PJ's new reference sheet!
I love my baby ;w;
Also this took me seven hours help
In other news
I joined art fight this year and it was kinda a mistake?? I just have so many projects I want to work on and art fight saps like 75% of my free time. It's fun, of course it is, but there's an expectation for you to put in as much or more effort in your attacks as everyone else, and it's hard to get back into the swing of actual, fully rendered art with backgrounds and everything after I just spent the last month on doodles for myself.
Beyond that..
It feels like it's been forever since I talked about anything here. I used to include a whole bunch of stupid ramblings about me or about what was going on in my life along with the art I posted, but I just don't really do that a lot.
Kinda wish I still had time to.
So here's an update on me. For old time's sake.
I recently got back into DC Comics. (None of you probably care about that anymore—any friends(?) I once had here from that fanbase have long since left. Probably a good thing? I was a dumb, insecure kid and I based my entire worth as an artist and a person around those people (was what I was doing as good as the content they created? would I ever be on their level? Things like that, things that don't matter so much to me anymore.) and it made me worse for it. I took everything to heart, was awkward and emotional and clingy.. bleh. I'd apologize if that wouldn't make it worse, haha)
Anyway
Not a show or comic series in particular or anything (can't access Young Justice and I don't know where I can, even though I heard there's a third season now), just the general idea of it.
Marvel's dead to me (or at least the MCU), haha. I haven't seen Endgame, and I don't really want to. The conflicts no longer interest me—they all feel like the same battle but with greater stakes each time. It doesn't matter to me whether you're saving New York or the entire universe—those aren't the kind of conflicts I'm looking for. I care more about character development and personal struggles, and I guess there is still some of that, but I'm still adverse to the direction they seem to be taking things. And the only new young hero I care for is Spider-Man.
I just feel like Marvel sets up these relationships that have such great potential to better the characters (such as the mentor/apprentice relationship of Ironman and Spider-Man: it had such perfect potential to turn into father/son, something that would better both characters astronomically, both in terms of helping them personally find meaning in their struggles within the MCU and in terms of making them more likable to the audience. But they didn't really do that—for the most part it stayed a professional relationship, where Tony only ever seemed to be annoyed by Peter. Sure, Tony helped him out and all, but out of obligation, out of some misplaced feeling of responsibility, not out of care. If you step back and look at it, that's all it really is. We're grasping at straws here, guys—we wanted there to be a relationship that Marvel just didn't give us, so every passing phrase is read too far into. Like, my friend told me Infinity War had a few good Tony and Peter moments, but when I watched it I didn't see anything past professional obligation and common human decency driving their interactions. Then again, I haven't seen Endgame and don't know if it progresses past that professionalism there, but I do know what else happens in that film, so it hardly even matters.)
That's just my assessment, though.
Anyway, I'm back to getting my superhero fix from DC again. I haven't kept up with DC during my hiatus with Marvel, so let me know if I've missed out on any good content.
Let's see, other things, other things..
Not much, really. My twin wants to help me draft a plan for a webcomic I want to start. I have two completely separate ideas I might run with.
One is with Caleb and Damon, two lion characters that a lot of you probably either don't remember or have never heard of.
The other is a superhero universe because I need that humanoid practice and if I give them powers, at least I can abstract my disgusting attempts at human anatomy with dramatic lighting from energy beams and whatnot. I'm also feeling a little superhero withdraw—Marvel and I aren't on speaking terms right now (as aforementioned) and I don't know how long old DC content that I've seen before can sustain me, haha
Also sorry for being a bit of a downer in this part?? It's 3am, I'm tired, and I get cynical when I'm tired, haha
Have a nice night, y'all 💛💛 ily
