Chapter Forty

Liana's POV

The spell had been broken, I could move freely once again. But the only movement I could make was the action of me collapsing onto the cold pavement of the road I was standing on. I let out a loud sob as I looked to where Rumple once stood.

"Rumple!" I cried, tears starting to fall down my cheeks. "No. No. I told you you weren't allowed to die!"

Belle knelt down, and placed her hand on my shoulder in attempts to comfort me. "He saved us," said Belle. "He saved you and Bae, his two loves."

Because of that I cried even harder. Belle rubbed my shoulder as Mary Margaret finally spoke. "Regina? Are you okay?"

I didn't even realize that Regina had picked up the scroll of the dark curse.

"I'm fine," Regina stood back up, her shoulder's tense.

"I'm sorry," Emma said out loud. However I knew she wasn't speaking to me. She was speaking to Neal.

How come Belle was the only one to comfort me when I was clearly in so much pain and grief? Did the others not care about me at all, and were only nice to me so they could get closer to Rumple, to use him for his magic?

I continued to sob. "My father did what he had to do," Neal replied. "He saved us. Regina, don't let him die for nothing." Regina said nothing in return. "Regina?" Neal spoke.

"What?" she questioned as if she didn't hear a thing Neal said.

I finally stood up with the help of Belle.

"We're here for a reason, love. Pan," said Hook.

"Is Dead," Regina completed his sentence.

"But his curse remains, Regina," I said. "Like Neal said, you can't let Rumple die for nothing. I will never forgive you if you do."

"So, can you stop it?" Hook continued. "Or should we all start preparing our souls cause' mine is gonna take some time."

In the distance I can see the green smoke coming. Leroy rings the bell on the tower so everyone can hear the warning.

Leroy then comes running towards us. "It's here!! The curse, it's here!! It's coming from all sides! There's no escape!"

"It's not too late. We can still stop it, right Regina?" David asked.

"Yes, yes," said Regina.

"W-what's the price? Mr. Gold said there is a price. What is our price?" Emma asked.

Regina turned around to face us finally. "It's not our price, it's mine."

"What are you talking about?" Emma asked.

"It's what I felt when I first held it...I have to say goodbye to the thing I love most."

Emma turned to look at Henry, who moved forward to stand beside her. "Henry?" she questioned.

"I can never see him again," Regina said. I frowned. This is not what I expected. "I have no choice. I have to undo what I started."

"The curse that brought us to StoryBrooke?" Mary Margaret asked.

"That created StoryBrooke," Regina replied. "It doesn't belong here and neither do any of us."

"Breaking the curse destroy's the town," said David in realization.

"It will wend out of existence as though it were never here. And everyone will go back to where they are from. Prevented from ever returning," Regina explained.

"We'll go back to the enchanted forest?" Emma asked.

My heart skipped a beat. Would I go to the Enchanted Forest or would I get sent back to Narnia?

"All of us. Except Henry. He will stay here... because he was born here," said Regina.

"Alone?" Emma asked.

"No, you will take him. Because you're the savior. And you were created to break the curse. And once again, you escape it," she replied.

"I-I don't want to. We'll both go back with everyone."

"That's not an option," she said. "I can't be with him. If I don't pay the price, none of this will work."

I gulped as I heard the Thunder of the curse's smoke in earshot.

"Emma you have to go," said Mary Margaret.

"I just found you," said Emma.

"And now it's time for you to leave us again. For your best chance. For his," said Mary Margaret.

"No. N-no I'm not... done. I'm the savior right? I'm supposed to bring back all the happy endings. That's what Henry always said."

Mary Margaret smiled. "Happy Ending's aren't always what you think they will be. Look around you. You've touched the lives of everyone here."

"But we're a family," said Emma.

"Yes, and we will always be. You gave us that."

"You and Henry can be a family. You can get your wish. You can be like everyone else. You can be happy," said David.

"It's time to believe in yourself," said Mary Margaret. "Emma. There's time for you to find hope."

