara took him through a portal."

"Well I offer my ship and my services to help follow them," he said.

"Well, that's great Hook, but how do we track them?" Asked Regina.

"Leave that to me," said Rumple. I looked up to him. "I can get us to where we need to go."

"Well, let's do it," said Mary Margaret.

"Liana," Rumple turned to face me. Oh no... "I have to go. You have to stay here."

"No. Why? I wanna help," I said.

"The town is no longer safe," he said.

"What?" David and I asked in union.

"Well Greg and Tamara weren't working alone. Others will follow," he said.

"No," said David. "We can't leave people in danger."

Rumple takes out a small piece of paper and hands it to me. "What is this?" I questioned.

"After we've gone, follow these instructions. It's a cloaking spell. It'll shield the town, making it impossible for anyone to find."

"No," I said. "I'm not doing this."

"Love—" started Rumple.

"Rumple. I am coming with you."

"Liana, no," he said.

"We don't have time to fight," I said. "I know you want to protect me, but I also want to protect you." Rumple's eyes softened.

"Then who will cast the spell?" asked Rumple.

"I will," said a enchanting Australian accent. Rumple and I turned to see my friend Belle standing there. "I'll do it."

"You will?" Rumple questioned. "Why?"

"The town needs protection," she said. "And Liana needs to go with you to save Henry."

"Are you sure?" I questioned Belle.

Belle nodded her head. "Absolutely."

"Thank you," I said. "You are a godsend."

Belle smiled as I gave her the piece of paper that Rumple gave me. Belle then gave me a hug, and I hugged her back. "Come on, let's go," said Rumple. "The others are on the ship already."

I nodded and let go of Belle. "Thank you again."

"Of course. And good luck."

I turned to Rumple before he took a hold of my hand and we walked up to the Jolly Roger, Hook's ship.

We were now aboard the ship and Rumple and Hook were now looking at each other. "So, are you done trying to kill me?" he asked. I crossed my arms, glaring Hook down.

"I believe so," said Hook.

"Excellent," said Rumple. "Then you can live."

I rolled my eyes at Rumple's comment as I then watched Rumple make a magical globe appear. Rumple then poked his finger with the needle that was on the globe and used the blood to create a map.

"Where is that?" I asked.

"Yeah, where did they take Henry?" asked Regina.

Everyone then turned to face Hook as he said, "Neverland."

+++

Hook had opened a portal by throwing the bean into the water. "So who are we up against?" asked David. "Who are Greg and Tamara?"

"They're merely pawns, manipulated by forces far greater than they can conceive. They have no idea who they're truly working for."

"And who's that?" asked Emma.

"Someone we all should fear," replied Rumple.

In realization, I then mumble, "Peter Pan."

We had finally gone through the portal and came out on another ocean. In the distance I could see a mysterious island.

"Is that it!?" Emma said.

"Aye, Neverland," Hook replied.

Rumple and I locked eyes with each other. "Rumple... can I ask you something?"

"What is it dearie?" he asked moving closer to me.

"Why didn't you want me to join you on the adventure to save Henry?" I asked. Rumple looked down at his shoes. "Rumple, please tell me." I grabbed a hold of his hand. He looked into my eyes again, and all I could see was fear. Rumple then brought me someplace private below the decks. "Rumple what is wrong?" I asked.

He sighed and sat down on one of the beds in the cabin. I sat down next to him and still held his hand that was now shaking. Rumple bit his lip before he started to talk. "The prophecy," he said. I furrowed my eyebrows. "The boy is my undoing, but he's also my grandson. I love him so I must save him. I must do this to honor Baelfire. He's gone and I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye," he said.

"Oh sweetheart," I said, placing my other hand on his cheek. He then nuzzled his nose into it. "You think you're going to die, aren't you?"
Rumple nodded and breathed in my scent. "That's why you didn't want me to come along. You didn't want me to see you die," I said, connecting the dots.

"Liana," he cried, I could feel a tear touch the palm of my hand. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you're going to have to watch me die."

"Oh no sweetheart," I said. He looked up at me, more tears starting to form in his eyes. "I'm not going to let that happen."

"But the prophecy," Rumple said.

