Are Frist Dates Suppose To Go Like This?*
It's the Monday after the Friday night incident and first period, Jason kept trying to talk to me but I wasn't in the mood, Derek watched on silently. We got into a fight over the weekend, he called me up trying to apologise for Friday but I told him not to talk to me unless he had made up his mind.
It was a bit rude but I couldn't spend my days playing games with him.
When the bell finally goes I quickly leave the classroom but Derek catches up to me. "Evangeline!" He calls after me but I walk away from him, rolling my eyes.
I turn to face him while still walking away from him as he speed walks around students. "What did I tell you? Don't talk to me until you've made your decision so, unless it's that, go away," I tell him, turning back around, fists clenching and unclenching at my side.
Before I get too far, Derek grabs my hand and turns me to face him, his eyes pleading. I almost break out in a smile as I look at him, I did miss the feeling of his hand in mine and just talking to him, I resist the urge though.
"Please give me a chance to get to know you again, better this time," he begs me, holding both my hands and slowly stroking them with his thumbs. "After that night, three years ago, I felt like we became strangers, please don't leave me again," he whispers the last part, his bottom lip wobbling slightly.
"Fine-" his face breaks out into a beaming smile- "last chance," I tell him, smiling as I point my finger in his face.
"Thank you," he mumbles, kissing me on the cheek then pulling me into a tight hug.
At first, I'm taken aback by his reaction but I slowly warm up to the hug and wrap my arms around his waist, burying my face in his chest, smiling widely. I hear and feel him chuckle at my reaction so I lightly hit him on the back but laugh as well.
"Lightwood!" A voice shouts at the end of the hallway, "what did I tell you?"
We pull away from each other and I turn to see a furious Liam shoving his way past the student in the hallway, they give him dirty looks but Liam doesn't seem to care as he's determined to get to us.
"Evangeline, back up!-" Liam shoves me out of the way as Derek backs away from him- "I'm going to show this asshole not mess with me again!" He shouts, pulling his fist back to punch Derek but I quickly stand between them, keeping Liam an arm's length away.
"Liam!" I yell in his face making him look at me. "Stop this," I say, purposely looking him in the eye. He can't just walk around punching people to get his way, especially when it comes to my life. He is not my father nor mother.
His eyes go purple then back to blue and he lowers his fist, backing away. "You can't do that to me," Liam mutters, his face still filled with rage, "why are you defending him? Even after what happened three years go?" He huffs, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Maybe, just maybe, I'm over it and don't blame them anymore. It was three years ago, get over it Liam," I tell him off, clenching my fists. The hallways have almost completely emptied now as the bell for next period is close to ringing.
"I have class," I mumble, waving goodbye to Derek who smiles, walking the opposite way.
I walked into my AP History class, a sour expression on my face. I sit at my desk that's next to Jason, I feel Kara rub my back from behind me and Jason telling me 'it's going to be okay', Mya tells them to shut up which makes Jason and Kara laugh.
Lunchtime eventually rolls around and everything has gone well in class so far and at break. I didn't run into Liam thankfully and I haven't seen Derek so far, which is probably for the best.
Jason, Damon and I all make our way out of English class towards the cafeteria laughing about our teacher. "And her face, priceless," Damon laughs, wiping a tear away.
"You really pissed her off," I chuckle as we walk into the cafeteria. Our fun conversation is interrupted by the yelling of my brother. Oh for fuc-
I look over and Liam has Derek pinned against the wall, yelling at him. "Stay the Hell away from my sister you traitor!" He yells. I run over to them, shoving past the crowd that had formed to get to them.
"Liam!" I yell, Liam snaps his head over to me and his face quickly flushes with the embarrassment of being caught. "Stop this," I tell him, placing my hand on his shoulder hoping to calm him.
I can feel the static in the air around him and I worry about Dereks' safety, he looks unfazed though. Liam turns his head back to face Derek, "he could hurt you," he says lowly, still holding Derek against the wall.
