LOCKED IN HER ROOM, that's how Roxanne spent the previous days. Just her, laying down in bed, staring off into space. She was leaving tomorrow. Dumbledore informed her the day after the incident that she was to leave Hogwarts on the First of January. Deep down she was still contemplating on staying, but she knew she couldn't. After thinking about the pros and cons, she found it best to leave.
On Christmas she received a few presents, mainly from her roommates, the marauders (which she still hasn't opened) and even from Lily. It warmed her heart, at the thought of having friends even from another dimension.
Everyday she'd hear a knock on the door. Either it was Juliet giving her food to eat, or one of the Marauders desperately trying to apologize. Juliet even informed her that none other than James Potter was camping outside the Hufflepuff common room, waiting for her forgiveness.
Now, Roxanne doesn't want to leave this dimension with bad terms, especially to her friends, even if they didn't saw her as theirs, Roxanne treated them like real friends.
With a sigh, she lifted herself off the bed. Juliet, who was sitting by the bed next to Roxanne's, looked at the blonde in confusion before understanding.
"Are you sure you're ready?" She asked.
Roxanne sighed, "Jules, I'm leaving tomorrow. . . I think they deserve to know I forgive them before I vanish into thin air."
Juliet rolled her eyes before standing up and walking towards the blonde, "now I don't think this is a good idea, mainly because of what they did but as your friend, it's kind of an obligation to support your decision."
Roxanne chuckled lightly before nodding, "I'll miss you, Jules."
"Hey, we can still keep in touch," Juliet smiled, "I'm just one owl away, you know?"
Roxanne only gave her a sad smile, the words that just left her friend's lips made her eyes start to water. The thought of leaving a someone behind was heartbreaking for the girl.
"Hey, don't cry," Juliet whispered, "I'll always be here for you," she said before hugging the girl. Roxanne hugged back, squeezing the girl like her life depended on it.
"I. Will. Miss. Hanging. Out. With. You."
Juliet broke away, "I will to, Xanne."
AS SHE STEPPED OUT the door and turned to the stairs, she saw Remus just by the beginning of the stairs. Roxanne smiled at him, causing the boy to smile as well.
Quickly, Roxanne pushed her feet off the steps and began sprinting down the stairs. Her hands immediately wrapped around Remus' neck as he began to hug back. He nestled his head on her hair as she closed her eyes, missing her friend.
"I missed you, Remus."
"I'm sorry," he whispered. Roxanne broke away from the hug and looked at the boy. "I-i should've done something. . . I should've told you, I shou---"
"It's okay," Roxanne cut him off, "I forgive you, Remy."
Remus smiled in relief before engulfing her again in a hug. Roxanne chuckled, hugging him back once again.
"You'll always be my best friend," she whispered.
Remus laughed lightly, "I know."
Roxanne pulled away, "now I'm afraid, I still need to go to the others."
WHEN THE PAIR arrived outside, Roxanne was pretty confused by the absence of a certain boy.
"I thought James was camping out here?" She asked, turning to Remus.
"He's probably sulking in the dormitory," said Remus, "let's go find Peter and Sirius first."
Roxanne nodded while Remus took the lead. She was trailing behind him, trying to keep up with Remus' long strides. "Can you slow down?"
The boy looked down on her before chuckling, "Sorry, Rox, but that's actually my normal pace. You just really have short legs."
"Oh, shut up," Roxanne huffed, crossing her arms across her chest as she did so.
"Okay, so Sirius must be in the Great Hall eating with Peter since it's lunch." Remus stated.
"What about James?"
"He rarely comes out the room, and when he does it's mostly to go applogize to you or camp out the Hufflepuff common room." He explained. Roxanne nodded her head, still trailing behind him.
"Oh"
Once they arrived at the entrance of the Great Hall, Roxanne briefly caught a glimpse of Sirius grumpily eating soup with Peter across him.
He forcefully shoved the spoon down his food before placing it in his mouth.
