You're Mine Now (Encre X Fallacy Part 2 Final)
Poking the smaller one, it also flinched. 'They look cute.' 'I don't even know what they are.' 'Their bats from the looks of them.' 'Do you know that for sure?' 'Nope.' 'You're no help.' 'I wasn't made to be any help.' 'I wonder why I still talk to you.'
Maybe I could get a latter and a small cage. 'So your going to keep them as pets now?' 'Well they did get into my satchel.' 'That doesn't mean you should keep them!' 'But I could feed them and keep them safe.' 'Or you could release them back into the wild where they belong.' Grumbling in annoyance I stomp over to my closet and take out my tallest ladder. 'Oh look, now you just need a cage.'
I do have a beautiful love bird named Drop. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I used her cage for a bit. 'Now THAT is a bad idea.' 'Oh hush it you.' Going down stairs I spot Drop on one of the windowsills. 'How lucky for you.' Glancing around I walk over to her cage and pluck it off its stand as Drop watched me with curiosity.
The cage was light but it had a weight that said it was strong. It was rounded at the top with grey bars running down attaching to the base. The inner bottom had a nice soft cushion inside it. The cushion was blue with multi colored sprinkles on it.
Bringing it upstairs I set it on my bed and opened the little door then turned to set up the latter. Climbing up said latter I thought for a moment. 'Would it be better to get the bigger one first?' 'If your asking me then yes. The bigger one must be the parent. If it bites you then don't say I didn't warn you.' 'You haven't warned me.' 'But I did. I said it a second ago.' Shaking my head, 'Never mind.'
Lifting up my arm I rested my hand gently on its back. 'At least it'll only be your hand getting bitten.' 'Shut it.' I snapped.
Feeling the bigger ball tense, I didn't really want to provoke a bite but I might just get one. This was really not how I wanted to spend my day but at least it's more eventful then most.
I brought my other arm up and gently cupped the bigger ball carful not to touch the smaller. It seemed to let go of the rafters, if it was on instinct I have no idea. I brought my hands down while keeping the small creature cradled. It was a bat! And it was sleeping! 'How cute, now you have two pet bats.' I'm sure it's a he.
Descending the latter, I put the bat inside Drop's cage and closed it. It could wake at any time and I didn't want it flying out on me.
Ascending the latter once again I quickly looked out the window to see just a few hours of light left until night. Looking back up at the rafters, the smaller of the two seemed to be shaking. Was it awake? Bringing my arm up I placed my palm gently on its back and it tensed but also let go of the rafters.
Descending the latter once again I opened the cage and place the smaller bat inside. Closing the cage I crouched down and starred at them for a moment. These bats looked adorable while they slept.
~
It's been five hours. I had brought Drop's cage stand upstairs along with her resting stand.
The bats were in the corner, away from the window. And Drop's resting stand was next to the windowsill.
I've been sketching these sleeping bats for a while now. 'Maybe you should stop?' 'No! Their cute.' 'All dangerous animals are cute.' 'Bats aren't dangerous!' 'But their wild animals.' 'It doesn't matter!' Huffing I finished shading a picture I had drawn of the larger bat.
A yawn snuck up on me as I stretched. I went to draw more but a creak from the floor boards below caught my attention. Looking out the window the moon was red. 'Uh, isn't that creak meant to be a warning for you?' Gulping I got up and walked towards my bedroom door carful to keep my steps light. I made sure to lock the door before backing away.
I tiptoed over to the bat cage, grabbing a small cloth I draped it over the cage. Whoever is in my home is here for something. I really hope it's not the bats. 'How would they know about the bats?' 'Magic?' 'Sure.' Going to the window I pulled the blinds shut. Hearing another creak I rushed back over to the door grabbing another small cloth and stuffed the keyhole. Having no lights in my house had its perks while having its downs too.
