Meanwhile at the other groups:

The kids with the hedgehogs learned that language the same way and also had to do a chant when one died. The dust went into their noses and they couldn't breathe.

The kids with the rodents become friends with the king rat who also died and they learned the rodent language. They too chanted but dust entered their ears and they couldn't hear.

The same with the birds they also learned the language and this time an eagle died. They did the magic and then the dust went into their skin.

Evangeline was one of the kids who got the dust in her skin.

The children at the felines were led by some other cats to the cave again. They stayed there for the next six days as their eyes got better. The cats had given the children cloths to put around their eyes.

On the seventh day none of the children felt pain at all and decided to take the cloths off. As soon as they opened their eyes a cheetah was giving birth to three cubs.

The children were all very happy to see babies and cuddled them a lot.

On the eighth day they asked the felines to take them back to the door. The felines agreed and went with them. The kid's familiars had tamed and were happy with their owners picking them.

When they went to the door, they found it unlocked. They went through it and saw that all the other children were all coming through their doors too! In front of them stood the professor. He welcomed them with a big smile and counted them to make sure none of the kids were missing.

And no one was missing! They had all completed the seven day nature survival test that they hadn't been warned about.

All of the kids sort of hated him but were grateful for what they had learned.

The next few days of school were easy and they flew by like the wind. The kids didn't know that they now had powers. Each team of animals got a special ability.

The bird owners would be able to grow swan like wings on command and had very good vision that helped them see far distances.

The kids with hedgehogs got a very good sense of smell.

The ones at the rodents got excellent hearing.

The cat owners got super speed and night vision.

The four girls chatted away into the night as they now shared a room.

"So Amy, what was it like with the animals?" Angela asked.

"Well it was really sad and we all cried. Poor Henry the hedgehog. Such a happy old fellow. Oh and when we did the chant our ears hurt. What happened to you Angela?"

"Well we all met Matthew. Golden soul he was. Told us he used to skip on the water but his parents forbade him to do that. His dust entered our eyes!" She said and remembered to take out her worm collection. She put it on the bedside table.
"When we could see again some baby cheetahs had just been born. Quite extraordinary, the birth of something. What happened to you two?" She said meaning the Elvencores.

"We met the eagle king. Edmund. He was a bit scary at first." Said Evangeline.

"But then we got used to him." Filled in Elizabeth. "The dirt went into our skin but it mostly hurt our backs."