"You and I both know I've been through worse," I say, keeping my voice steady and calm. "Or is your pride worth more than my happiness?"
Liam's stance changes suddenly and he seems to relax, he slowly lets Derek's shirt go and backs away from him, looking at the floor. He turns to look at me, disappointment clear in his eyes as the crowd disperses. Liam goes to say something but doesn't and storms off instead, I watch him leave and sign heavily as the cafeteria doors are slammed.
It's only the first day back of the second week and now this bullshi-
Derek grabs my hand and I slowly turn to face him, he gives me a sympathetic look as he brushes a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. He smiles tightly and pulls me into a tight hug which I gladly embrace, letting a small tear run down my cheek.

By Wednesday, everything seemed to return to as normal as it could be. Kara and I talked about her break up and got to know a bit more about Mya, turns out she's bisexual but is only out to her friends because she fears that her parents wouldn't accept her.
Damon, Derek and Jason were still ruling over the school as their core three, it was weird to think that just because I became friends with them that a lot more people started to notice me in the hallway. Random people would smile at me and I would awkwardly smile back, unsure how to react.
As for Derek, he's been good. It's only been two days but he's started talking to me a lot more and started showing me extra attention. I think it made a few girls at school jealous but Derek didn't take any notice. He started asking how I've been, if my favourite colour has changed (which it hasn't, still purple), just small things.
We've also been calling each other a lot, talking on the phone about random things. A lot of the time he's asking me about school work but I find it cute because he complains in such a sweet way all the time, to convince him to do some work I tell him that I'll give him a small kiss on the cheek, it works every time.
"So," Derek says, walking by my side as we head in the same direction to third period. "How does a date sound?" He asks, holding my hand and Jason appears on my other side, we have science together.
"Really?" I ask in disbelief, "after what happened Monday, you want to go on a date?" The man has a serious deathwish I tell you.
"Yeah, why not?" He shrugs as we stop at the science classroom door. Jason walks into the classroom without me as Derek and I stand in an almost empty hallway.
"Evangeline, I would take a thousand beatings from your brother just to even have a chance of you looking at me," he says, taking my hand in his. I smile as my face heats up, getting all giddy.
"Tonight, I'll be at the neighbourhood's gate at eight," he smiles, kissing my forehead before running off down the hill.
I walk into class smiling like an idiot as I sit next to Jason. "Someone's happy," he muses, elbowing me in the side, "got a date?" He asks, I smile and nod.
"It's about time he finally asks you, never shuts up about it," Jason chuckles and I roll my eyes, still smiling as the lesson begins

When the bell rings for lunch Jason, Damon and I all meet Kara and Mya at our lunch table in the cafeteria, I frown however because Derek isn't sitting there waiting for me as he should be like he has this past couple of days.
"What's wrong Evangeline?" Damon asks as we all sit down for lunch.
"I know," Jason smiles, "no lover boy." I roll my eyes at him and punch him softly, he pretends to be hurt and makes me kiss is 'injury' better.
"Where is he though?" Kara asks from across the table as I pull out my water bottle.
"Went back to the packhouse, they have an important visitor today that he needs to be there for," Jason rolls his eyes, "I'm so glad I'm not ever going to be alpha, too much work."
Everyone on the table laughs, including Damon, which surprises me. I look at Damon confused and he asks me what's wrong this time. "You know?"
"Of course I know," he chuckles, "wouldn't be able to hang out with these losers if I didn't," he looks at Jason, punching him in the arm. Jason scoffs at him laughing about how 'weak' Damon is when in reality Jason is just super strong.
Everyone keeps talking for the remainder of lunch as I quietly drink the blood in my water bottle, soon I get this dull ache in my forehead that slowly gets worse. Kara notices my discomfort as asks what's wrong but I can barely form words from the amount of pain I'm in.
"Nurses office," Mya says as Jason and Damon come to my sides.
They both help me up as I begin to feel dizzy, I almost fall forwards but catch myself on the table as imagines flash in my mind. Death. Destruction. Murder. Supernaturals being killed by some man and women in masks. Her eyes, an unnatural yellow, almost sick looking and his eyes, a deep forest green.
