"Our plans are wrecked." Noya moaned. "He's gonna die because we're gonna go to see the meteor shower and it'll be my fault." "No," Suga said, "He's gonna live because we're going with you and we'll keep an eye on him the entire time."
"And if it fails?!"
"It won't."
"It will!"
"No, listen to me," Suga said, and squatted down to look at me, "It will work, because we'll make it work. Okay?"

Noya swallowed. "Okay."

Lies!

"Now, here's what we'll do. We'll go out on a spectacular double date, to that fancy-ish diner down the street from the pier. Then, we'll finish and grab ice cream from somewhere, and sit down on a blanket to watch the meteor shower. And then you'll go to Asahi's house with him, and watch a good movie or two. After that you'll stay up until midnight, and text me when it all goes well."
"When?"
"When."

If.

Well, at least we have a plan. Albeit one that's a bit flawed.

But I get to spend time with Asahi, so...

I guess it'll be worth it, in the end.

If Asahi survives.

I'm starting to get some serious doubts about this idea.

But do I have a better plan?

...no.

There was a very important test in Yuu's class that day. Thank god Asahi had taught him the subject, because it was impressively difficult even with a good understanding of what was being asked and how to do the work.

I'm so lucky to have Asahi.

Even if things don't work out, I wouldn't trade my time with him for the world.

"Okay, time's up!" The teacher took the papers to grade them and Noya laid his head down on his desk.

Thank god Suga, Daichi, and Kiyoko are here. Suga is empathetic beyond comparison. Daichi is levelheaded in a crisis. They know how to keep calm during a situation like this. And Kiyoko....

Well, Kiyoko's dealt with all of this before.

Kiyoko had done this before. Yuu didn't want her to have to do it again.
