Chapter Thirty-Seven

Liana's POV

Now we are at the town line, somehow we were able to fit all of us in two cars.

"There's no magic beyond the town line. If we release Pan outside StoryBrooke, he'll be powerless to fight back," Rumple said.

Rumple then attempted to cross the town line with Pandora's box in his hand. Emma then stepped in front of Rumple, blocking him from crossing the town line. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"Uh-huh," said Emma. "I'm doing this."

"I can cross the line and retain my memory," said Rumple.

"It's not about that. There's no magic over there. All due respect, the real world is my expertise." Emma then takes out her gun and stepped over the line. I gulped.

"You know, sweetheart, maybe she's right," I said.

"But he is my father," Rumple replied to me.

I sighed.

"It's my hunch," said Emma. "If I fail, you're more than welcome to pick up the pieces."

"Emma, be careful," Mary Margaret warned.

I then watched as Rumple unsealed the box, and placed it over the town line. Rumple then backed up next to me and I grabbed a hold of his hand, rubbing over his knuckles.

Pan is now released out. Emma aimed her gun at Pan. Oddly, he stood up in a daze and then turned around to face Emma. "Mom?" he questioned.

"What?" Emma asked.

"What are you waiting for? Shoot him," Rumple spat.

"Don't. Please. I'm Henry. Pan... he switched our bodies," he replied. My jaw nearly hung open.

I looked at Rumple. "He has to be lying right?" I questioned.

"Liana's right, he's lying. Don't listen to him. This is one of his tricks," said Rumple.

"No, it's not. He did it right before Mr. Gold captured me in a box, I swear." Pan took a step towards Emma.

Emma aimed her gun closer at him. "Ah, don't come any closer," said Emma.

"Just shoot him already Emma! Don't waste our time!" I shouted.

"Maybe he's telling the truth," said Emma. "Maybe that's why I can't shake this feeling something is off about Henry."

"Maybe that's what he wants you to believe," said Rumple. "If he steps over this line, we're all dead."

"All right, if you really are Henry," said Emma. "Prove it. Tell me something only Henry would know."

"I-I got trapped in the mines. I tried blowing up the well. I like hot cocoa with cinnamon," Pan replied. I shook my head in disapproval.

"This proves nothing," said Rumple.

"He's right, Emma," said Mary Margaret. "Henry could've told Pan all this in Neverland."

"Well, well, wait a minute," I said. Everyone turned to look at me. "I then looked into Pan's eyes and noticed the same spark of hope that Henry used to have. When I looked into Henry's eyes a few days ago, I noticed there was no spark. Maybe he is telling the truth...."

Emma nodded in agreement and then looked at me. "That gives us some proof. But we need more. Pan might know facts, but life is made up more than that— there are moments. He can't possibly know all of them."

"What are you getting at Emma?" I asked.

Emma ignored me and continued to speak. "The first time you and I connected— you remember that? Not met, but connected."

"Yeah," said Henry.

I furrowed my eyebrows again. "Where was it?" Emma asked.

"My castle," he replied. "Right after you came to StoryBrooke."

"And what did you tell me?" Emma asked.

"That I knew why you gave me up," he replied.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because you wanted to give me my best chance," he said.

Emma lowered her gun and tucked it away. "Henry," she breathed.

"Mom," he said. The two of them hugged.

"It is Henry," she said, looking at Rumple. "Promise you won't incinerate us when we step over the line?"

Rumple shook his head in agreement. Emma picked up the box and walked over the town line with Henry.

I watched as Henry hugged David and Mary Margaret. I smiled. I was glad they were all together again.

Emma then handed the box to Rumple. "I'm sorry I doubted you Henry," said Rumple. "And I'm sorry I put you in this box in the first place."

"I'm sorry too," I added. "I'll never forgive myself for yelling Emma to shoot you."

"It's okay," said Henry, still in Pan's body. "I would have done the same thing."

I smiled at Henry until David asked, "If he's all the way out here, where's Pan?" David questioned.

I frowned.

"Regina," Emma answered. "Her vault."

"Alright. We'll meet you guys there," I said.

Emma nodded. "I'll try to get ahold of her."

                                +++

We then took both cars to Regina's Vault, where apparently Regina was supposed to be "protecting Henry".