I see a group of men and women all standing on a field, weapons ready, a man in front of them, a leader. He smiles evilly but before I get a look at his face the imagines are gone and I'm left with a migraine. Being part Banshee downside I got number two.
"Evangeline?" Damon says my name as his hand rests on my shoulder, "are you okay?"
"Kara, what happened?" Jason asks as I stand up straight, clutching my head.
Kara sighs to herself, she knows exactly what happened and she never likes it. "A banshee is a wailing woman that predicts death. Sometimes, very rarely, Eve sees death and she can feel it all, it usually is followed by a painful migraine for a few hours that would be deadly to humans," she explains as Jason holds my arm to keep me from falling.
I don't know how they react to the information because I can open my eyes, the light is way too bright for me to handle right now. The boys walk me to the nurse's office and she lets me lie down in a dark room, she knows what's wrong because she is also supernatural, she's a healing witch, she can't heal this headache though.
A few minutes later I hear noise coming from outside my room then a moment later Derek walks in, his face filled with panic and worry. "Evangeline, what happened?" he asks, kneeling by my side.
"A migraine, of the supernatural kind," the nurse, Hannah, explains.
Derek lightly sighs as Hannah closes the door to my room. Derek takes my hand, the sparks come again but the pain also subsidises as he does so. "Are you still up for our date tonight?" He asks, rubbing circles on my hand which dulls the pain even more.
"Even if I wasn't, I wouldn't miss our date if the world was ending," I say in a small voice with a weak smile. Derek chuckles at my comment and shakes his head.
"Get some rest darling," he tells me, placing a soft kiss on my forehead which helps make the pain bearable.
"I should probably go home to do that," I say, sitting up slowly. Derek places a hand on my back to steady me and asks me if I'm sure, I nod and he helps me to my feet.
Derek calls my dad for me and tells him he needs to pick me up, dad was a little uneasy about hearing and seeing me with Derek but eventually saw how much he cared about me. Derek also comes home with me and carries me upstairs to my room so I can rest.
He pulls my curtains for me and tucks me in once I get into some pyjamas. He tells dad that he'll be back at eight to pick me up for our dad, dad is a little hesitant at first but says it's okay.

It's around six-thirty when I finally wake up, I make my way downstairs to grab a quick snack. I pour some animal blood into a cup and text Kara that I will call her after my shower, I make my way back upstairs and grab a towel from the linen closet at the end of the hallway.
After my shower, I give Kara a call and she starts squealing like crazy telling me how excited she is for me. We begin talking as I sit at my vanity to do my makeup. I keep it decently light, concealer under the eyes and on any acne, a natural eye look with a light glitter on my eyelid and on the inner corner, my eyebrows of course, and curling my lashes then applying a light coat of mascara.
Kara directs me that I need to wear something flashy for the date but I tell her that Derek texted me to keep it simple cause we aren't doing anything crazy. Walking into my wardrobe I grab my favourite black pair of jeans, a white shirt with a rose embodied on the left corner, a pair of black LV desert boots.
Kara rolls her eyes at my selection but tells me I have to have at least some fancy jewellery on or a fancy jacket. I find my crochet flower black LV varsity jacket and my silver LV locket necklace, this seems to satisfy Kara enough but she still thinks I should have done more.
By the time I completely finished getting ready it's seven-fifty. I say goodbye to Kara and quickly grab a red and white side bag, shoving my phone, some lip balm and a gift for Derek inside it. I walk out of my room just as dad comes out of his office.
"You look nice Evangeline," he compliments me and I smile at him, "go have fun."
I tell him goodbye and run downstairs, just as I'm almost out the door Liam calls my name from the top of the stairs, so close. I turn around and face him, a smile on my face, "where are you going?" He asks, arms crossed.
I smile sheepishly and quickly think of a lie, "Kara's."
