THE FOLLOWING DAYS CAME IN A BLUR and soon it was a week before the Ball, Roxanne was in her dorm reading "Quidditch Through the Ages". Atleast ten boys had asked her yet they were all met with the same answer, no. It wasn't because of them, it was far from that, Roxanne hoped a certain bespectacled boy would ask her. Though it was an unrealistic thought, she couldn't help but daydream about the day he will.

"Rox, have you seen my necklace?" one of her roommates, Anne, said while fixing her coat.

"No," she answered, "what are you even fussing about?"

"Oh it's Sirius," she giggled, "he asked me out yesterday."

Roxanne smirked, "oh. . . so are you guys a thing now?"

The girl turned to a visible scarlett, Oh shut up, Rox."

"Fine, fine," she breathed, "go have fun you lil shit," she said, picking up a necklace from Anne's bed and giving it to her, she escorted her towards the door before smirking once again, "but don't have too much fun." Anne gasped before hitting Roxanne's shoulder.

"Jeez Anne, save the roughness to Sirius," Roxanne chuckled.

"Sod off, Roxanne!" Anne exclaimed, "are you even going to Hogsmeade today?"

The blonde shrugged, "probably not."

"But why?" The other whined.

"I feel lazy."

"But James'll better there!"

"What does James have to do with this?" Roxanne grimaced.

"Because you love him," Anne smirked while Roxanne rolled her eyes. Her roommates have been bugging her about him, saying they were perfect for each other, though Roxanne would disagree. Simply because she doesn't belong here. Roxanne sighed, causing Anne to look at her strangely.

"Do you even have a costume for the ball?" Roxanne shook her head. Anne grinned, "come on, the guys are already at the grounds to get to Hogsmeade. Let's just hurry to catch up with them, yeah?"

Roxanne groaned, "you're not gonna give up until I agree, aren't you?"

Anne smirked, "nope," she said popping the 'p' at the end. Roxanne rolled her eyes at that but smiled nonetheless at how amusing her friend was being, "now go grab your coat or the others will leave without you."

"Can't I just tag along with you and Sirius?"

"I'm willing to bet you don't want to do that."

"What?" Roxanne frowned in confusion, until the words finally clicked and her whole face turned sour at a laughing Anne, "and you tell me to sod off," she rolled her eyes, "do you kiss Sirius with that mouth?" She said, earning another punch on the arm from Anne.

THERE HE WAS, his hair messier than ever, his glasses a little crooked to the side of his face, barely balancing on the bridge of his nose as his brown coat adorned his body perfectly. Hands on either side of his biceps to add warmth. All in all, he was the same as ever. It was none other than James Potter.

The white snow contrasted to his figure, complimenting the black of his shoes. Peter and Remus was there standing next to Sirius who was sporting his signature leather jacket.

The crunching of the snow underneath the girls' shoes made the four boys turn to their direction.

"T-took you guys long enough," James shivered through his chattering teeth, the cold getting the best of him. The coat he was wearing seemed to have no effect on him and he regretted ever buying it.

"Oh don't be such a baby, Jameson," Roxanne scoffed, making Anne frown in confusion at the nickname.

"She has ridiculous nicknames for all of us," Sirius whispered to her, as if reading her thoughts. Anne nodded in an understanding manner.

"Like yours are any better!" Roxanne argued, pointing an accusing finger at Sirius.

"Now, now," Anne tutted, standing in between the two, " first of all, we came here to go on a date and to be honest I don't want my date to die before we even go somewhere. Second, you---" she pointed at Roxanne, "---came here to get a costume. So go start shopping with those three weirdos over there."

"If you must know," Remus butted in, "Sirius is the weirdest among all of us so don't just generalize the three of us."

"Oh let's just go, Remy," Roxanne huffed, "I'm bloody freezing over here." Remus sighed before nodding his head.

"Fucking finally!" James breathed out.

THE QUARTET STOPPED BY 'Gladrags Wizardwear' where hopefully, Roxanne will purchase her costume for the ball. She had her mind set on a particular costume if there were any left of it, though she highly doubt they'd get out of stock of those. Mostly because the most popular costumes girls have brought are one of those hippie costumes, seeing three out of five of her roommates actually picked those for the party.

The boys immediately sat at the nearest bench near the register as Roxanne began to disappear from the ton of hangers of the store.