"I don't give a damn about that prophecy Rumplestiltskin," I said. He seemed shocked that I called him by his full name, as I only did that on a rare occasion. "All I give a damn about is your life. You see, I understand your fear Rumple, but I also know that the future isn't always what it seems."

Rumple began to cry again, but softly. "That's not all," he said.

"Then what else is there? Why else are you so scared? Rumple, I want to know so that I can help you."

Rumple then took both my hands in his and began to trace circles on them. He sighed. "Peter Pan is my father."

"What?" I questioned.

"Peter Pan—"

"I know. I heard you sweetheart," I said.

"Pan abandoned me as a child," he said. I frowned. "We were poor, very poor. We always had trouble trying to find something to eat or drink to keep us alive. But then my father heard about the magical beans that are used to transport to different worlds. He also heard of a place that will make you immortal, live forever," he said.

"Neverland," I said.

Rumple nodded. "Pan only cared about being immortal. He didn't care about me. He never had. So I left the island when he brought me here as a child and I went off to go make my life better. To make a family of my own."

"Milah and Bealfire," I said. He nodded again.

"I promised myself that I wouldn't be like my father. That I wouldn't abandon my child. But when... when I got tricked into becoming the dark one to protect my family, I became addicted to it. I became exactly like him. I left Baelfire just like my father left me."

"Oh Rumple," I said. He locked eyes with me. "That's not true. You didn't abandon your son."

"I did," he said. "What do you mean, I didn't?"

"Every day after Baelfire went through the portal, you kept trying to find a way back to him. And you did. You are not like your father, Rumple. Your father didn't come looking for you did he?" Rumple shook his head. "See what I mean?" He nodded.

"Thank you, Liana, I needed that," he said.

I smiled. "You see Baelfire would be so proud of you." I then kissed his forehead, and I cuddled into him.

Rumple and I then came aboard the top part of the ship. It seemed as though we were nearing the island, the ship was going slower. "Why are you slowing down?" asked Regina. "In case you didn't know, my son's life is in danger."

"Oh, I know, my hot-headed Queen. The plan is to bring us to the far side of the island, link up with the widest part of the river, and we'll sail right through, take him by surprise. The irony..."

"What Irony?" Regina asked.

"Oh, I spent more time than I care to remember trying to leave this place to kill Rumplestiltskin. And here I am, sailing right back into its heart with him and his girlfriend as my guests of honor. It's not quite the happy ending I was hoping for."

"Greg Mendell said something funny to me. He said I'm a villain, and that villains don't get happy endings. You believe that?" Regina asked.

"I hope not," replied Hook. "Or we've wasted our lives."

And then Rumple and I decided to change into our old outfits when everyone was busy. Rumple changed into his old leather pants, and jacket which made him look hotter than ever, when I changed into my old white dress that my mother had given me before the Narnian war.

As soon as we appeared back, I heard Mary Margaret say to Emma, "We'll find Henry."

"No you won't," said Rumple. Rumple and I stood at the helm in our old outfits.

"Oh, that's a great use of our time— a wardrobe change," said Hook sarcastically.

"Liana and I are gonna get Henry," said Rumple.

"We agreed to do this together," said Regina.

"Actually," said Rumple. "We made no such agreement."

"Why are you doing this?" Emma asked Rumple.

"Because I wanna succeed," Rumple replied.

"What makes you think I'm gonna fail?" Emma asked, her arms crossed.

"Well, how could you not?" Rumple questioned. "You don't believe in your parents, or in magic, or even yourself."

"I slayed a dragon," said Emma. "I think I believe."

"Only what was shown to you," I added. Emma then looked at me. "When have you ever really taken a leap of faith, Emma? You know, the kind where there's absolutely no proof? Rumple and I have known you for some time, Emma. And sadly, despite everything you've been through, you're still just that... bail-bonds person, looking for evidence," I explained. She glared hard at me.

"Well, dearie," Rumple started. "That's not gonna work in Neverland."

"I'll do whatever it takes," she replied.

"Well, you just need someone to tell you what that is. Sorry, dearie, our foe is too fearsome for hand-holding. Neverland is a place where imagination runs wild. And sadly, yours doesn't."

I watched as Rumple spun his cane, making it drop to the deck as we disappeared in thin air.