The door nob jiggled and I moved quickly so my back was against the wall right next to the door as my soul thundering against my chest. Who ever it was tried to look through the keyhole since my room became bathed in a very dim red light. 'It's a vampire..' I nodded mutely as I kept my breathing as quiet as possible. 'Hopefully it'll go away..' 'Don't bank on that.' 'I'm not.'
Listening carefully I heard the vamp descend the stairs seeming to 'leave' but I knew better. It was looking for a way in. 'Or it's looking for you.' 'That too.' 'Hey, maybe if your patient enough maybe someone will save you.' 'Not helping my situation.' 'Maybe the bats could lead it away?' 'I'm not sacrificing those cute creatures!' 'Just a thought. You know this.'
I put my head in my hands. It was taking everything I had not to start shaking. A smash startled me but I clamped my hands over my mouth so I wouldn't give away where I was. Another smash and tears pricked at my eye sockets. 'A blood moon. The time where vampires become blood drunk murderers. Why now? Why me?' My subconscious didn't have anything to say for a time. Or maybe it was just me asking impossible questions to myself.
Despite my best efforts, I started shaking. I clamped my eye sockets shut to keep my sobs at bay as the vampire went on relentlessly downstairs. I would have to replace all that later.
"ENCRE!" A voice I knew very well broke through the dead of night. Snapping my eyes opened I didn't move. I was still shaking but the vampire stopped smashing things around in my shop.
My bedroom door was suddenly smashed in, the wood splintering at the force of the punch. My soul dropped and I had a feeling that this wasn't going to end well.
Drops had flown over to my shoulder as she puffed up her feathers to defend me. It was sweet but I knew she wouldn't last more then a second against a vampire.
The vampire entered my room with a quickness and instantly spotted me. I stared at it in horror, but before it could even lunge a stake was imbedded in its chest turning the vampire to dust. My head whipped over to my broken door, it was my best friend Eterna the vampire hunter.
I collapsed to the floor as Eterna rushed to my side, Drops resided on my shoulder and squawked at Eterna threateningly, "Encre, I need you to look at me." Eterna demanded.
Slowly and shakily I looked at her and she breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm glad your okay." She hugged me and I shakily hugged her back. When she pulled back she whacked me on the head, "THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?! Staying here on a blood moon?!"
Wincing I gave her a shaky smile, not really up for talking.
Eterna glared at me, "I should just strap you to one of the beds inside the castle, I swear."
I giggled at her and she gave me a 'really' look.
She sighed and glanced at my smashed in door, "Looks like you need to room with someone until this place is fixed up."
A thought hit me and I gasped, "THE BATS!" I shouted.
Eterna winced then asked, "What bats?"
I quickly shot up, scaring the life out of Drops who flew off in a panic, and rushed over to the cage. Noting the stand was still standing but the cloth was off, the bats were hanging upside down while looking at me wide eyed. Sighing in relief I turned towards Eterna and gestured to the bats, "These bats."
Eterna blinked at them then she glanced at my closed blind blocked window at where the blood moon would be and back to me, "Encre those are vampires."
I gave her a confused look, "If they were vampires then why would they stay in my birds cage?"
She opened her mouth to speak but stopped, seeming deep in thought. Maneuvering her body in a very strange fashion, she left the room.
I turned back towards the bats and smiled at them. Their expressions held fear and extreme caution. Bending my knees I gave them a gentle smile, "Don't worry I won't let big bad Eterna hurt you." Both of their ears fell flat at the mention of her. They must've seen her when she killed that vampire.
I shook my head and stood, grabbing the discarded black cloth, I draped it back over the cage. The bats would add a small amount of weight but I didn't mind. The black cloth would block people from seeing them. I don't want people freaking out because of these bats.
Glancing around my room I spotted my satchel under my bed. Walking over, I grabbed it and put it over my head so the strap rested on my shoulder while the bag laid on my hip. Going back over to Drop's cage I lifted it off its stand, carful not to startle the bats.
