APPEARANCE: A smaller planet with vast rings (made from unknown substances), cloudy grey towards the north of the planet, long blue swathes of ocean are visible from space, mostly green, brown and purple from the different terrains of the planet, with grey from the towering mountain ranges arcing along the equator. 40% of Aphelion is covered in ocean, 15% is inhospitable frozen ground; the wild moorland overs 30% of the planet, the last 15% is where 65% of the population resides — in cities, coastal and isolated mountain settlements, etc.

CLIMATE: There is no regulation to the seasons. Spring and autumn are typically more consistent, but Summer and Winter can last weeks or years. Summers are typically mild but can spike in temperature randomly. Winters are freezing and dangerous but survivable.

TRADE: Mithril (ore mined from its moon, Moria, which can be forged into weapons and armour — can repel and withstand lightsabers; strong as beskar; armour can make a person "invisible" to the Force), Kyber crystals (found on its moon, Sappho; also found in the mountains below the Temple of the Thirteen), medicine (extracted from the Astraeus flower)

CULTURE: Focused on liberty and peace. They have an old language which still echoes in places, and a religion that still has many devoted followers and is entrenched in the celebrations and ceremonies on Aphelion. Prayer and worship for each of the Thirteen Deities is taught from childhood. The people have many celebrations including: Moonlight Festival (celebrated during in Winter for hope that light will return); Sunlight Festival (a week-long celebration surrounding the longest day of the year; a celebration of life); Starlight Festival (to celebrate Sappho and Ashla — the heroes of Aphelion who prevented the destruction of the planet). Aphelion and its moons have a unique connection through the Force: the condition of the moons does affect the planet itself. For example, in winter Aphelion's skies change from blue to purple.

               Aphelion's mining company is known across the galaxy, funding and gifting resources to planets from the Core to the Outer Rim. Aphelion also mines for itself on other planets — notably Tatooine (prior to the Crisis of Aphelion), Mandalore (prior to its civil war).

               Aphelion's Curse is an old myth written to explain the unpredictable seasons. People say that the planet's rings are said to cause the colder weather, although some argue that Aphelion responds to the Force — freak winter storms are the result of shifts. One thing is certain: when Winter grows long and the ice deserts spread too far south, the planet's rings will collapse and Aphelion will be rendered frozen. Ancient Apheli mythology says the planet's rings were made from frozen dragon eggs. What the rings are truly made of is unknown. Aphelion carries a prophecy called "The Night's Promise" (also referred to as "The Moon's Song"). It foretells the rise of a destructive power to make or break galaxies and the rise of a lost power. Combined, the powers of chaos and balance will rival the power which brought Aphelion into existence. (There is no conclusion to the prophecy.)

                Much of Aphelion's population suffers from economic divides, partly due to how isolated some of the villages are. The rich mostly occupy the capital city, Alora, and the northern settlement, Jupiter. The poorer members of the population keep to themselves and seem content — their survival is based on subsistence farming and small trade between villages. The isolated locations have the deepest connection to the old Apheli religion and language. Jupiter is one of the northernmost settlements on the planet. As it is stuck in near-permanent winter, the city is domed (like a forcefield) to maintain warmer conditions for its inhabitants. Due to Jupiter's safety, Aphelion's crucial documents and histories are kept there to be safe from Winter.

                    Aphelion's wealth comes from the mines on its second moon, Moria. Mithril and other valuable ore is mined and transported to Aphelion to be refined and fashioned into products before being shipped to every corner of the galaxy. Millenia ago, the mining trade was started by two partners: Vala and Sol. They grew the operation into a wealthy empire and even discovered a reptilian breed living in the natural caves — they named them Mithridragons, after their most coveted export. Due to the greed of both partners, they separated with disastrous consequences. The Valarys and Solarys dynasties were forged, and the Solari were exiled to Hemera (the planet closest to the sun, Lena). The Head of House Solarys demanded a share of the Mithridragons still alive on Aphelion, but House Valarys refused. So began centuries of disagreements and rivalries between the two families — which led to the Crisis of Aphelion ten years before the Battle of Geonosis and the dawn of the Clone Wars.

               Currently, the mining trade is under threat and the winds are growing colder, leading to unhappiness amongst the population.

TWO. Moria

                Minor natural satellite of the planet Aphelion. Nicknamed the "Dark"/"Dead"/"Bad" Moon. Moria once bore great jungles and mountains, teeming with wildlife. After the Great Desolation, the moon was rendered inhospitable. No one can set foot on the surface for extended periods of time as the atmosphere is not breathable to the majority of species. The old rivers and forests have been turned to grey gravel deserts; all the old villages were reduced to rubble and some wonder if they ever existed at all.

                After the Desolation, Mithridragons were discovered in the caverns beneath the surface when Vala and Sol created their mining empire. The galaxy's greatest pockets of mithril are found in Moria's caves. The substance is highly valuable and people say that mithril was made from dragon blood, and that is why its armour is almost impenetrable and makes the wearer appear invisible to the Force. Due to Aphelion's greedy history, the mines on Moria are currently not operational.

THREE. Sappho

                 Nicknamed the "Good Moon". While Moria has withered, Sappho flourishes. To respect Aphelion's past and the planet's heritage connected to its oldest heroes, the moon is left to grow in its own way. To all known knowledge, no one has lived — or stepped foot — on Sappho in centuries. As Aphelion's primary satellite, it has a greater influence over the tides on Aphelion. Like Aphelion itself, Sappho's sunrises and sunsets are said to be unlike any other. Sappho's sky is lilac and deepens to indigo at night.

               Sappho is dominated by pine forests, meadows and rolling peaks. Over the centuries, early Jedi used to visit Sappho to find kyber crystals buried in the soil. This ended when the planet Ilum was discovered, and when veins of crystals were also found in Aphelion's mountains. The night-blooming Astraeus flower is also native here. The flower has been bred on Aphelion for its medicinal properties. The flower was first planted by Ashla Tethys — a native of the planet Hemera, a Jedi hero, and the last known inhabitant of the moon — to honour her wife, Astraea "Sappho" Titan, who sacrificed herself in the Great Desolation. The moon was named after Aphelion's hero.

FOUR. Hemera

MOONS: 1 (Luan)

APPEARANCE: Hemera is a small planet (larger than Aphelion). From space, the planet is blue, green and yellow — this reflects the planet's oceans (covering 60% of the planet's surface), beaches, and rainforests. Hemera also contains islands, small deserts and underwater settlements. Its beaches have a mixture of sand and tiny crystals which are nicknamed "wyvern tears".

CLIMATE: Hemera is the closest planet to the Valyrian System's sun, Lena. Nicknamed the planet of "always summer", its winters are always few and very mild. Every century, Hemera will experience a greater winter than can last six months, but is still typically mild compared to winters on other planets. Hemera does, however, have a wet season which keeps the continents of the planet safe from drought.

TRADE: Fruit, building materials, stained transparisteel (glass), fuel (excavated from the ocean floor)

LOYALTY: Republic (holds a tenuous relationship with Aphelion due to centuries of disagreements)
