Eva and Elaine were at the mall looking for ball dresses. Eva hated shopping and had put it off for as long as possible but the ball was this coming weekend so she had no choice. Elaine, on the other hand, had been kicking and screaming that Eva goes shopping for the past few weeks before all the other girls took the best dresses.
Elaine had been window shopping for the past three weeks and still couldn't find anything, which made Eva cringe even more. Eva just wanted to go into the first shop and come out with a dress, though she knew it would be impossible with Elaine.
When Joseph asked Elaine to the ball, she literally jumped on Joseph and showered his face with kisses. Eva couldn't help but laugh as Joseph moved his face every time Elaine got too close to his mouth. She couldn't help but think he was either loyal to a fault or gay as can be.
But when Elaine heard that Avery had asked Eva to the ball, she attacked her sister with glee. Elaine couldn't believe her sister was asked by one of the hottest guys in town and was quick to question if she could exchange her ball partner with Eva's. That caused Joseph to roll his eyes and throw a pillow at face.
Even though Eva wasn't excited about shopping, she was really excited to go to the ball. It would be her first and last, but she was determined to make it a night she would never forget for the rest of her life.
"You know you're crazy right?" Elaine said to Eva as they walked into the first store, "I can't believe you're doing this."
"I know I'm crazy," she laughed, "but at the end of the day, I'm still going to the ball with the hottest guy in town."
Elaine gave her sister a drool stare before dragging her to the dress rack. Eva had made certain plans for the ball, Elaine didn't agree with her plan but she couldn't say no to her big sister after all she had done for her.
"Try this one on! It's beautiful," Elaine pushed a red lace dress into Eva's arms.
"And so the torture begin!" Eva whined.

After twelve stores, forty-eight dresses, and seven hours they still hadn't found anything. Eva was tired and hangry, all the while Elaine was still in her element adamant to find her sister a dress.
"Within the next thirty minutes, if we don't find a dress, we're going home," Eva whined.
"I'm sure we'll find you something, just stop your whining already."
"Whatever, just hurry up," Eva retorted.
Eva had tried on a blue cocktail dress, baby blue mermaid dress, and two-piece crop top dress. Eva was satisfied with the mermaid style dress, but Elaine commented it wasn't her colour. As Eva was changing out of the last dress she had on, Elaine was still looking around.
Elaine was skimming through the rack when a sale's lady knocked over a flower arrangement off a table. When Elaine looked over there was a rack behind the lady that caught her eye. She walked over and asked why these dresses were hidden in the far corner. The sales assistant explained it was the sampling and damaged racked.
Elaine shrugged and moved to have a closer look at the rack, desperate to find something. Something shiny caught her eye and she moved to grab it. Once she pulled it out and took a good look at it a knowing smile fell upon her face.
"Excuse me, what is wrong with this dress?" she politely asked the sale assistant.
"Beautiful dress isn't it?" she complimented, "The zippers come off it, but that's easy to fix."
Elaine checked the size, size 12 it read. 'Perfect' she thought.
"We'll grab this, thank you."
......................................................
It was the night of the ball and Ivar was sitting in the Sorenson family lounge on his new 'sui generis' wheelchair. It's a chair that is built like a Segway, but to accelerate you lean forward and to slow down or stop lean back. Nick's uncle bought it. Nick and Joseph said it was essential for a good night, and not to ruin the tux from crawling everywhere. Most definitely so he wouldn't get stabbed by heels, but also so he couldn't get accused of perving if caught under a dress.
Not that Ivar was complaining, Ivar had wanted to drive a car since he laid eyes on one. The sui generis wasn't exactly that but close enough with his useless legs. So why was Ivar sitting in a dark blue tux with a rose gold tie on and a new set of legs, face cleanly shaven and his hair in a tidy braid? That would be because Joseph the smart bastard found him a date so that Ivar could keep a close eye on Avery. Why Joseph was being so nice to Ivar, he had no idea. But he took the opportunity he was presented without any fuss.
Joseph was snoozing on the couch with his mouth open when Elaine came walking in. She was expecting to make a grand entrance, hoping to slacken Josephs jaw and even Avery's. When she saw only Ivar sitting there and her date sleeping, she rolled her eyes and made her way to wake Joseph up.
As she shook Joseph awake, Avery made his way inside with a familiar girl Ivar had met before.
"Mhmm... Oh, Elaine, you look beautiful," Joseph said as he wiped the sleep from his eyes.
