Chapter Fourteen

RUMPLE's POV

"Rumple?" Liana questioned, as we sat eating breakfast together.

    "What is it dearie?"

"I don't know what it is but... I'm not feeling that great. I think I might just head to bed."

I frowned and placed my hand on her forehead. "You are quite a bit warm," I said. "What is bothering you, dear? Nauseousness? Migraine?"

"It could be a migraine, my head is pounding, and my throat is sore."

"Alright well, it's probably best if you go get some rest. I'll try to whip up something for you."

    "Magic?" she croaked.

    "If you want?" I asked.

    "No," she said.

I nodded. "Alright, mind if I help you to bed? I want to make sure you're alright before I go off to the shop."

She nodded and she stood up, allowing me to walk her to our bedroom. Our bedroom. It just feels so surreal.

Once we get to the bedroom, I help her into bed and then I go over to shut the windows, and I grab her a cold washcloth. "Here, to put on your head," I say. She takes it from me and places it on her forehead. "I'm going to turn the lights off, alright? It'll be good for your head." Once I turned off the lights I walked back over to her and kissed her hand. "I'll be back shortly."

"Alright," she sighed and then I left, shutting the door behind me.

After doing some work at the shop, trying to figure out how I can cross the border while retaining my memories,  I came back home to check on Liana. I go to our bedroom and knock on the door. "Liana?" I heard no reply. Is she asleep? Is she worse off? "Liana," I said. "Is everything alright?" I questioned, opening the door slowly to only find that she was not in the room. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Liana?"

I then searched the rest of the house and I couldn't find her. I was starting to get worried, so, I did the last thing I ever thought I would do and went to her adoptive father's shop.

"I was wondering if you'd heard from your daughter?" I asked, showing him a flier I made.

He took the flier from me out of spite. "Is this some kind of cruel joke? Would I have made this flier if I knew where she was? The only reason she's missing is because of the deal I made with you. If I'd held out hope she might have survived such a wicked trade."

"And she has," I stated.

"Why hasn't she come looking for me?" he asked.

"Oh, she did. She even made a flier just like this one. But I don't know why she'd even bother after what you did to her."

Moe gulped. "I didn't mean it," he said.

"Sure, you didn't mean to abuse your daughter," I said. "I don't expect you to help me," I said, taking the flier from him. "I just want to know she's safe."

"And now, thanks to you, neither one of us knows where she is. You're a monster, Rumplestiltskin."

My heart then started to beat faster and I left the dainty flower shop.

The only other option I had was Charming. Disregarding the deal we made yesterday, I knocked on his apartment door. David opened it and frowned when he saw me. "May I have a word?" I asked. I furrowed my eyebrows, looking at the Sheriff's badge on his belt. "Sheriff?"

"Uh, acting sheriff," he said. "And I'm already late on another busy day cleaning up the mess you made."

"My apologies. That was a moment of poor judgment on my part." I then entered Mary Margaret's apartment. "And it's not lost on me that I'm now here to ask for your help."

"Well, it shouldn't be lost on you when I say no."

"Hear me out, first," I said. "I'm here to report a missing person." I handed him my flier of Liana. David sighed took and opened up the flier. "She left my home early this morning. Her name is Liana," I said.

"Back in our land, you mentioned you loved someone once, is-"

    I cut him off. "Yes."

"You also said she died," said David, shutting the door.

"I thought she had," I said, remembering Regina's little scheme.

"Well, why don't you use the tracking spell you gave me to find Jefferson?" he asked.

"It only works if you have something the person owned. I don't."

"How can you be sure she's gone missing and not run away?" he asked.

"I can't, the only evidence I have is that she was ill this morning," I said. "Look, the townsfolk are less than sympathetic to my plight. But you? You're in a rather unique position to understand exactly what I'm going through."

I watch as David goes to talk to someone across the street. David comes back over to me and says, "Do you remember turning a butcher into a pig?"

"Can't say that I do. Why?"

"Well, he does. Apparently it was his father." He then placed the flier against my chest. "I'm beginning to understand why nobody wants to help you."

"Well, well," I stammered. "Has he seen Liana?"

    "Afraid not."

    "Okay, so what's next?"

"Granny's, We can see who else you teroized there."

