Chapter 23

[Sans' PoV, finally.]

Grillby. He'd know what to get (y/n) for Valentine's Day tomorrow. I pushed open the doors, signaling a small 'ding' from a bell attached to the door. Everyone looked to the door and drowned me in greetings.

"Hey Sans!"

"Hiya Sansy~"

"Welcome, Sans!"

"How's your day been, Sans?"

I love the feeling of being famous, actually. Well, only in Grillby's I guess. I waved at them. I sat at the bar stool as the chatter began to stir up again. I leaned on the table, folding my hands. "heya, grillbz."

"... Hi." Grillby continued cleaning the glass with a white rag. "Would you like to order? Or are you here just because you want to talk like you usually do?"

"eh, i guess i'll order while i talk." He turned to a shelf behind him, gave me a menu, and walked away to put the glass up. I scanned the menu, hoping that there was something I could get (y/n) to try since she's never had Grillby's food before. "Done?"

"o-oh, i guess i'll have the Soufflame, then."

"Nice choice." He wrote it down on a small notepad, took the menu and set it down. "Two?"

"how'd you know?"

"Lucky guess." He scribbled something down and tore a piece of paper, sliding it under the shelf. "It'll be ready in about 5 minutes." Someone said from behind it. Grillby started to clean other dishes, and that meant I had to start the conversation. "s-so, about valentine's day-"

"A locket." He looked at me. "what?"

"Get her a locket."

"how did you know i was talking about (y/n)?"

"Lucky guess."

"i'm starting to think that it's just more than lucky guesses, grillby." He chuckled. "Well, I hope you take my advice though." I tapped the bar table. "how do you know that she'll like it?" Grillby stopped cleaning his glass and leaned forward, looking me straight in my eyesockets.

"Listen, Sans." He said. He poked my chest. "I have a wife and a daughter, how do you think I did it?"

"lockets?" I leaned back a bit.

"Motherfucking right." Get leaned back, allowing me to sit upright as he stood properly. "Women like lockets. Especially if you put a non-cheesy quote in it. If you put something unoriginal like 'You are the light of my life,' or something, she's guaranteed to divorce you."

"i would've never known..." I said sarcastically, looking down and to my right slightly.

"I know, right? That's why I help you with these things. Remember when you tried to get Toriel?"

"oh man, please no."

"You tried to impress her by riding the unicycle,"

"grillby-"

"And when you fell,"

"sto-"

"You landed on Undyne and your face was near her chest."

"you are a savage, you hear me?" He laughed. "At least she's back with Asgore now, I never liked the idea of you and Toriel. She's about 100 years old, correct?"

"yeah... i guess i did kinda... overrate her." The bell for the food rang and Grillby picked up two Soufflames. "Here you are." He sat them down in front of me. "You don't need to pay."

"let me guess, is it because undyne's chest is an inside joke?"

"Yes!" He said and started to laugh quietly but uncontrollably. You know, like how you and your friend do something funny during a test so you laugh quietly so the teacher doesn't send you out? yeah, he was laughing because he didn't want the whole diner to think he was crazy.

"well, gotta run."

"See ya, Sans. Hope we can have another fun chat like this again." He waved bye as I took the two Soufflames and headed out.

This is why me and Grillby are best buds.

[(Y/N)'s PoV]

I guess I fell asleep somehow and I woke up inside? "AH! YOU'RE AWAKE, (Y/N)!" That screaming voice...? Who was that? The door opened to a tall figure.

Papyrus.

Of course, he's the first person I needed to see after stepping on a flower out in the cold white abyss outside. "I HAVE MADE YOU SOME SPAGHETTI TO WARM YOU UP!"

"Thanks, Pap." I said as he approached. "YOU WERE OUT FOR A FEW DAYS-"

"What?"

"UH, LET ME START THIS OVER." He cleared his throat, I guess? he walked out of the room, slammed the door, waited a full minute and opened it. "AH! YOU'RE AWAKE, (Y/N)!" I sighed.

"I HAVE MADE SOME SPAGHETTI TO WARM YOU UP!"

"Papyrus, I just wanted to know if I heard you correctly. Was I really out for a few days?"

"OH, WELL, TORIEL SAID IT WAS PROBABLY TOO COLD FOR YOU AND IT GOT REALLY, REALLY COLD. I THINK IT'S A HUMAN THING?" I nodded. "Very well. Say, what day is it today?"

"FEBRUARY FOURTEENTH, WHY?"
