Chapter 5- Better then a Daydream

The old decrypted castle with nothing but silence. The former world that was here was now his.

This universe didn't have a reset. It was a continuous timeline that never ends that provided souls for his creations. There are still people living in the world, kinda like living in an apocalypse. Most of the people that were living here when this first happened have already passed away. Now the next generation lives here, having it be normal now. There's even occurrences where the people go to him and plead for mercy for anything really. He normally ask for something in return or a simple no. At the moment the 'leader' was heading to meet with his most trusted advisors. His foot steps echoed around the walls as guards saluted and stood stern. The creature of pure fear walked by. His grin wide, as it always is.

He approached the double doors. The old wood cracking as the guards opened it. His foot steps echoed against the stone walls as he walked in.

The creatures inside stepped back and bowed as he walked in. He got to his chair and took a seat. The creatures also took their seats too. The tyrant yawned as he leaned forward. The female of the group stood up. "Your Majesty." She started. The skeleton only stared at her and sighed. "Resources are running low again." She paused and looked at the other mutts around her. "I have talked with my...co workers, ultimately we decided that the better course of action is to stop productio-"

"No."

The dog stood silent.

"But my Lor-"

"Be quiet," he started. "Even if we are running out of resources it won't change anything. They'll get whatever is at the bottom of the barrel." The skeleton leaned back and crossed his arms. "You really think I didn't know? I know what they're doing with my creatures when they're destroyed."

Mars lowered his ears a bit. While Luna regained her confidence to speak. "You're majesty I sincerely apologize. We didn't want you to worry about-"

"Worry? What for? This is a better opportunity then any of you realize." The dogs looked at each other confused. "Let's just say it's easier to taint the light then the darkness." He said with a wink. "So is that it?"

Luna looked over to Dusk. "Well..." He typed something onto the table as a hologram showed up. "We've taken over 7 other worlds in the past 16 hours." He slowly shifts the screen to form a more organized map. "Most provided no use others had a trace of something we're familiar with." Three of the seven worlds showed a little star. "Traces of his aura were here. We don't necessarily know what it means, but we are assuming either an evacuation or a wild goose chase."

The skeleton hummed to himself. "How fresh are they."

"Very stale." Nightmare hummed to himself again. "We'll keep an eye for new traces or what they have in common."

"That's quite strange. He hasn't appeared since I don't even know, decades now."

"Which makes this quite interesting."

Nightmare tapped his fingers on the table. "Keep an eye out for those places. As well as any other place he's decided to visit."

With those words said he put the monitor away. "Understood." Nightmare was quite for a second.

"Those snotty little brats have been making this process difficult, any sign of them you inform me immediately." He said getting up. "I don't want them interfering anymore." The mutts nodded. They new exactly what their creator wanted. "Now I dismiss this meeting for the mean time." The mutts stood up as he proceeded to walk out.

As the skeleton walked out, what seemed like a ball flew over to him. The ball glowed as a voice came out the speakers. "Hey your majesty! I kinda need you at the lab!" Nightmare flicked the ball as it flew away. I hate when they address me like that. He quickly melted away and changed into a puddle. He filtered through the corridors and reformed inside a laboratory. One of the newer additions to the castle. Nightmare opened his mouth to speak before being interrupted. "Aw man, he's here Mister Grumpy pants made it here before my robocom. You're getting good at this my man."

Nightmare rolled his eye. "Sometimes I have regrets of creating you."

The owl like creature laughed. "Oh please, I am the only one that was a success for a reason duh! Even if there were more of me, no one can do as good as I can." They muttered happily. "Plus-" The bird held out their wing once the com returned and was caught in their wing. "This place would be boring without me." Nightmare scoffed. "Oh don't be such a stuck in the mud."

They said walking over to a table. They typed onto a monitor before a click sound was heard from the other side of the room. "Did you finish it?"