Heading down stairs was not as easy as going up even though it should be. Once I hit the bottom I realized that something soft was pressing against my rib cage. I assumed it was the smaller bat pressing against the bars.
Drops had followed me but stayed at a distance. Maybe she was keeping her distance because of the bats?
Going out into the main room I frowned. 'That vampire was really destructive.' 'Don't remind me.' Clutching the rather big cage to me I stepped over large holding cases and shelfs that were ether thrown over or smashed in. Being mindful of the glass that was scattered, I finally left my home. Eterna nowhere in sight.
Maybe she went to hunt more vampires. 'Or she's trying to find proof that these bats are vampires.' 'What proof can she find? Plus they would've bitten me by now.' 'And you wonder why I tell you to do things you shouldn't.' I made a face. 'What's that face for?' 'It's the face of disappointment.' 'Oh? Your disappointed in me?' 'Yes.' 'Doesn't that mean your disappointed in yourself?' Sighing I shook my head and glanced at the sky.
The blood moon was still high so I decided against setting the bats free now, "We will stay at the castle for now." Looking down at the cage in my arms I could still feel a bat pressing against me. Was it scared? Am I making it feel safe? With those questions in mind, I set off for the castle.
~
The walk was uneventful other then the guards questioning me about the bats. I told them that the bats had flown out of my satchel and I found them the next morning attached to the rafters.
They were skeptical for reasons I don't understand but let me go anyways.
As I made my way to the guest rooms I slowed down to examine the wooden door that now had two guards stationed at it. They both greeted me as I walked past and I greeted them.
'Wondering if that vampire is still there?' I ignored my subconscious and continued walking. Reaching the guest rooms I went in and closed the door behind me once Drops flew in. A dresser, a bed, an end table with a lamp were present. Going over to the end table I moved the lamp more off to the side while turning it on and placed the cage next to it.
I looked around the rather small room and noticed there were no windows. 'Nice. You chose a room where you can't see outside.' Rolling my eye lights, I lifted the black cloth off the cage. To my surprise the smaller bat was flying around while the bigger one had a look of irritation. Probably from being locked up.
Watching the smaller one for a moment a small smile graced my features, "Don't worry I'll set you free tomorrow." I yawned and turned to walk around the bed to the dresser.
Picking out a white night gown that seemed slightly big on me, I changed into it while placing my satchel on the dresser. Turning back towards the bed I glanced at the cage to find the small bat hiding behind the big bat who seemed to be looking everywhere but me. Was there something in the room with us? Or was it just curious. Probably curiosity.
Getting into bed I turned the light off and quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.
~
I woke to a concerned maid looming over me.
"Oh my! Miss Encre are you alright?"
Rubbing my eye sockets I looked at her in confusion while sitting up, "I'm fine." I yawned, "Is anything wrong?" I asked.
The maid was now rushing around, "No no, nothing is wrong. The king just wanted to make sure you were alright." She paused mid step and turned to me, "A new set of cloths has been prepared for you. They're on your dresser." And with that she left the room.
I scratched my skull and glanced at Drop's cage. The bats were sleeping. That was good. Looking down, Drops was sleeping on one of the pillows. That was also good. This room is quite dark though. I wish I had picked a different room.
Getting up I turned the lamp on the end table on and noticed the clothes that were prepared for me. It was a dress. Why does the king want me to wear a dress?
Granted I had nothing else to wear at the moment. And all my clothes were in my slightly ruined home. 'Slightly? It looks like you had one crazy party that ended in disaster.' 'You're not helping.' 'Again I wasn't designed to help.' 'What DID I design you for then?' 'I was created so you wouldn't feel alone. Eterna is nice company but she's really your only friend.' 'I wish I had meet more people.' 'Well you can go outside if you want. You already know Sir Azure and Sir Rufous would be more then happy to accompany you.'
'Wow is this dress showy.' It was really showy. Why do I have to be so self conscious? But it was quite pretty. It was tan with red studded stones littered here and there, with long sleeves that were nice and silky, it's length reaching to my feet. Nice and comfy, although it hugs to much in certain areas.
