Chapter 2- The Planet with 79 Problems

The steps of the leader echo in the halls. Maids passed by while others stayed behind to clean the small dust and area. The young women gave them a thank you and a good morning as she passed them. Everyone's lively today. Thought the women. She kept walking seeing guards as they saluted to her, she nodded at them and continued to walk. She quickly reached the dining room as her siblings were already in there waiting for her. She kicked the doors open and walked in. "Morning family," she stated proudly. She stood proud and walked to the table. She leaned on the chair her brother was sitting on. "Funny how you guys wait for me but I don't even eat with you guys." Her brother groaned.

"Because Jupiter we're not assholes." He said leaning on the chair. Jupiter waved her hand around. "Besides you can eat you just don't want to." Jupiter took a seat next to her older sister.

"Psh, I wake up an hour early and get food okay? I take it to my room and have a small dance party." She said looking away crossing her arms.

"He has a point." Spoke Comet as the food came down the table. "We have many medical advances here. We can get that injury fixed." Jupiter looked at her. She gently caressed her face. "Our technology can support the growth of your cells reviving them and fixing that-"

"Stop it." Said Midnight as she grabbed a plate. "The scars some of us have is a reminder of our weakness. It's a way to say, 'don't fuck up again, lives depend on it'." Jupiter nodded. "At the same time, we don't know what could happen to us. Our bodies are of two different beings, the outcome could be something we've never seen." She said starting to eat.

"Well, that's why we have to try it out so my faction can run diagnostics and get everything in order." Said Phoenix starting to munch on his food.

Jupiter rolled her eyes. "Well enough of that," she said with a sigh. "I ran around town today and got a few things we should look at." She plopped the papers onto the table. "So first things first. Winter's on its way. The crops have already been settled and ready for the spring. Our trade-ins are coming in tomorrow and we'll be able to arrange food packages by the end of the week." She started. The other 3 kept eating while they listened. "Other minor things like a housing is coming along great, though they're probably going to stop with the next few houses to save up for firewood." She flipped a few more pages. "Then just a few confirmations with businesses and actions." She puffed a little and set the papers down. "And we have a shelter to go open today too," she added leaning forward a bit.

"Can't you guys go to that opening?" Said Phoenix eating some food on his plate. "I'm a little busy analyzing somethings today." Midnight shook her head.

"You're going. Have Gabe over view everything for now. As a leader you should be taking responsibility in actions that we have here." said Midnight pointing her fork over to him.

Phoenix sighed. "Fine. I just, it's frustrating. We've been getting so many signs of something...someone in these universes." He said slightly worried.

"You got nothing to fear." Said Comet placing her fork near her lips. "We picked a universe with no purpose, no resources. We're completely off the map. If we were to lose one person that'd be better then losing thousands."

It was quite for a moment.

Jupiter looked from side to side. "Ok then." She got up from her chair. She gently pushed it in. "I'll let you guys finish." She pushed the papers forward. "I'll be taking my leave." Letting go of the wooden chair she walked to her left. She guided herself to the doors that lead to the hallway. "Also, we gotta be at the shelter in about 2 hours." She said as she opened the door. She gently closed it behind her.

The young girl sighed as she let go of the knob. She looked down at her wrist. Her thin metal bracelet glowed for a second as a small screen showed the time. "Got enough time to shower." She told herself walking away and to her room. "Then do some paper work. And errands." She said listing a few things she needed to do.

Jupiter quickly retreated to her room. It was covered in canvases and empty paint bottles. She tossed her cape onto her bed and walked over to the bathroom.

In a few minutes she was out.

She had changed and refreshed herself. She walked to her cabinet and opened the top drawer. A display of masks appeared. She looked through them trying to find a new one. They were mostly dark and plain colors. She pulled out a black one. She walked to the bathroom and removed her old one before putting on the new one. She pat it down to make it fit neatly. She then placed the old one in her laundry. She looked at the time again. An hour and a half.

She then headed out of the room. She picked up the pace and took the stairs. She went up and followed the hallways. It was bustling up here. She proceeded through the hallways, doors, and beings passing by. Giving simple hellos and good days. She continued until she reached her office. Inside were papers and a little mini sculpture of the city. Jupiter went inside and walked to her desk which was more of a pile of papers. She glared at her seat. It looked so worn out from her being in here. She sighed and took a seat. As she chilled there and looked on in her work she got a knock at the door. She eyed the door as it opened. Justin came in.

"You've come to stop by in the misery I'm in?" Stated Jupiter flicking a pen and continuing to do her work.

"As always." Replied the dirty blonde woman. "I just came to get those applicant files. We got a few interests rookies coming our way." She said approaching the desk.

Jupiter sighed. She bent down and opened a drawer. "Didn't I tell you to keep them with you." She said pulling them out and handing them to Justin.

"Yep, I just thought that they're safer with you." Replied the assistant skimming at the papers. Justin turned around and headed for the door.

"Oh Justin before you go." Said Jupiter fixing herself on her chair. "I'm going to be gone in like an hour or so, mind helping me with setting up a patrol for me? I got a few trades to do in a few days." Justin hummed.

"Oh Jupiter what would you do without me." Say Justin flicking the folder. "I already did that. 6 am sharp at the western gate on Thursday." She said turning. Jupiter again opened her mouth to speak. "And yes I will help you out in here." She said opening the door. "So don't worry I've got it." She said shutting it.

Jupiter sat in her chair. She sighed. She looked out the window and saw the over view of the city. How beautiful it looked from here. Her expression softened. "This is home."
