49 || YOU LITTLE MISTRESS
I felt light touches on my face making me stir and the touches to stop but when I go back to sleep, they resume making me wake up this time to see Harry laying down, looking at me while taking his hand back.
"What are you doing?" I question, looking back at him.
"You had an eyelash on your cheek." He says after a while before sitting up. "What do you want to do today?" He asks while stretching.
I sit up and rub my eyes. "Um, I don't know?" I say. "I think we should start planning out what we're doing for Christmas."
"That sounds like a good idea." He nods. "Hey, why don't we have it at my house? All my things should be there by now just in time to have a party." He suggests.
"Are you sure? It's supposed to be something small you know? Just with us." He waves me off.
"It'll be fine. I have to go and check up on the house today, care to join?"
"Can't, I've got work." I groan making him pout. "See you after to plan out the details?"
"I'll text you the location." He grins making me smile as we head downstairs to make breakfast. After breakfast that consisted in pancakes with eggshells in, Harry left to go run his errands while I left a few minutes after for work.
An hour in and Alice hasn't shown up, leaving the job all to myself and the new barista Amy who can't seem to get off her phone thinking I can't see her sneak it out whenever she gets a text.
The bell rings, signifying a new customer while I'm busy changing out the old coffee grounds that Amy was supposed to do. This girl is just not going to last another day here. "Kathrine?" I hear someone call my name making me turn to see a petite brunette stare at me with a pearly white grin.
"Um, yes?" I say unsure of how this woman knew my name.
She continues to grin at me before pointing to herself. "You don't remember me?" She says making me let out a nervous laugh while shaking my head. "It's me Destiny!"
Who?
"I'm sorry, I don't think I know you?" I say making her wave me off with a smile.
"Destiny Robinson, we went to elementary together." She explains making me stare back at her.
"You look fat in that dress, everyone says it looks better on me."
"Oh." I say, my mind dragging me out of my thoughts. That Destiny, the one that would bully me all the while dating Harry though he never knew because of how fake she was and how scared I was of her as a child.
Also, the one that told that one boy I liked to spill his juice on me because we were wearing the same dress to our elementary party in the gym, and had everyone agree with her that I looked fat and that it looked better on her.
"Oh my God, it's been so long!" She says, a little way too overexcited. "How have you been?" She asks making me rub the sweat off my palms.
To say that seeing a childhood bully after this long, after working out excessively after having the whole class call you fat as an eight year old, was unpleasant was an understatement.
"I've been good." I nod, stepping aside to allow Amy to take orders. "What about you? You look great." I say making her give a twirl.
"Thanks! So do you." She looks me up and down. "I've been working with some people, can't say who, to launch my clothing line. I've got a photoshoot today for the campaign." She gushes making me nod with a pursed smile. "But enough about me, how has life been treating you?" She looks around, clearing judging.
"Oh, quite swell." I lie. "I thought you had moved away after high school?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm back because my grandmother passed and my brother and I had to come back because of the will that she left us." She says. "I've heard about Harry, how has he been?"
Of course. "He's been great. Pretty busy." I say. I knew this encounter had something to do with him.
"So I've heard, you little mistress." She winks.
"What? No, it isn't like that." I stammer making her roll her eyes with a smirk. "It was a mistake."
"Trust me, Harry and I hooked up on the last day of high school. Going down that road is anything but a mistake." She says making me shudder. "Do you happen to have his number? I've been meaning to get in touch with him and catch up, maybe."
Oh how I pity him. I remember Harry was so in love with this girl in Elementary and wouldn't shut up our last day in high school about how Destiny wanted to hook up with him in the bathrooms.
Part of me still thinks that he's not completely over her.
"Well?" She says, taking me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, yes." Why did I do that. "Um, here." I'm an idiot. I grab a sticky note and a pen, writing down his number before handing it to her.
"Ugh, thanks." She smiles. "I knew I always liked you." She says before walking away.
—
I sigh, running my fingers through my hair as I pull up to the entrance where the location led me. It was a big house, though not nowhere near to the mansion I had imagined in my head.
Once I reach the front door, I ring the doorbell. The door is all glass so I am able to see inside. Definitely not good if he wants to have privacy. The door is soon being open by a woman making me step back.
Did I have the right house?
"Yes?" She asks.
"Um, I'm sorry is Harry -"
"You have two seconds to get off the property before the police is contacted."
"Linda, it's fine." I hear Harry's voice from inside making me look past her to see him wearing his clothes from this morning. "She's with me." Harry opens the door wide to let me in and when I do, the woman eyes me up and down.
"I'm the best friend." I say to her with a mocking grin making her scoff and walk away. "She seems cheery." I say to Harry making him chuckle.
"Don't mind her, we've been having fans show up all day." He says, leading us in a room where there was another woman with an earpiece and a clipboard.
I play with my pen in my journal. "What's going on?" I ask.
"Oh, that's Rebecca a party planner. She's going to be helping us with this Christmas party thing." He grins, taking me aback.
"Wait, I thought we were going to plan it." I say. "You and I."
"I mean, yeah but I figured we would need some help." He shrugs.
"Help with planning a party for five people?" I ask making him purse his lips. "What?" I cross my arms.
"Actually, it's going to be a bit more than five people." He says making me eyebrows furrow.
"We said it'd be small." I remind. "You know, with the family?"
"Well I kind of already invited everyone." He says making me let out a breath, annoyance mustering up inside me. "Here, let's sit. Tell me about your day." Harry says, sitting me down on the couch. "How was work?"
"Why are you changing the subject?" I say making him take in a breath.
"Well because I know you get moody when I don't comply with everything you say."
"You said you were done with parties, Harry." I tell him making him nod.
"Well, I wasn't single." He replies. "It'll be fun, I promise." He says, rubbing my shoulders with his hands in a massage. "Now, how was work?"
I sigh, relaxing I to his touch. "Interesting. People come in because they've seen me in magazines with you." I say making him hum. "Also one of your old flings came by today." I say making him stop.
"Old fling?" He questions making me nod. "Who?"
"Destiny Robinson." I say the name with a mock tone.
"Destiny Robinson? The one -"
"You got caught in the toilets with." I finish his sentence.
"Huh." He says with a smirk almost as if reminiscing it. "What'd she say?"
"Well she obviously didn't come in to buy coffee." I remark. "She asked for your number."
"Did you give it to her?" He asks almost immediately.
"Sound more excited, why don't you?"
"I'm sorry, but how can I not?" He says making me roll my eyes. "I lost my virginity to her and haven't forgotten about her since." He says making chills run down my spine.
"And I needed to know that, why?" I say.
"Do you think she'll want to come as my date?" He asks, running his fingers through his hair to set it back in place.
I roll my eyes, feeling that same jealousy I always feel whenever it involves him with other girls. "Need I remind, you just got out of an engagement." I point out. "She called me your mistress."
"She'll be my date to the party," he grins, ignoring what I had said. "Rebecca, please make sure you order the best wine." He says to the woman in the kitchen making her nod.
Harry wouldn't be so excited to hear Destiny wanted to get in touch with him if I had told him about what happened with her being my bully in elementary.
She had made me swear I wouldn't tell him about it because she liked him and knew we were close. If her and Harry start seeing each other again, I will lose my shit.
Not only was she my bully, but she also cheated on Harry with the guy I liked. This woman was the epitome of evil, and I don't want Harry tangled in her web.
I fear she'll be worse than Kendall.
