Chapter 12

"How can I help you?" the stone cold Fuutarou Uesugi asked opening the door.

"Hi! We're your neighbors, we'd like to introduce ourselves." Ichika smiled beckoning the others to do the same.

It hurt the five knowing that the guy who turned their life upside down had no idea who they were. They managed to put up fake smiles for him.

"Aren't you guys from the hospital?" he answered.

"Actually yes, but we were just about to head out one day, when you were walking back home." Itsuki explained.

"And then you weren't paying attention and you kind of had an accident..." Nino said.

"So we ran over and helped you get to the hospital!" Yotsuba nodded.

They were lying of course, they actually hadn't heard about the accident until their father called. But when they said this they were hoping he wouldn't turn them away.

He bowed, "Thank you very much."

"Eh?" They were shocked at the polite meaner he greeted them in.

"If it weren't for you I may not have survived." he thanked them.

"Oh it's not problem." Miku stated still stunned at this version of Fuutarou. Normally they never got to see his polite side, he'd always be yelling at them.

"Also, I'm sure my sister and father would be worried. Not to mention that if we'd use an ambulance it would have been more money..." he seemed lost in thought.

"It's okay," Nino assured him, "Our father is the doctor there, that's why we brought you, he said there's no charge."

"Really?" the five nodded. He started putting on his shoes, "Then I must go thank him at once."

"Uh, you don't really-"

"Excuse me, thank you for letting me know, make yourselves at home until I come back!" he said taking off, leaving the quintuplets stunned.

"That was weird." Ichika said. The rest nodded.

"I thought dad said that he shouldn't act different." Yotsuba said suspicious.

"Maybe we've never met the polite side of him," Miku shrugged.

"It's odd though, seeing him like this." Itsuki shook her head.

"I'm not complaining, I think it's kind of cute." Nino laughed.

The others also chuckled a bit before going a few doors down to their apartment.

Back in the hospital Fuutarou Uesugi raced to find where the doctor was. He was in debt to this man. His family was dirt poor, his father barely being to pay the rent and put money on the table. He knew that the hospital bills would overwhelm his father to work even harder.

He burst through the doors of the hospital frantically looking for the man, who not only saved his life, but saved the lives of his father and beloved sister.

He ran to the front desk, the attendant was stunned that this eighteen year old guy was looking for the head doctor.

"A-are you hurt?" she asked him.

"No, I just need to thank him." he answered.

She nodded, "I see, he's on his lunch break, but I'll see if he can talk to you." she picked up the phone and punched some numbers.

She spoke for a few moments, then nodded. "He'll be glad to see you."

She told me directions of where to go. "Go up the stairs, take a left, then two rights and you should be at another staircase. Take that up two flights and you should arrive in the break room. The head doctor's room is all the way in the back on the left."

The boy nodded going up the stairs. He then took a left, then took two rights. Indeed there was another staircase that he took up. There was a window, he took a look outside for a second.

"To think I'm lucky to be alive today." he smiled, "I owe those five my entire life." He didn't know this but he's owed them his life ever since the first day he met them.

Saving him twice, helping him out financially and even just being his friend. Possibly more than a friend. He basically owes them anything he becomes.

He entered the break room, the nurses and doctors didn't really mind him being in there. He arrived to the room. The doctor was sitting there with a somewhat serious but also welcoming face.

"Good afternoon sir," Fuutarou bowed.

"Are you doing alright? You really shouldn't be running right now." the doctor consoled his former patient.

"I'm doing well, thank you excusing the payment for my family and I."

"That's not a problem," the doctor smiled,

"But I will work hard to repay the debt I owe you sir." Fuutarou said.

"I already told you, there's no need for that." Mr. Nakano said softly, "Your father and I went to school together, so I'd help him out. He's done a lot for me and my daughters." hinting not specifically at Fuutarou's dad, but at Fuutarou himself.

"My father? Well is there anything I can do for you?" he asked.

Sighing the doctor sat up in his chair, "You really don't give up do you?"

Fuutarou smiled a little, "I really hate to have the guilt that you used up your time and couldn't even get payed for it."

"Trust me kid, you and your family have done lots for my family."

"Well can I at least do one thing?" Fuutarou pleaded.

An idea popped into the doctor's mind just then. An idea that could someone into the best school in the world. He nodded, excited with the idea that he thought of.

One that would impact everyone's lives, for worse, and for the best.

"I want you to tutor my daughters."