"Now what did the soup ever done to you, Siri?" Roxanne piped in, causing the pair to look up in shock. "What, no hug?"
In an instant, the two boys ran to her, engulfing her in a bone crushing hug. Roxanne laughed before hugging them back.
"I missed you guys," she whispered.
"We're sorry," Sirius said. "We were such arseholes to ever do that to you."
"You bet your arses you were," she joked.
"We're being serious, Rox," Peter said.
"But I'm Sirius," the black haired boy pointed out.
"Not the time," Remus said through gritted teeth.
"You know what I mean, right?" Peter asked with hopeful eyes staring at Roxanne.
"I know, Peter." She smiled.
"What about James?" Sirius asked, "he still doesn't know you forgive him. The poor guy's been beating himself up about it."
"That's why I'm going to him now," Roxanne said.
"Oh, I'm coming too!" Peter piped up.
"Me as well," Sirius grinned.
"STOP PUSHING ME, WORMY!" Sirius whisper yelled.
"Well I'm sorry for being too excited about my parents are getting back together," Peter argued, crossing his chubby arms across his chest.
Roxanne was inches away from the door, her hand just centimeters away from the wooden plank. She sucked in a huge amount of breath before knocking.
"Go away, Sirius!" James yelled from the other side.
Roxanne chuckled lightly, "well if you don't want to see me, Jameson then I guess I'd just leave."
A shuffle was heard from the other side followed by a loud thud and a shamble of the door knob. It opened to reveal the one and only James Potter. His hair was messier than usual, his eyes had bags under them and his skin tone grew paler. He looked sickly.
"H-hi," Roxanne said after a few moments of silence.
"Hi," James smiled lightly, making the blonde realise how much she missed seeing that smile.
"Okay," Remus said abruptly, "I guess we should leave." He declared pushing Sirius and Peter lightly.
"But I wanted to listen!" Sirius whined, whilst Remus pulled him by the arm.
The pair chuckled at his behaviour before their laughter died down. James looked down the girl in front of him as she did the same.
"Do you want to come inside?" He offered. Roxanne nodded her head as James stepped aside for her.
As she walked inside, it was like she was in a whole new different room than the one she used to visit. The blankets were lazily hanging down the edges of the beds with pillows scattered around the floor. Papers adorned the carpet and shelves with blotches of ink to accompany it.
"Well, this looks. . . tolerable," she grinned.
James snorted, "me and the guys did a little decoration to it, New Year and all."
"Yeah," she breathed out.
"You're leaving, huh?" He whispered, Roxanne turned her attention to him. The boy who was once the most arrogant jock in Hogwarts was staring down in shame. "Look, Roxanne, I'm sorry. . . I really am, if there was a way for me to turn back time and prevent myself from doing that stupid mistake then I will. . . And if it would take me to move a huge mountain without magic for you to forgive me then I will. I'll do everything for you because. . ." He trailed off, before looking up at her, "because I love you, Roxanne, I really do. I, James Potter is utterly in love with you. And it's not because of a stupid bet but because of the fact that you're you." He said, his tone sincere. "The way you smile, your laugh, your jokes, everything. Even how you always manage to piss Sirius off. . . It's one of the things I love about you."
"James I-"
"And I don't deserve you and I probably never will but," he sighed, "I don't want you to go. . . Please stay, I don't want you to leave."
Roxanne sighed before walking to him, she set her palms on his cheeks as she frowned. "I'm afraid I can't do that, love."
James sighed, "will you stay the night please?"
Roxanne smiled, "Of course, Jameson."
THE NEXT DAY, James woke up alone. His arm wrapped around the place where Roxanne used to be. The pillow she used still having the small indent of where her head was. Tears welled up in his eyes as he realised she was gone.
He turned to his nightstand to gtab his glasses only to see a yellow note laying there. He gently took it and unfolded it.
Thank you for the best three months of my life, Jameson.
Love,
Roxy
