Prologue
The whole manor was buzzing with excitement. The servants were all preparing for the return of their kind master the Baron and his new wife. But none more excited than the eight year-old Baroness.
"Oh Fluttershy! This is just like Hearts Warming!" the blue pegasus filly cried. "I am getting a mother and two sisters in one day! And fathers coming back!"
The young servant mare smiled as she gently brushed the filly's rainbow mane.
"Well, it's not just for you. The Baron has needed another mare in his life." She said softly. "Although he has you, he also needs some pony to take care of you."
Before the Fluttershy could finish brushing, the filly started bouncing around her room. Fluttershy's smile disappeared.
"Rainbow Dash, you have to hold still, your father will be back soon." She said standing up.
A pink pony with a curly mane burst into the room.
"Rainbow Dash! You sit down right now!"
But the young filly still flew around the room. She then paused and landed in front of a full length mirror.
"What if they don't like me?" she asked.
The pink mare went up to the foal.
"Of course they'll like you. Just as long as you are the good little angel I know is in there." She smiled.
"Thanks Pinkie."
The free then turned to the window when they heard a tapping against the window. Rainbow Dash walked over to look outside, she looked down with anger at the young, short, purple and green dragon throwing rocks at the window.
"Spike!" The pegasus yelled. "I told you not today!"
The dragon cringed.
"You look like a girl!" he called back.
Rainbow Dash looked down at her dress. It had a pale vest sewn together with green thread which matched her skirt and sleeves. Her mane was pulled back and plaited with a green ribbon tied into it. She to cringed, but she didn't want to disappoint her father.
"I am a girl you dim-wit!" she replied.
"Yeah but know you look like one!"
"Boy or girl! I can still beat you!"
"Yeah right!"
Rainbow's face turned red with anger as she burst out the room and out of the manor to prove the dragon wrong.
All the servants lined up near the wall. Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie joining them. A cheese coloured pony with a curly brown mane took three steps in front of the others. A black carriage appeared into view; pulled by two black stallions. As the carriage pulled up the head of a purple stallion with gold eyes and a rainbow mane poked out of the window. When the carriage stopped, the stallion pushed the door opened as he stepped out.
"Welcome back master." Said the cheese coloured stallion.
"Thank you Cheese Sandwich." He smiled. "Now where is my daughter?"
Just then, the filly ran towards her father, her dress and mane covered in mud.
"Daddy!" she yelled.
The stallion smiled as he picked his daughter up and lifted her high before placing her back on the ground.
"Hello miss. I was hoping to present a young mare." He chuckled. "I guess you will do. What have you been doing Dash? Playing with your friend?"
"I totally beat him!"
They both turned to find the purple and green dragon now completely covered in mud.
The two laughed at the sight.
A pink filly wearing a bright orange dress with yellow patterns, a diamond tiara upon her purple and white mane, walked out.
Another filly, this one grey with a plaited mane and blue glasses. Wore a dark green dress with a gold rope died around her waist followed.
"Rainbow Dash, these are your sisters, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon."
Diamond Tiara cringed at the mud on the pegasus and flicked her mane, whilst Silver Spoon smiled slightly but frowned once she saw her sister's expression.
From the carriage, a blue unicorn with a platinum and blue mane appeared, she was wearing a very grand turquoise dress which flowed gracefully following her hooves.
"And this is your new mother, Trixie."
Trixie eyed the filly.
"Girls, what do you say?" Trixie asked her own daughters.
The three curtsied.
"Bonjour Dame Rainbow La Dash." They said in unison.
Rainbow Dash smiled brightly, although when ponies call her that she would usually cringe.
"Bonjour." She replied, trying to cross her hooves into a curtsy.
Rainbow Dash sat in bed, her father stood next to her.
"Did you see the way they ate? It was so...so...perfect!" she cried.
"Do you like them?" her father asked.
"Yes, very much!"
"I'm glad you do."
Her father pulled a green book out from under his wing. On it was a picture of a golden mare with a grey scaled mane holding a blue statue swinging over some deadly crocodiles.
"Is that a Daring Do book?"
"The first one in fact. I got it just for you."
He passed her the book, she hugged it tightly.
"Thank you Daddy." The two hugged.
"I hope you're happy because I'm leaving on a trip in four days."
Rainbow frowned.
"What? But you just got back."
"I'll only be two weeks."
Rainbow Dash pouted.
"One,"
"No, two."
"One!"
"Two!"
"One!"
Her father pulled his hoof out and rested his joint on the bed, Rainbow did the same. The two pushed hard, the two doing what they called a hoof wrestle. Unexpectedly, the little filly pushed harder and the stallions hoof landed on her cover.
"Fine, one." The stallion chuckled. He kissed his daughter on her forehead before blowing out her candle.
On the fourth day, the servants and the Baronesses lined up, waiting for the Baron to leave with his wagon.
"I have never seen so many gloomy faces." The Baron said. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon."
The Baron and Trixie gave each other a quick embrace. He then walked over to Rainbow Dash, a few tears escaped her eyes, but she wiped them away.
"Don't worry Dashie, I'll be back soon."
The two hugged before the stallion went and saddled himself into the wagon. He trotted around the bend behind some trees. Trixie, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon headed for the door.
"Wait!" Rainbow cried. "Its tradition, he always waves at the gates!"
Trixie merely rolled her eyes as her daughters followed her inside. Rainbow grunted and ran around the corner. Her father was just a few steps from the gate. But before he could turn and wave, his hoof clutched his heart and he fell out of the wagon.
"DADDY!?" Rainbow cried as she ran over to him.
When Trixie heard the scream she too ran to his side. The stallion's gold eyes stared up at his wife, but before he said anything he turned to his daughter. Tears endlessly falling from her magenta eyes. He smiled and brushed her mane away.
"I love you." He muttered before finally closing his eyes
"No, no, no no no no no no no no no. Daddy wake up. Wake up! Daddy don't leave me!"
"Oh my word." Trixie said before leaving his side. A few tears falling from her purple eyes.
Pinkie Pie's mane deflated, Cheese Sandwich comforting her. Fluttershy walked up to Rainbow Dash, tears also falling but she tried to look brave.
"Rainbow Dash? It's okay sweetie." She put one hoof on her shoulder but the foal shrugged it off. The filly just hugged her father's lifeless body. Tears landing on his pale coat.
Her father, her only family. Gone forever.
It would be ten years till Rainbow would have another stallion in her life.
