Chapter 15- Theif
A large heap of snow was over by a man. His body is still and motionless. His clothes seemed to be of an upper class. His carriage nearby with no loot and no horse. Up ahead, a young man was walking away with a large satchel of goods. He whistled his worries away as he regained himself. He took a look down at his gloves as they fixated themselves. He was starting to lose his composure of his form. Nightmare clicked his teeth. "Tsk." He stopped walking and placed the bag down. "Dumb shit." He mumbled. He carefully touched his scar. He sighed quietly.
He took a look back and tried to get a glimpse of his back. He hummed quietly. He felt his back gurgling. Attempting to shift. He felt the physical manifestation of his tentacles. They were starting to grow. Almost immediately he felt the pain. The sting of it crawling over his body. He gasped before taking a step forward almost losing his balance. "Shit." He hissed. The little bumps that were forming, retracted. His body also reacted to the scar. His body was shaking and almost falling apart.
He took a deep breath. Again his body was fine.
"Am I going to have to take that pig's life in order to have at least a week's worth of fuel." Nightmare groaned. I don't wanna get messy. Nightmare shrugged it off and walked off to the nearest cave. He'll find something to feed off once he's in camp.
He walked along the snow. Nothing but a white blanket. He ended up seeing a figure up ahead. Wearing a cloak around himself. "Oh Ash, so nice to see you again." Nightmare said with a smug smile.
Ash rolled his eyes. He had quickly grown annoyed with him. "Nathaniel." Ash jerked slightly, the small bag he had rattled with what sounded like metal. Nathaniel whistled.
"Seems like you came back, er, with a lot to give." He said in a mocking tone. Ash was probably the easiest person to piss off. If Nathaniel ever needed anything just a few words from him to Ash was enough. Though it was definitely helping that Ash didn't already like him. It was like the cherry on top.
"Yeah..." He said with another eye roll. "Seems like you came back with a whole jackpot." He said as he quickened his pace. Nathaniel clicked his tongue as he followed him into the cave.
"Well I'll be taking my leave soon. I have to meet up with Alice." He mocked.
Ash stopped for a moment before looking back at him. "What for?" Nathaniel simply shrugged.
"Nothing you have to worry about." He said with a snarky remark. Nathaniel picked up his pace, wanting to leave the other man behind. "If you want I'll put a good word for you. Maybe then she'll wanna have a chat with you." He said glimpsing back at the man. He gave a small smirk. He could feel the frustration seeping through the man's stone cold face. Nathaniel looked at his hand he could feel the form stiffing up. He should be good for a bit. Thanks for the fuel, dimwit.
Nathaniel walked through the wet and dark cavern. Soon enough he reached the wall that met with the moon pool. As they call it. He gave 3 knocks on the cold wall as a knock was heard back. He took a step back. as the wall slightly moved. A small crack was letting the light out. A hand appeared out. Nathaniel hand the bag over. The wall again closed. He patiently waited for it to open again.
The stone walls creaked open.
He took a step forward and walked in. The woman at the door hand him the bag. "I think Alice will be quite happy with what you brought back." Nathaniel smiled.
"I sure hope so!" He said taking the bag. "Well I'll be on my way." he said kindly.
He quickly dismissed himself from the small conversation and continued onto the tunnels of the cavern. Noting that he was alone in the dark, he took another step forward before transforming himself into a puddle. The creature slithered through the darkness with the bag being engulfed in the darkness with him. Avoiding the traffic and the people. He reformed himself by the door of the office. The bag of goods by his feet. He bent down and grabbed it. He gave a light knock on the door before opening it. Upon peering into the room he could see the leader organizing some more gems. He smiled softly before saying something. "I brought a few more with me, hope that's no trouble." She looked up to him before standing.
"Oh, Nathaniel!" She looked up from her work. "You did bring a whole jackpot with you huh?" She said taking the bag. She grabbed it from him and headed back to her desk. "Pfft, what kinda idiot was walking with these beauties."
"A merchant, some man doing some trade."
She hummed quietly. She sighed and looked up to him with a smile. "Alright." She started. She leaned back. The wooden chair hugging her shoulders. "Look. You have been doing well these past few months. I must congratulate you." She said in a happy tone. "And I feel like our trust has flourished and grown. Along with everyone else here." She sighed. She leaned forward and held her hands. "I have a heist. A very important one." She pushed back and opened a drawer from her desk. She took a map and laid it out on the wooden table. "The castle is our next target."
