thanks cee, but the whole record is so different from one direction. i'm just so nervous, none of it is like anything we did in the band. i'm not used to being so vulnerable in music, especially now that i'm the only one carrying the songs.

look, i understand why you're stressing about it, and your nerves are one hundred percent justified, believe me. but i'm telling you, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. what are you so scared of?

the whole idea of my debut as a solo artist. will people like the record? what will they say about it? how will they react now that i'm releasing my first album since the band? how do i make people like my music? i mean, what if i'm not good enough, clara?

harry, please don't think that you're not good enough. you are genuinely the most capable person i know, and if anyone can handle this, it is you, one million percent.

if people don't like it, and unfortunately there will be people that won't like it, that's their problem, and you don't have to prove, to anyone, that your work is amazing and worthy of success.

your fans that have followed you from the band haven't given up on you, and i guarantee you, you'll generate a new audience from this album. h, a lot of people will love your music.

even if you don't get the response you want, at least you put something that's wholly yours out there and tried. you should be incredibly proud of yourself harry, because a lot of people are, including me.

"Where are you going so late?" Dylan furrowed his eyebrows at his girlfriend as Clara slung her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her car keys from the side table, about to head out.

Clara turned to face Dylan at the words, and replied with a small smile. "Just to the studio. Harry wants to finish Ever Since New York as soon as possible, because his album is releasing on Friday."

Dylan's exterior faltered in his seat, and his shoulders slightly slumped as he averted his eyes away from Clara. He should've guessed it was Harry related. "Oh."

Noticing his obvious change in demeanour, Clara frowned, approaching him as she sat on the couch beside him, her hand reaching over to gently rest on his forearm. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." Dylan just shook his head, shifting in his seat uncomfortably and moving his arm away from Clara's grip.

Feeling a little annoyed by his dismissive actions that seemed to arise more frequently now, Clara crossed her arms over her chest and spoke more directly, her eyes focused on his face. "Dylan, what's the issue now?"

"Nothing, Clara!" Dylan suddenly exclaimed, causing Clara to flinch back in surprise at the sudden change of tone.

Immediately realising that he shouldn't have unjustly raised his voice, Dylan released a sigh, meeting Clara's eyes as he apologised. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you, that was my bad. Nothing's wrong, I'm fine."

Clara's eyes flickered between his, and she knew he was concerned about Harry—he seemed to be concerned about their friendship quite often, at this point. "Is this about Harry? I don't know how many times I have to tell you that we're just friends Dyl, and I really don't get how many times we have to fight about the same thing for you to realise that I am with you. You are who I choose."

"Am I, though?" Dylan furrowed his eyebrows as he immediately snapped. "Because it didn't look that way on your birthday, and it hasn't looked that way for a while. I mean, come on, Clara. It's blatantly obvious that there's something going on, and I've been so fucking stupid, because I hadn't seen it earlier!"

Clara was taken aback. Sure, she liked Harry, but she knew that they could only be friends. She was with Dylan, and she was happy.

She was fine with just being friends with Harry—she had been friends with him since 2014, and she was still just friends with him. That's all it was, and that was all it could be.

She was happy with Dylan.

Clara just shook her head at Dylan, honestly answering him as her tone was sharp. "There is nothing going on, and if you don't trust me, then I really don't know what to tell you."

Huffing out an exasperated breath in disbelief, Dylan just shook his head and glanced away, not understanding why Clara was still in denial of her own feelings.

Standing up, Clara just furrowed her eyebrows, glancing between the ground and Dylan as she spoke up again. "So, what happens now?"

Dylan released another sigh, this time, an undertone of sadness lacing each word. "Uh, I don't know. I just need some time to think, okay?"

Clara swallowed again, blinking a little to push back some tears that were threatening to sting the corners of her eyes, her eyebrows furrowing as she cleared her throat and glanced away. "Okay. If that's what you need..."

With that, Clara just walked towards the front door, leaving her house—that Dylan had moved into a few weeks ago—making her way to her car and trying to forget the conversation as she focused on Ever Since New York.

claraknight please do yourself a favour and listen to harry's debut album, you won't regret it! h put such an incredible amount of time and dedication into it, and he deserves the most recognition and praise for the immense effort and heart he poured into every single track.

making ever since new york with my best friend was genuinely the most enjoyable experience i've ever had, and h and i are both thrilled for you to hear it. it's yours as much as it is ours.

i could not have imagined doing my first collaboration as a musician with anyone else, and harry and his team are truly the most incredible, talented, and kind-hearted people i know. let us know what you think of the song, and again, please give harry's debut album a listen, you won't regret it ❤️
