Chapter 1

Cassandra waited in the classroom for the bell to ring. She absolutely hated Business and Computer Science because she was the only one in her group of friends (Sammy and John) that were in said class, and she was the only one that knew what she was doing. When the bell did ring, she was first out of the classroom. She met up with her friends at John's locker, which Sammy slammed shut the first chance she got to annoy him.
"Sammy!!" John yelled when the locker slammed. He pushed her gently as to not hurt her but to set her off balance and she laughed a little. Cass watched at John reopened his locker and began placing books in it.
"What do we do in BCS, Cass?" He asked, grabbing his Science notebook.
"Coding. The usual," she replied. "I can't wait for this day to be over..." She muttered, looking at her watch again.
"Well, at least it's Friday," Sammy said. Cass sighed.
"Yeah I guess. Come on, we're going to be late for Science and I still have to write the answers on my hand- I mean what?" Cass admitted to wanting to cheat but sarcastically played it off.
"Hey, you can't cheat! Sammy is the one that sits next to you! You would have to lip sync it to me or something!" John scolded playfully.
"Whatever John," Cass rolled her eyes at her friend. "Sammy, what do we do in ELA?"
"Don Quixote," she answered. Cass groaned. She hated that book.
"I don't even have my book yet," John chuckled. "Masters hasn't taken me to Barnes and Nobles." Masters was their orphanage teacher.
They sat down in Science and studied for a bit. Most of it was cracking jokes or John being cringey, but they got the basic materials they needed into their skulls.
During the test, Cass saw John mouth "number 6?"
Cass looked at her paper and saw that she hadn't answered the question yet. She nudged Sammy and nodded to John, who mouthed it again. Sammy mouthed, "C".
Cass looked at her paper and saw that C was correct, causing her to circle it. She finished the test and turned it in before grabbing John's Assassin's Creed book to read. John finished before Sammy and finally Sammy turned in her test just before the bell rang.
After 7th period, they met up at Sammy's locker for a bit. Sammy shoved her things into the locker and grabbed her homework books before starting the short walk to homeroom.
After they were dismissed, Cass, John, and Sammy immediately started to walk down the street to get to the orphanage.
"That Science test was easy," Cass chuckled.
John shrugged. "Numbers 6 and 23 were confusing."
"Not really. Then again, cell organelles were the only thing I actually understood," Sammy replied. Cass nodded in agreement. "Too bad we aren't adopted yet."
"Why do you always bring that up?" Cass questioned.
"Because I want to be adopted so bad. And having superpowers is really hard," she whined.
John rolled his eyes. "We all have superpowers Sammy."
"Shut up! Masters might catch us!" Cass hissed as they entered the orphanage. They went up to Sammy and Cass' room to study for a bit.
During the study session, some 10 year old named Jake opened the door and shouted "SOMEONE'S HERE TO ADOPT!". Cass, Sammy and John all ran as fast as they could down the stairs. They hadn't had a foster parent come in what felt like years.
They all sat down on the ground in the living room, for the couches were full with little ones. Sammy, Cass and John stood, only because there wasn't enough room on the floor.
"If one of us gets adopted we get adopted. No holding back for each other," John said. He would hate to have one of his friends go, but they deserved a home more than he did.
"We're not going to leave you John. We'll convince them to adopt us all," Cass said. Sammy nodded in agreement.
"Attention!!" Miss Masters yelled. They chatter stopped and all eyes looked up. They saw a man with blond hair and blue eyes along with a girl with red hair and green eyes. Cass shivered a little when the girl made eye contact with her. "This is Mr. Steve Rogers and Ms. Natasha Romanoff-"
"That's Black Widow and Captain America!" John whispered to Cass and Sammy. "I saw them on the news when we were locked at school because of an attack!"
"Really??" Sammy whispered back, careful to not get caught. "Oh, please let us get adopted! That would be so fun!"
"Shh, Masters is coming," Cass said. Masters always led the foster parents around the room, introducing them to all the children.
"And this is Cassandra Bark, John Harp, and Sammy Rect," Miss Masters stated. Natasha whispered something into Steve's ear and he nodded.
"We'll adopt."
All the little ones cheered and a couple of the big ones silently hoped it would be them. Others, like Rachel, who was 16, had no hope left and was simply waiting to be released.
Sammy crossed her fingers.
"Cassandra, Sammy and John."
John's face broke into the biggest grin they have ever seen while the two girls hugged each other, unable to believe their luck. They both hugged John in the madness before calming down.
"Cass, Sammy, John, go gather your things. You have 10 minutes," The three were up the stairs before Miss Masters could finish speaking.
~~
"We're being adopted!! Together!!!" Cass yelled. Sammy was still in shock so she hadn't said anything yet. "Sammy? You good?"
"I can't believe it. I would've never believed it possible," she said softly. Cass tossed her a pair of jeans that she missed when grabbing her clothes from the closet.
"Well believe it! We're getting a home! Come on, let's go get John and head out," Cass pulled her final bit of belongings into her duffle and grabbed her schoolbag before heading out the door and to John's room.
~~
Steve chuckled when the three teenagers he called on jumped for joy. John's face lit up with excitement while Cassandra and Sammy hugged. Soft groans of disappointment were heard from the other children, but a couple of them cheered. Apparently, these three deserved to be adopted. The girls hugged John before finally calming down. They were sent to pack by Masters and the others were dismissed.
"Are you sure they have..." I trailed off and cleared my throat, for a couple kids stayed in the living room to do homework.
"They have the signs. The small scars in the shape of broken hearts on their necks," Natasha said. "We finally found them. How long did it take?"
"3 months," Steve answered. "I still can't believe we're adopting. It's kinda shocking that Tony would let us."
"It wasn't his choice, it was Fury's. It was an order," Natasha replied. "Anyway, we need to call the team and let them know we found them-"
"Mr. Wogers..." Steve turned and saw a little 5 year old boy.
"Yes?" he asked softly, kneeling down to the child's height.
"Will you sign dis?" He asked, holding out a Captain America drawing. Steve chuckled and grabbed the pen.
"If course I will," he replied, signing his name quickly. The boy grinned.
"Thank you so much!" he said before running away. Steve enjoyed making young children like that boy so happy with something so simple as a signature.
"See, you're already good with kids," Natasha teased as the teenagers ran down the stairs, holding duffle bags and school bags. Steve took Cassandra and Sammy's school bag while Natasha went to take John's. He refused to give it to her, saying that it wasn't the gentlemanly thing to do. Nat chuckled and opened the door for all of them.
They finally got into the car and started for Stark Tower.

Another adoption story I know but these are fun to write. This is the last one I hope. Anyway, I'll update by Sunday hopefully.