                    +++

When we got into Granny's and David gave my flier to Ruby, she said, "Liana, huh? Sorry. Doesn't ring a bell."

"Ruby, listen to me," said David. "If you've come across her, you've got to tell me. I'll make sure nothing bad happens."

"Yeah, but what about him?" Ruby asked, referencing me.

    "I've got him. Trust me."

There was silence before Ruby said, "She was in earlier. She was sick. Terrible migraine. Wanted some meds. I pointed her into the direction of the drug store."

My heart pounded even more. "Well, do you think she went there?"

    "Don't know," she replied.

"But when you find her," said Ruby, going behind the counter. "Give her this. She left it in her booth."

Ruby placed my shawl on the counter. I furrowed my eyebrows. "That's mine," I said. "She didn't have anything for the cold."

I take it in my hands, rubbing the soft fabric.

There was an awkward silence before Ruby looked at David and asked, "Are you sure you'll look out for her?"

    "Yes. Why?"

"I think," said Ruby. "I think I can find her. Lately since things changed, I've been, uh, a little bit more sensitive to odors."

"What, you can smell her?" I asked.

I then give her my shawl. "I guess it's because of the wolf thing."

Ruby then sniffs my shawl and we walk out of Granny's towards the flower shop.

    "What's wrong?" asked David.

"I had her, but I lost her trail," said Ruby. Ruby then sneezed. She inhaled deeply. "Oh. It must be the flowers. I can't track her anymore I'm sorry."

"Don't be," I said. "This is her father's shop."

I walked in and David and Ruby trailed behind me. Moe stepped out of the corner. "You again. Out. This is a private establishment, you're not welcome!"

    "Where's Liana?" I questioned.

"I won't let anything happen to her, Moe," David reassured.

    "We're just worried," Ruby added.

"Don't be. She's safe," he said. "So you can stop looking."

"Look, if I could just have the chance to talk to her..." I started.

"You want to destroy Liana like you destroy everything else," he said. "Well, I won't let that happen."

I then gritted my teeth. "What have you done with her?"

"There was only one way to get her away from you," he said.

I then grabbed a hold of his jacket and then pointed at him. "What have you done to her?"

"I have to make her forget about you. No matter the cost. Even if it means she forgets me, too," he said.

Realization dawned on me. "He's sending her across the town line."

David then took a hold of him as we walked out of the shop. "Where are you sending Liana across?" he asked. "You know we have patrols on the
StoryBrooke line to make sure no one crosses accidentally. So how are you planning to pull it off?" We make our way to his van. David opens it and then anger boils inside me. I take my cane and press him against the van.

"Where? Where are you sending her across? Tell me where!"

"Stop it! You're gonna kill him," said David, pushing me off Moe.

David then grabbed a hold of his hand. "You've been down in the mines," said David. "The tunnels, they lead out of town."

David pushes Moe into the van and Ruby was apparently at the driving wheel already. I then got in next. We were on my way to get my Liana back.

                    +++

We finally make it to the mines, and I can hear the cart rolling and Liana screaming. Once we got down here, I used my magic to bring back the cart towards me. "What is happening?" she asked.

"That is seriously... wow," said Ruby.
With the next move of my hand I uncuffed her.

David then got her out of the cart. "Liana, are you alright?" I asked, approaching her, scanning her up and down to make sure she had no cuts and bruises.

"Yeah, uh, I think so," she said.
I then looked into her eyes. "Do you remember who I am?"

"I do," she smiled. "Rumplestiltskin, I do."

I was so happy that she remembered who I was and that she was now safe, I gave her a hug and she hugged me back. I then kissed the side of her forehead.

I then removed myself from him. "I think I'm going to um... leave."

    "What?" I asked.

"Just for now, after what just happened. I need time to process..."

"Alright then," said Moe. "Come with me, Liana."

"After what you just tried to do to me?" she questioned. She then chuckled. "I can't believe I tried to make amends with you. You don't get to decide what I do or how I feel. I do. Moe, if you cared about me, as a father should, you would have listened," she said.

Liana then left, and I stood there to gather my thoughts. It took all my energy to not hit Moe in the face again. "Can I ask for a restraining order from this man?" I asked David.

    "Who? You?"

    "No, Liana," I said.

"No," said David. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Only she can make that decision."

I sighed. I then glared at Moe as I made my way out of the mines.