Before Liam has a chance to say anything more, I slam the door and run off our property. I run down the road that leads to the neighbourhood gate and I see Derek standing there, a smile on his face.
"You look lovely," he says as I walk out of the gate, he takes my hand in his and smiles, "ready?"
I nod my head as we begin walking to wherever Derek has decided to take me. Derek has dressed a bit more formal this time, he is wearing a white long sleeve dress shirt, rolled up to his elbows, some black jeans that are cuffed to show off his purple socks, and a black pair of vans.
I notice the route we are taking is taking us towards the clearing and I look up at Derek with a confused smile. "Don't worry, I don't plan to murder you," he chuckles, "I thought you might want something peaceful and private."
I shoot him a playful glare and he laughs at me. "I didn't mean that way," he says "unless?" He jokes and I playful whack him on the arm, making him laugh harder at me as we get to the unmarked pathway.
As we walk down the pathway, Derek keeps asking me random questions like 'what do you do a night, because like, you don't sleep?' or 'what is irritating you right now?' which I told him, 'you.'
When we get to the clearing I begin running around the field at a normal pace as Derek stands at the trees watching me with an amused expression. I laugh at him and begin running at super-speed level exploring the entire area around us. Eventually, I slow down and join Derek who is standing close to where the bonfire was from the party.
"You done?" He questions and I nod, he smiles at me and pats my head lightly and I giggle, slapping his hand away.
Without warning, I push myself into his arms and hug him tightly, Derek seems taken aback but eventually tightly wraps his arms around me too. We stand there for a few minutes as I listen to his heartbeat, embracing his comfort as little sparks keep pricking my skin. Derek starts stroking my hair lightly, kissing the top of my head.
"God, you have no idea how much I missed you," he mumbles. We pull away as I look up at him smiling.
"I missed you too," I say, placing a hand on his cheek. I pull his face down to mine and place a soft kiss on the tip of his nose which makes him squirm and giggle, he used to hate when I did that.
I chuckle as Derek backs away from me trying to prevent me from doing it again, he crosses his arms and glares at me like a little kid who just got in trouble. I frown sarcastically and pretend to wipe a tear away as he sticks his tongue out at me.
A smile breaks out across his face and in an instant, Derek runs at me, I try to back away but he's already picked me up and started spinning me around as we both laugh like crazy. I manage to wiggle out of his grip and fly away from him, landing on the ground a couple of meters away.
Soon he begins chasing me as I run away from him, our laugher filling the air. Eventually, he chases me onto the dock that's over the lake. "Derek," I say, raising my hands in front of me as I stand at the end of the dock and him in front of me, "mercy?"
"You didn't have mercy on me when you kissed my nose, did you?" He smiles evilly, walking closer, I laugh nervously at his comment and back up as far as I can go without falling off the edge.
Derek runs at me and I squeal as he lifts me off the ground slightly in a tight hug. "Derek!" I squeal as he refuses to put me down, "put me down!"
He shakes his head but does put me down in the end, after the game of cat and mouse we are both worn out so we take a seat at the end of the dock. I lean my head on his shoulder, Derek leans his head on mine as we watch the water in the lake.
I suddenly remember I have the gift in my bag for Derek, quickly sitting up Derek gives me a questioning look as I grab his gift. I pull out the exact same necklace to the one I'm wearing and Derek smiles at me but confusion is written all over his face.
"I wanted to give this to you, so we have the same necklace," I tell him, putting it in his hand, he looks at it then back at me, "it has my full initials on the back in a heart."
"How did you get this made in time?" He asks, slowly putting it on himself.
"Well it was originally made for me but I didn't like the idea of wearing my initials, a year later I got the same necklace without the engraving-" I hold my necklace that I'm wearing- "but I thought you might want it."
Derek smiles widely, taking my face in his hands. "I love it," he whispers. He pulls me into a soft kiss and I can't help but smile against his lips as the sparks bounce between us. I pull him closer by his shirt as we continue to kiss each other, savouring the moment.
At that moment, everything was peaceful.