A mirror had, apparently, been brought into the guest room while I slept. How the maids managed that concerned me and I wondered if they were some how secretly ninjas.
Shaking my head I tried pulling up the front part of the dress but my chest wasn't having it. 'Why did you summon your ecto body?' 'Because I thought the dress would be fine.' 'Fine as in: literally everything you have falling out. Or: Overly shy and self conscious.' 'The second one.' 'Hey, if your that self conscious then just imagine yourself in front of Eterna. Imagine what she would say.' 'No, maybe this dress is a bad idea.' 'Change back into the nightgown then.' I had forgotten how hideous the lines tracing my ribcage looked. A birth mark it may be but it looked like some sort of curse was placed on me. Shaking my head I refocused on the dress.
I turned to get a better view of the dress when the light cut out. Freezing I glanced around but I couldn't see very well. 'What turned the light off?' 'Maybe Drops did?' 'How can a bird turn off a lamp?' 'It's one of those lamps that you have to pull to turn off. What do you want me to say?' 'Nothing.'
Something pressed up against my back and I tensed. On instinct in trying to elbow them but they caught my arm. Attempting to elbow them with my other arm failed since they caught that one too. They restrained my wrists with one hand so I went to scream but their free hand covered my mouth. I struggled with a good amount of force but they wouldn't budge so I stopped to conserve energy.
My soul hammered against my ribcage. Who is this person and what do they want?
A deep chuckle rang through the air as the hand the covered my mouth moved to my shoulder while their arm laid across the top part of my chest, whoever it was rested their head on my shoulder. When he spoke his voice held an emotion I couldn't place, "You tease me my master piece." I shivered unintentionally and I felt him shift as he turned his head so his breath tickled my neck. He was a skeleton like myself, that I knew.
"I-I, w-who are you?" I stuttered while attempting to lean as far away from him as possible.
A redly dimmed light lit up the room, "Who I am is not important." He maneuvered his head and I felt something wet touch my neck. Mentally freaking out was an understatement. I tried moving off to the side but his free hand, which was on my shoulder, found its way the my jaw, freezing me. 'Uh, is it just me or is this a really bad situation?'
I started shaking and I felt a chuckle rumble through his chest as he pressed me impossibly closer. He wasn't being rough but he was being gently forceful. He seemed unaccustomed to being gentle as a whole.
What was his aim? To scare me? If so then good for him, he got me. If not then what was he here for? He was tall that's for sure. But how did he get into the castle without being noticed? And where are Drops and the bats?
My thoughts cut out when a searing hot pain shot through the left side of my neck, well, spine. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't even felt him move! Tears fell from my sockets as I clamped them shut. My wrists were now in the gentle grip of his right hand as his left was tilting me head while clamping over my mouth.
I could hear and feel him gulping down the blood from the wound he had inflicted. Trying to move my wrists didn't help any and if I struggled anymore then this vampire might get angry. And with each gulp of 'blood' I felt my strength leaving me.
I wanted to scream but with his hand over my mouth I couldn't. His fangs sunk deeper making the pain heighten, a pathetic whimper escaping me at my own state. Eventually the pain vanished but by then I was way too out of it to process anything else.
Eventually he removed his fangs as he kissed and licked the spot he had bitten. Was that his way of apologizing? I'm to tired to think about that right now. I was leant completely against him and he seemed almost content. He had even released my wrists sometime during that. 'Probably because the fight in you vanished.' My subconscious voice was raspy and scratchy, as if they had been screaming.
He started to sway us back and forth while humming a soft sad tune. It was pretty, I think I liked it. My arms were crossed in a lazy half awake fashion. Another kiss and lick to my neck told me the 'bleeding' hadn't stopped yet.
As I was on the verge of passing out and I felt him lean down and nuzzle my skull while he whispered into my none existent ear, "You're mine now Encre. My beautiful master piece.~"