"I believe I have!" they squawk walking over to what seemed like a cabinet unlocking. They flew up and opened it before bringing out what looked like a ring. They held it in front of him. Nightmare held it with caution.

"How does it work?" he asked quietly. "Seeing as it's a ring, it can be lost, broken. Can't you make more it portable? Like something I probably won't lose?"

"Weeeeeeell." Started the bird before grabbing it from him and dropping it to the floor. "It's seemingly unbreakable. A few weeks ago when we did the strength test on you, I wanted to see just how much that was. So using that information I made this thing as compatible to you as possible." They said. They then lifted a feather which the ring reacted to and it floated up. "Using some of your telekinesis powers I made something similar." They moved the ring up, down, left, right, and just all different directions. "It only reacts to you and I." Nightmare then tried it too. It moved to his direction and gently rested on his hand. "And if you were to lose it-" they paused as it flew across the room. Since the ring was clear seeing it was quite difficult. "You can easily call it back to you." It easily flew back over to them. "And portable...well, you can change it to whatever you want it to be." They said flicking it over to him. Nightmare caught it. He looked at it for a sec. It changed to a kitchen knife, then to a water bottle, a head band, head phones, glasses before changing back to a ring. "So it can be as you please."

"That's great and all, but does it work?" He said seeming unimpressed.

"I was getting to that before you cut me off." they added with a smile. "Put it on, however you want." He stared down to the ring. It shook slightly before shifting into a what seemed like a mask. It didn't have any textures or anything It was almost like plastic wrap even. Nightmare gently closed his eye as he put it on. It firmly stayed still It made a few clicks and all before it stopped making noise. "Now shape-shift into whatever, whoever, or anything in general." Nightmare thought for a sec before ultimately shifting into a more human appearance. He felt the mask stretch and adapt to his form. He was more or less human. "Now for the last step, go ahead and visualize the color and just the appearance." He thought for a second before the microscopic honeycomb shapes started to form the skin hair and just more details. Soon anything remaining from Nightmares previous appearance which limited him to about 3 colors now had tan skin, and colors. "Take a look in the mirror." Nightmare turned to the wall.

"You out did yourself Nighturnal." Nightmare shifted once again into something else. Visualizing it in his head as he shifted into another person and the masking keeping up with the changes. Soon enough he reformed back to his regular form. The masking turned off. He removed it off his face to returned it back to them.

"You can call me Nightingale."

Nightmare frowned. "To much individuality gets to your head."

The bird scoffed. "As you say." They said taking the device back. "Imma make a few adjustments and it shall be ready to go."

"You better make it soon."

"Oh don't worry your majesty. You can trust your dear old friend, Nightingale." Nightmare groaned. He turned wanting to get away from the bird. "Oh by the way I found out a bit about that scar of yours!" They chirped out. Immediately with much excitement he turned to face them. The bird smirked. Snickering a bit. "Hehe." They started. "BWAHAHAHA." They cawed out. They laughed hysterically. "I-I'm sorry PFFT HAHA I just-" they kept laughing. Nightmares patience was on a string. "I-"

Nightmare growled as his size started to build. It was like a Mish mash of goo his facial appearance disorienting. "Nightingale..." He started before the scar under his eye glowed. Nightmare shrieked as the pain crawled all over his body. He hissed as his body went back to its normal state. Nightmare regained control of his body. The scar pounding. Still heated about the mockery, he walked over to the scientist. "I'm at my fucking limit here. This stupid scar burns anything I do. If you think its funny then I suggest you say your last prayers." The Nightcrawler put her wings up.

"I understand your majesty. I do apologize, it will not happen again." They said feeling rather intimidated. "But there hasn't been any new developments. What ever she did to you, it's working."

Nightmare rolled his eyes. "Think I don't know that." He tapped his temple feeling rather annoyed. "I have too many restrictions, I can't even use my tentacles. It's annoying and painful at the same time." He stated looking to the side and touched his scar. Still feeling it pounding. "Those stupid kids."
