Why did Jacob go through 6 PA's so quickly I wondered? Was was so different about me?

I was leaving my new apartment Jacob had found for me. It was of course in a building he owned so I didn't have to pay much for it.

I was on my way to the office, I had worked for Jacob for about two weeks now, He was surprisingly easy to work with.

"Hey Mads, Mr. Black wants you in his office right now." Tori said as I walked into the building.

"Hey Tori, I will go see him now." I answered.

I walked toward the elevator and hopped on. After a brief ride I reached the top floor where Jacob's office was.

I knocked gently. "Come in." Jacob said.

"Oh good Maddie you're here." He said looking a little paranoid.

"Hi. Is there something you wanted?" I asked.

"Yes, I am not very happy with your version of taking notes." He stated. "I don't understand your process and I don't like how unorganized they are."

"Um, I am sorry, I can go organize them if you'd like." I said.

"No need, but please make my notes neat and doodle free please." He stated.

"Why did you go through so many PA's so quickly?" I blurted out. Before covering for myself. "Never mind you don't have to answer that, I shouldn't have said that."

"You're right Maddie, you shouldn't have." He replied.

With that I started to turn around to leave.

"I didn't excuse you Ms. Mitchells." He said with a smirk.

"Sorry sir." I answered.

"The reason I've gone through so many PA's is because they throw themselves at me, constantly flirt with me and dress like strippers." He commented. "I want my PA to act professional while I am with them. Maddie you are the best PA I have ever had, I lie your hard work ethic and your attitude. Honestly, I genuinely like you as a person too. Which my other PA's I only put up with them because I had no other option."

"O-oh, Thank you sir." I said.

"You can go now Maddie." He said.

"Yes, goodbye, please call me if you need something else." I said.

"I will thank you Maddie."

After leaving Jacobs office I felt like I had some job security which is more than enough to put a smile on my face during times like these.

My parents were still missing and Jacob had asked his PI to investigate in Florida to try and figure out what happened. So far the police has ruled it as they just decided to up and leave sort of case.

I know my family better than that to know that they would tell me where I was going.

It had been a quiet morning and I decided to bring Jacob lunch around noon.

I knocked before he permitted me to enter.

"I brought some food for you Jacob." I said.

"Thank you Maddie, I am starving.

I had brought up some sub sandwiches I had Tori order. I set them on the table and turned to leave.

"Care to eat with me Maddie?" He asked.

"Um. I don't want to intrude." I stated.

"Nonsense, have a seat." He said gesturing for me to sit down.

"So tell me a little more about yourself." He asked.

"Well, I grew up in a small house with my parents and brother in Florida. I was adopted when I was 4, I was taken from my birth parents because they used drugs and alcohol and couldn't care for me properly. I only remember that vaguely though.

While I was in high school I played sports. I was the captain of the softball team and captain of the wrestling cheer squad both my junior and senior years. I had good grades and stayed out of trouble."

"Oh, wow! I didn't know you were adopted." He said kindly.

"It's okay, I've always known and I knew my adopted parents loved me whether I was their own or not." I stated shrugging.

"So then how did you meet Lucy?" He asked.

"Well meeting Lucy is actually a funny story. The first time I met Lucy was in Kindergarten. But we never talked. I was too shy to talk to anyone and everyone basically stayed away from me because they knew I was adopted. Lucy moved 2 towns over in 4th grade so she went to school their until she graduated. I truly met Lucy though our Freshman year of college, we were roommates and I found what a great friend she could be. She even told me she wanted to be friends in elementary school but she was to shy to talk to me back then." I answered.

"That's actually really interesting." He replied.

"Yeah, I have a lot of baggage and I've been through lot." I said.

"I understand." He said.

We continued our meal and talked briefly a little more about ourselves, nothing too deep.

After we ate I finished up some paperwork and arranged various business meetings and lunches for Jacob, then I went home.

Jacob actually surprised me today with his interest in my life. I wonder what suddenly intrigued him?

A/N: I'm back! I've decided to try and finish this book because I feel like I owe it to you. Idk, It's just really hard to write this story lol XD