She was wearing a maroon spaghetti strap dress that was showing plenty of cleavage. Moving down the dress hugs her waist then falls nicely into loose frills to her knees in the front of the dress and long towards the back of the dress. Displaying her lovely tanned legs and pale pink painted toenails in nude open ankle strapped heels.
Elaine was checking Joseph out as he stood tall, he was rocking a suave tux jacket that was also maroon but the lapels were black. His pants, shoes and bow tie also black with a white shirt on the inside and a white handkerchief sitting his breast pocket. He looked smooth with his hair slicked over in a styled comb-over.
Elaine blushed and thanked him, then introduced herself to Avery and the girl he brought. Ivar was not happy assuming that his date was Natalie, a girl he had casually slept with in the past. But Natalie, on the other hand, had a wicked smile and made her way over to Ivar. Elaine excused her self to check on her sister.
"Ivar, it's been a while... I've missed your company," she winked.
Joseph and Avery didn't miss a beat and their jaws dropped.
Ivar ignored her and faced Joseph.
"You couldn't find me anybody else? really?" he simply put.
before anyone could respond Elaine came back into the room with Eva right in tow and literally the room went silent.
She looked magnificent. All the guy's eyes had widened in shock at the person in front of them. Eva looked up to see why everything had gone stiffly still in the room until she saw all eyes on her. Elaine smiled while Natalie sneered while the boys stared in awe.
Eva was wearing a beautiful rose gold sequin dress that tightly hugged all her curves and showed off her tiny waist. The dress flowed into a glittering pile at her feet in a mermaid tail style, whilst the neckline of it was a round neck just showed the top of her cleavage, the bare minimum of it but flowed onto her arms in an off the shoulder long sleeve style. Her arms looked as if they were painted with sequins, she looked like a work of art.
Her hair was in a messy low neck bun, two strands framing each side of her face. Lastly, large rose gold gemstones sitting on her ears nicely. Feeling uncomfortable she cleared her throat and headed straight to Avery welcoming him into their home and introducing herself to his friend he brought.
While Ivar was still staring at Eva in awe, Joseph moved closer to Ivar and whispered low enough that no one would hear.
"Did you seriously freaking sleep with Natalie?"
"So what?!" Ivar snapped.
"Dude, how could you do that when you said you're in love with Eva?" disappointment clear in his voice.
"Why do you care? what does it matter? she isn't going to the ball with me?" Ivar sneered "That is a clear sign of how she feels for me."
"I really don't understand what she see's in you," Joseph shook his head in disappointment.
After Eva gave Joseph a quick hug and they shared a few compliments, she finally moved her attention to Ivar who had been patiently waiting.
"Ivar," she smiled
"Eva..." he breathed, "you look..."
"I know, I know," she smirked at him.
He smiled in reply and grab her hand holding it in his.
"I see, I literally took your breath away," she winked.
Ivar laughed in reply and yanked her hand so that she tumbled into his lap.
"Hey," she squealed, forced to wrap her arms around his neck.
"Where is my hug," he questioned.
She rolled her eyes but smiled and wrapped him in a tight hug.
"Hate to break the party up but we need to hurry so we can take pictures before we go," Elaine said.
Ivar was tempted to flip her the bird but Eva's smile was contagious and he couldn't stop the upturn of his cheeks.
"You look handsome too," Eva said as she patted his cheek.
His cheeks warmed into a light pink as he replied,"I know."
Elaine was pinning a maroon boutonniere to Josephs suit. While Avery and Natalie were talking.
"Where's the corsage, Joseph?" Eva asked.
"Ivar has it," he replied.
"It's right here," Ivar said grabbing it from the floor.
Ivar looked over to Natalie and noticed that she was already wearing a blue corsage that complimented her Navy blue dress.
He then looked at Eva's empty wrist. His face pulled in confusion.
Eva noticed his scrunched up face and chuckle.
"Well hurry up handsome, otherwise we're going to be late," Eva said holding her wrist out to him.
"But I thought..." Ivar said lost for words.
"No you idiot, that day I told Avery that I already had a date but that he could join us if he wanted," she explained.
"Then you pissed me off, so I continued to let you think I was going with him, but this whole time Joseph was just helping me get you ready to be my date."
"You are a beautiful little devil you know that," Ivar chuckled "But you are my beautiful little devil, never forget that Eva," Ivar grabbed her hand, kissing the top of it without breaking eye contact.
