C H A P T E R   E L E V E N

IT WAS THE EVE OF THE BALL, Roxanne eyed her dress sprawled over her bed in delight. She decided in going as a female pirate, remembering how she once dreamed of being one after watching Peter Pan, though less on trying to kill a child.

She flicked her wand as it began to fold neatly in her trunk, readying herself for breakfast.

When she was finally finished putting on her attire for the day, she hurriedly went down the stairs. She saw Juliet at the common room, reading a book while laying on the yellow sofa.

"Hey Jules," she greeted politely while walking past her.

"Wait up, Xanne!" Juliet said quickly, putting a bookmark on the book before closing it. "Let's go to the Great Hall together," she grinned, connecting her arm with Roxanne's as they walk through the door together, passing by the Kitchens as they did so.

"So, Xanne. . ." Juliet trailed off, causing Roxanne to look over at her. "So today's a Hogsmeade visit and I was thinking if maybe you could join us girls for a change? You know like a roommates day out or something, don't worry the other girls will be there as well."

Roxanne pondered for a moment before nodding her head, "sure, now that I think of it, I haven't talked to the others that much."

Juliet's smile widened, "great, just come to us once you're done having breakfast with the Marauders."

Once they were in the Great Hall, Juliet gave Roxanne a small smile before walking off to the Hufflepuff table while Roxanne went to the Gryffindor table where the Marauders were currently sitting on. Surprisingly, Lily and her friends were sitting across from them.

"Good morning everyone," Roxanne grinned as she sat in between Sirius and Peter.

"What's gotten you so happy?" Sirius frowned.

"It's the Ball that's all," she breathed out, fixing her coat in the process.

"And here I was questioning if you're even a girl or not," Sirius stated, "did you got yourself a date yet?"

Roxanne shook her head, "not really, I mean there are some who've asked me but I kinda turned them down."

"Aww, but why Rox?" Lily said while taking a spoonful of bacon.

"Not really my type," she shrugged, "besides, I'd probably just go with my roommates or one of these guys," she gestured to the boys.

"You can go with James, he hasn't asked a girl out yet," Sirius said nonchalantly while poking his fork on an egg.

Roxanne's face turned red, causing Lily to smirk at her. "B-but I thought he was going with you?"

Lily shook her head, "I'm going with Lysander Ross from Ravenclaw."

"I guess it's okay if he is. . ." She trailed off, looking at the messy haired Gryffindor who almost choked on his toast when she said those.

He hastily pulled back his hair with his hands, "sure, sure, I-i'd like to go with you."

"It's settled then," Remus clasped his hands together, "I'm going with Dorcas, while Peter here is going with Mary, Sirius and Anne, and you and James."

"Yeah," Roxanne sighed.

"Xanne, we're going now!" Juliet called off by the entrance with Anne and her other roommates beside her.

"I better get going," she sighed, "I told the girls I'll go to Hogsmeade with them today."

Walking off, she didn't notice the hazel eyes staring fondly at her as she finally came out of view.

"We have to go too," Lily said, standing up and walking away with the girls trailing behind her.

James turned to Sirius, hitting him on the head causing the lad to choke on his bacon, "a simple thank you would've been okay," he mumbled after a coughing fit.

James rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed yet his tinted cheeks meant something different. In fact, he was contemplating on asking Lily but there was a force inside him that made him think everything through until someone got her first. Even so, he kinda liked the idea of going with Roxanne to the ball more than with Lily. . . And that was saying something for him.

Sirius smirked at the sight of James blushing and confused, he patted his back before swinging his arm around his neck, "now let's go stalk Rox and her roommates."