Regina then looked at Emma as I let out a sigh. "I've known you for some time and all I wanted was for you to get the hell out of my life so I can be with my son. But really...." Her voice broke. "What I want is for Henry to be happy. We have no choice. We have to go."

"Okay," said Emma.

                               +++

Soon enough we were all at the town line, with Emma's yellow bug and everyone else was there to say goodbye. "This isn't fair. It's all my fault," said Henry.

"What do you mean?" Regina asked.

"If I had never gone to get Emma, if I had just lived under the curse with you, none of this would have ever happened. I thought I was alone. I-I thought you didn't love me. But I was wrong."

A tear dropped down my face.

"Henry," Regina spoke. "I was wrong too. It wasn't your fault, it's mine. I cast a curse out of vengeance and I'm-I'm a villain. You heard Mr. Gold. Villains don't get happy endings."

"You're not a villain. You're just my mom," said Henry, who engulfed her in a hug. How I wish I could hug Rumple at least one more time.

Emma moved from her parents to Neal. "Neal, I'm sorry," she said.

"Don't be. You've got a boy you got to keep alive here," said Neal.

"And you have to go back there. And wait a minute," Emma eyed me. I raised an eyebrow. "Will you go back there or back to Narnia?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. Regina," I said.

Regina looked at me. "What?"

"Where Will I go? Considering my past included The Enchanted Forest and Narnia."

"I'm assuming whichever has made you feel more at home," said Regina. "I don't really know."

"Hmm," I said.

I then looked to see that Neal and Emma were hugging each other. And then she removed apart from him. "Hey, this isn't over. I'll see both of you again."

Emma then looked over at me again, and held out her hand for me to shake it. "We haven't become the best of friends, but it was nice getting to know you Liana. And I'm sorry for your lost. I know how much Mr. Gold meant to you."

I smiled and shook her hand back. "Thank you, and same goes to you Emma."

She gave me a weak smile before walking back to her car. She is then stopped by Hook. "That's quite a vessel you captain there, Swan." Emma gave him a sad smile. "There's not a day that won't go by that I won't think of you."

And it was in that moment, I realized that Hook had feelings for Emma.

"Good," Emma replied, smiling.

"Emma, there's something I haven't told you," said Regina.

Emma sighed. "What now?"

"When the curse washes over us, it will send us all back. Nothing will be left behind. Including your memories. It's just what the curse does. StoryBrooke will no longer exist. It won't ever have existed. So these last years will be gone from both your memories. Now we'll be going back to being just stories again."

"What will happen to us?" asked Emma.

"I don't know," said Regina.

"Doesn't sound much like a happy ending," said Emma.

"You're right about that," I chimed in, still thinking about how I lost my happy ending. My Rumple.

Regina chuckled. "It's not. But I can give you one."

"You can preserve memories?"

"No, I can... I can do what I did to everyone else in this town. And give you new ones."

"You cursed them and they were miserable," said Emma.

"They didn't have to be," she said, grasping Emma's hands. "My gift to you is good memories, good life for you and—" she looked over at Henry who came over to her side once again. "Henry. You'll never have given him up. You'll always have been together."

"You would do that?" Emma asked, shocked.

"When I stop Pan's curse and you cross that town line, you will have the life you have always wanted."

"But it won't be real," Emma argued.

"It's still better than suffering through the pain," I said. Emma gave me a shrug.

"Your past won't be real. But your future will. Now go. There isn't much time left till the curse will be here any minute." Henry gave Regina one last hug and she kissed him on his head. Mary Margaret approached Emma, smiled, and placed a kiss on her temple.

I watched as Henry—who gave me a wink— along with Emma get into the yellow bug. They drive off, leaving us to succumb to the purple and green smoke, taking us back to where we came from.

Well, that was a loaded chapter! Tell me what you guys think in the comments about Liana going back to Narnia or the Enchanted Forest, and which you would prefer!
