Chapter 3: Behind Closed Doors

You see what that was? That was magical. But I promised that it wasn't as perfect as it seems. Little did I know what other conversations were taking place behind closed doors...

Marcus' Piont of View:

"Oh Marcus, you don't even have to try, " she stated, wrapping her arms around my waist for yet another sweet embrace. The girl in my arms was none other than y/n l/n, the Mission Creek High student who had just set my entire mission of course. And to be completely honest, I wasn't that angry about it.

The only reason I'm starting my Sophmore Year in this prison-like education system is so I can get close to Adam, Bree, and Chase Davenport. You see, my father is Douglas Davenport, the brother of Donald Davenport, and the actual biological father of the three bionic teens. Shortly after Chase completed growing in a test tube, my father was kicked out of Donald's company, and the three kids were stolen from him. But little did Donald know what he was leaving behind.

It was me.

My father had been working on a brand new bionic superman, one with all of the original three's abilities. And so when I came out of the test tube, I began training for the mission that would reunite my family.

You see, my father had plans for me, but he knows I can't complete them alone. A team would be much more efficient. And so he sent me to Mission Creek High to get to know Adam, Bree, and Chase, just so that we can lure them to our side.

Well, it's actually his side. I don't particularly care about all the illegal ideas my father has brewed up. In fact, I think what the bionic teens are doing is actually pretty cool. Mr. Davenport was right to take them away.

But please don't tell my father I said that. I've had to spend my entire life going along with everything he said, and doing every evil deed he requested. From robbing banks to getting even with rotten scoundrols, I've done things I'm not fond of.

My mission was simple. Besides getting Leo out of the way, it was supposed to be a piece of cake. But then this cute little thing showed up on the first day of school.

The first time I saw her, I knew y/n was different. From her awkwardness to her cute little laugh, she is absolutely adorable. I know I'm not supposed to stray from my mission, but who says supervillains can't have a social life?

I looked down at the cute little beauty in my arms, and realized that it was getting late. Plus, I should probably let go before I get too attached.

"I should probably head out, sweetie, " I started, adding the nickname at the end to keep her happy. "I don't want to worry my Dad."

She nodded her head, clearly understanding. "Alright, see you tomorrow!" I smiled, returned the gesture, and walked out of the building to meet my father.

I'm really starting to catch feelings for this girl, and I'm not sure if that will work out for her. I know she's involved with the Davenport's, but if I can just find away to get her away from Douglas when it's time, maybe I can protect her from his wrath.

Let's just say it wasn't as easy as he thought.

Since I am able to use super speed, I got home relatively quickly. When I arrived, the house appeared empty, but I knew my father was here somewhere. And then his location came to me.

I went outside of my house to the back yard and located the grill. When I opened it, a retna scan takes place, and once it recognizes me, a keypad appears. I type in the code "4-0-6-5," press enter, and a revolving wall appears.

Inside the wall lies the biggest secret I'm required to keep: the location of my father's secret lab. He doesn't have merely as much funding as Donald Davenport, but hey, it still get's the job done. Scattered throughout the room are weapons, my capsule, and my father sitting at his desk.

"Hello, father, " I state as I walk towards his coordinates. My voice clearly caught him off guard, as once I spoke, he almost jumped out of his chair. But once he realized it was just me, he relaxed.

"How was school? Any advancements on the targets?" He asked, cutting right to the chase. I wasn't suprised, though. A return of my greeting was rare.

"Pretty well. We performed a concert as a band together. They are totally falling for it!" I stated, pretending to be estastic. As stated earlier, I have no desire to lure any of these teens. What there doing now is better than what Douglas wants them to do.

"That's great, " he responded, but I could tell there was something else he wanted to say. "Is there anything else you wanted to tell me?" As he said those words, he looked up from his desk filled with papers, and we made eye contact. His eyes were cold, evil, and lifeless.

"No, " I replied in the most convincing tone my vocal manipulation could come up with. Additionally, I raised my eyebrow. (Side note: I actually kinda like doing that. Maybe I'll do it more often).

"Oh really?" He started, chuckling as he rose from his seat. He approached another table with even more papers covering it, and picked up a picture. "What about this?"

I took the picture from his hands, and examined it. It was a screenshot of the moment I looked down when y/n was in my arms. She was nussled against my chest, and I had my arms wrapped all around her waist. But the strangest part was that picture looked like it was taken from my position.

"How did you get this, " I asked, not needing my vocal manipulation to make me serious. He chuckled once more, but this time in a more manical way.

"When I created your chip I installed a camera. I can see whatever your seeing and take pictures of it whenever I want to. I was curious as to why you weren't home as soon as the performance was over, so I hopped on and saw this. There's about 3 dozen more in this folder," he said, holding a Manila folder in his hands. "You two were hugging for a long time. It almost seemed more than friendly."

I signed, looking defeated. I had one true job, and it was to protect y/n. And I had failed within moments of starting. "I'm sorry father. She's a friend of the Davenport's, and we meet when I was befriending them. Just please don't hurt her."

He chuckled again. "Oh silly Marcus, I'm not angry! I'm proud of you! Now capturing them will be even easier."

I raised my eyebrow again, confused and caught off guard. "What do you mean?"

He looked at me, as if he expected me to not need an explanation. "We can use her as bait to reel them in. Donald and their little friend? They won't be able to resist!"

No, no, no, no, no! This can't be happening. I know I've only known y/n for a short amount of time, but I really care about her. I won't let Douglas just use and discard her.

"That's not happening, Dad, " I replied clearly taking my father aback.

"What do you mean 'not happening?'" He stated, becoming angry.

"I really care about her Dad, " I started passionately. "I asked her to hang out because I enjoy her company. I'm not going to let you just use her for you benefit. This is where a draw the line!"

After my response, Douglas surprisingly nodded, as if he understood and agreed with what I said. "Fine, " he started, raising his hands in the air. "But if you can't get this mission done within 4 months, than I'll decide her level of involvement."

I nodded. Anything was better than knowing for sure y/n would be part of this. Now all I had to do was complete the mission. Surely four months is plenty of time, right?

Oh Marcus, if only you knew it really wasn't.
