Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it comes back.

Your Old Life

Right when things are looking up, right when you are getting what you used to lack, your Old Life that you left behind, that life that left you behind.

All the sudden your Old Life decided

that it loves you, even if unrequited.

It tries to make you feel bad that you're not who you were by saying "HEY DUDE! Remember all the great times we had!"

No matter how much you've grown, or if your scars are shown, that Old Life comes back

calling you a sack

of shit

for leaving it behind

to grind

NO!

I'm not gonna feel bad

or sad

or mad

for changing my life!

I already have!

I'm not going back!

Back to the way I was

The person I used to be no longer exists in every way but memory

Some say "kill the past" sure, but don't bury it.

yeah, you need to let go

and grow

and move on with life

but if you bury your past how long can your good life last. Because even if you forget someone else remembers and brings up that shit

and then they're saying "BITCH! You remember how you where, how you acted, what you said , what you heard? Now you're saying that you're different. YOU can't change! I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

I didn't change man, I GREW!

Like a tree I shot up unable to go back to the way I was.

I was trapped in a world I hated and did all that I knew!

I'm done with my Old Life, my Old Self; I didn't bury it, I just put it on the shelf

As a reminder of what i used to be

That man I Hated

That man that just wanted to be free

Just Gotta remember that man used to be me!

but now I AM FREE

away from my old life and old strife

away from my hate

And now I can appreciate the life that I have and that I'm going to get. Leaving behind all that pain and regret. and now I can grow above the rest of the trees, being weighed down by that awful disease; regret, fear, and despair hold them down like a self-crafted snare.

so when your old life comes back, trying to change you back and drag you down saying "just cut me some slack"

just remember that you're someone new

you can't go back

because you didn't change