We parked in front of the vault and got out of the car. "Liana," Rumple said. "Sweetheart."

"Yeah?" I questioned him.

"I'd-I'd like you to stay in the car for this," said Rumple.

"What? Why? You know I can take care of myself," I said.

"I know. But... There's a lot of powerful magic that resides in Regina's Vault that Pan will have access to if Regina is still brain-washed by him."

"Rumple, I am coming with you all," I said. "I can take care of myself."

"Liana, I can't lose you. Brining you to Neverland was already dangerous enough—"

"Please, Rumple. I am coming. It's not your decision."

Rumple sighed and ran his fingers through his long hair. "Fine. But stay close to me, and get your ice magic ready if need be."

I nodded in agreement and stayed close to Rumple. "Regina's still not answering," said Emma.

Henry looked at Rumple. "When we find Pan, remember he's still in my body. So if you have to throw fire or something at least avoid the face."

I chuckled.

"I'll do my best," Rumple said.

We approached the vault. And outside waiting was Neal, Hook and Tinker Bell. "Is it really you?" Neal asked.

"Dad," Henry said, walking up to Neal. They hugged.

"Did you find the Shadow?" David asked.

"Not yet," Tinker bell replied.

"Well, we'll be ready for him when we do," says Hook, holding up two halves of a coconut.

"I think it's Pan we should be concerned about now," said Rumple.

"Yeah, Why are we still up here?" I asked.

"It's locked up tight," said Neal.

"Of course it is," I grumbled.

"Really?" Rumple questioned, trying to use his magic upon the vault doors.

"Told you," said Neal.

Rumple rolled his eyes and continued to try to open the door.

Rumple finally opened the door. I let out a sigh of relief. "Shall we go now?" I asked. The others nodded and I followed Rumple inside, the others behind me.

As we walked down the stairs, I noticed Regina was unconscious on the floor. "Regina!" I yelled, going up to her. Even though I disliked Regina, I didn't want anything bad to happen to her. Especially since she is also Henry's mother.

"Pan's gone," said David.

"We're clear down here!" Emma yelled to those still upstairs.

Rumple then lifted the Enchantment off of Regina. I sighed. "What? What happened?"

"It's Henry," said Emma. "Somehow Pan switched bodies with him."

"And I fell for it," said Regina, standing up.

"We all did," said Mary Margaret.

"I wanted to believe what was saying so badly I missed all of the signs. I just wanted to believe he still needed me to be his mother."

I frowned at Regina's comment.

"I still do," said Henry.

"Henry?" she questioned.

Henry gave her a hug. "So what exactly did Pan come down here to get?" David asked.

"Yeah, I'm a little curious too now," I said. "You did say there was some powerful magic down here earlier. What did you mean by that?" I asked Rumple.

I watched as Rumple held up one of his hands whilst using his magic to see if anything was missing. Then... his hand stopped at an open box made out of dark Mahogany wood. "Please tell me you didn't keep it down here," he said, looking at Regina.

"Where else would I keep it?" she asked.

All of the sudden I got this strange feeling that something bad was going to happen.

"What is it? What did Pan take?" asked Emma.

"The dark curse," Rumple replied.

"Wait, as in the curse that brought all of us here?" I asked. Rumple nodded.

"Why would Pan even want the curse?" Regina asked. "I already cast it."

"And I broke it," Emma finished.

"Well, that doesn't mean you can't cast it again," said Rumple. "And this time, without your parent's true love woven in, even you, Emma, would be powerless to break it."

I gulped.

"I don't understand," said David. "We're already in this land."

"What exactly would casting this curse in StoryBrooke do now?" Mary Margaret asked.

"Anything," Rumple replied. "Anything horrible that you can possibly imagine."

I then huddled close to Rumple. He wrapped his arm around me. "Because I could not stop for Death—" I started. Everyone looked at me in confusion. "He kindly stopped for me—The carriage held by just Ourselves—And immortality. Emily Dickinson, a poet from this world that I have grown to love. I think of this as a way to comfort me when death is a possibility. It's a reminder that we can become immortality. That we will get through whatever the hell this is. Pan will not beat us this time. We must have hope."

"I agree with Liana," said Henry. "We must have hope, otherwise we will not defeat Pan and I will never get my body back."

Everyone nodded in agreement and soon we were out of the vault.