Slowly, Roxanne began to compare the clothing store back at her dimension to the one she is now. The walls were adorned with maroon colored walls patterned with intricate golden designs. Cobwebs decorating the corners of the wall for the approaching holiday, along with black paper bats that hung on the ceiling and carved pumpkins standing by the door with mini figures of it that laid on the windowsill.

Her eyes diverted to one of the coat racks which contained female costumes. She grinned to herself before going through the hangers for what she was looking for. She took out the one she wanted before rushing to Remus for his opinion, grabbing one or two more costumes on the way, just in case.

"Remy! Remy! Remy!" She chanted as she neared the three spiritless boys who seemed to get more bored by the second.

"What d'you need, Rox?" Remus asked, pushing himself off the bench, stretching his legs in the process.

"I need your opinion on what costume I should wear," Roxanne breathed out.

"Why do you need only Moony?" James frowned, "does me and Wormy's opinion don't matter to you?"

"No offense, Jameson, but you're as useless as a snail right now," she deadpanned, making Remus chuckle. "Besides, I trust Remus' opinion more on this than you guys," she said before adding, "no offense Petey."

"None taken," Peter breathed out.

James gasped, "Wormtail you're suppose to be on my side!"

"Sorry Prongs, but she does have a point," he said, making Roxanne to smirk smugly at James.

"You guys are so mean!" He complained as Remus and Roxanne walked off.

"Bye Jameson!" Roxanne called off her shoulder.

James slumped down the bench with Peter, his arms crossed in front of his chest with a scowl on his face.

"Can you believe it, Wormy?" He huffed, "she picked Moony over me, me? James Potter!" He exclaimed as if it was a ridiculous choice.

"Jeez Prongs," Peter sighed, "do you ever just think that maybe you can't impress every girl in Hogwarts?"

"Well, I thought that with Evans," he admitted, "but then she finally said yes. . ."

"Tell me Prongs," Peter asked, "do you like Roxanne?"

James sighed pondering for a moment before answering, "I don't know."

"Nice answer, Prongs," Peter muttered sarcastically, "that answer was just so informative, not confusing at all," he said while slow clapping at him.

"Where did this sudden confidence come from, Wormtail?"

"It came from the fact my friend seemed to like my other friend and I'd like them to get together," he smiled returning back to his shy demeanour.

"I didn't say I like her," James breathed out.

"Well you didn't deny it either," Peter retorted.

James smiled amusingly before chuckling, "you're starting to get on my nerves, Wormtail."

At that moment, Roxanne and Remus came into view. Roxanne now holding a hanger that had her costume hanging loosely to it.

She carefully set it down the counter, the lady by the counter smiled at the pair as James and Peter approached them.

"You two are such a cute couple," the lady gushed causing Roxanne and Remus to stand awkwardly.

"W-we're not dating," Remus whispered awkwardly, it was barely audible and seemed like the lady didn't heard it. James came into the rescue as he lazily put his arm around Roxanne's shoulder as if it's where it belonged.

"What took you so long, Rox?" He asked, his voice husky as he smiled down the blonde in his arms.

"But I thought he's your boyfriend?" The lady asked, gesturing to Remus.

James smirked in mischief, "no, that's her gay friend." He answered smoothly, making Peter and Roxanne to purse their lips to stop their laughter while Remus glared down at James.

"Oh, sorry!" The lady apologised hastily at the revelation. "The dress'll be twenty galleons and fifteen sickles."

"Shoot," Roxanne breathed out, "I'm five galleons short, do you guys have any money I can borrow?"

"It's alright, Roxy," James said, grabbing twenty one galleons from his pockets and handing it to the lady.

"I asked for five, not the whole price," Roxanne pointed out, giving James a pointed glare.

"A simple 'thank you' would've been okay, Roxy."

"Here you go," the lady said, handing the paperbag to Roxanne with a sweet smile before the four exit the shop.

"Thanks for the dress, Jameson," Roxanne smiled.

"What's your costume anyway?" James asked.

"It's a secret," Roxanne whispered while doing jazz hands.

"No fair," James pouted, "I was the one who bought it, it's my right to know what is it that was so bloody expensive."

"But I didn't ask you to, did I?" She smirked. James opened his mouth to answer before an abrupt hand harshly collided with his head.

"That's for calling me gay," Remus said from behind him.
