"WHAT THE HELL IS A FANFICTION?" Sirius asked in the middle of Roxanne telling the boys about the other dimension. They we're in the boy's dorm, with the Marauders sitting on Sirius' bed while Roxanne stood in front of them.
"It's kind of like this weird thing where fans of a certain person, book or movie kind of change the plot? I don't really know how to explain it." She shrugged.
"Wait, wait, do we have fanfictions in your dimension?" James asked.
"I think so. . . Harry Potter is famous in my dimension, my sister even made two fanfictions about Remy here." Roxanne smirked at Remus who was blushing furiously.
"You know I need to talk to your little sister like how can I not be her favorite?" Sirius questioned.
"Probably because you're an arse," Roxanne rolled her eyes before slumping down James' bed.
"Well my arse is pretty amazing," Sirius smirked causing everyone in the room to roll their eyes.
"Okay now back to my story," Roxanne said.
"The spotlight is all yours, Rox." Sirius shrugged.
"Do you have quidditch in your dimension?" James asked.
"James your son is a seeker," Roxanne deadpanned.
"Right," said James, "I forgot about that."
"How can you forget something about your son?" Roxanne scoffed, "I can tell you're gonna be a great father, Jameson."
"How can so much sarcasm fit in one person?"
"It's a curse and a blessing," she said, putting her hand on her forehead in mock distress as well as grimacing for effect.
"Okay, so if the both of you will stop flirting with each other," Remus gave the pair a stern look, "let's ask the more serious question here."
"Will Sirius ever get married?" Sirius smirked.
"No," Remus glared at the lad before taking a deep breath, "when will the war end?"
"Simple, when James' son defeats Voldemort."
"Which will be years from now," Sirius groaned, "how in bloody Merlin did we ever survive that long?"
"I don't really know."
"What if we didn't?" Peter cowered. The four boys flinching at the thought. It was the first time they finally felt scared of what was out there. The thought of all of them not making it and eventually forgotten.
Meanwhile, Roxanne was in deep thought. Her thoughts travelling through her mind in search of any clues. Anything that Nicole must've told her about the bloody book. It frustrated her how her past self didn't pay attention. Cursing herself, she turned to the four silent boys.
"Oh don't be so negative, guys," she said in hopes of cheering them up, "for all we know, Jameson here might grow to a hundred years old."
James rolled his eyes but couldn't help the grin from spreading on his features in amusement. "I highly doubt it, Roxy," he tutted, "a hundred really? I can't even get out of bed without panting."
"Too much information, Prongs."
"That's not what I meant, Padfoot."
IN THE LIBRARY, Roxanne sat alone at one of the desks with a book in her hands. She was fascinated on how things here were so similar to the ones back home, yet she wasn't surprised seeing it was inspired by it.
She was in deep thought of a lot of things, not minding the chatters of the other students around her. Ever since Lily agreed on a date with James, it's all everyone talked about. How they were meant to be and how James' work finally paid off. Call her bitter, but Roxanne was sick of it. She didn't have feelings for the messy haired boy, she couldn't have! The thought itself was simply preposterous. Yet, she couldn't help the fact that her heart would inevitably seem to tug down her chest whenever her mind wander to the thought of James and the redhead. How she finds herself having trouble to breath at the thought of his hazel eyes hidden behind the covers of his glasses. Or how her heart seemed to pound louder underneath her chest at the sight of him. No, she didn't like James Potter. She couldn't.
"Having fun staring off into space?" Juliet asked, sliding down to sit at the chair next to her.
Roxanne offered her a gentle smile, "just thinking, that's all," she sighed, "I kinda miss home."
"Why did you transfer school then?" The girl questioned, making Roxanne's eyes to widen. She forgotten that no one else knew about her condition. She thanked the man in the sky that she hasn't blurted out anything. "did you guys move or something?"
"Oh, I was homeschooled since I was eleven and transferred after my mum died three months ago." She found it easy to lie to her, her Slytherin potential showing off as she did so. Although it wasn't a whole lie. Some of it was actually true.
"Oh. . . I'm sorry for your loss," and there it was. Roxanne internally cringed whenever people do that. She didn't like how everyone apologised for something they didn't even do or help prevent. It sent her in spirals at how sympathy works for people.
"Would you mind helping me for this essay? Professor Mowley gives the worst assignments," Juliet groaned, "I wish I never took Arithmancy."
"Sorry Jules," Roxanne sighed, "but you're on your own." Smirking as she heard the girl grumble profanities under her breath.
THE NEXT DAY, Roxanne sat at Potions class way earlier than usual. It was the subject after lunch and she found herself not having enough appetite to eat much.
She took out her notes from the day before, examining the words she scribbled down in a rush. Furrowing her eyebrows as she tried to decipher the letters she created.
"Having trouble, Roxy?" James said behind her.
"You're actually early for class?" She asked, ignoring the question he just said.
"If I want to be an Auror when I grow up then I should start coming to class."
"This must be a dream, dear Merlin, tell me this is a dream." She gasped out dramatically.
"You're even worse than Sirius," he scoffed.
"No one can be worse than Sirius," she deadpanned, "it's bloody impossible!"
"I'm telling Sirius," he smirked.
"Go ahead," Roxanne smirked, crossing her arms, "I'm willing to bet a galleon that he won't even argue with it."
James pondered for a moment before shrugging, "I suppose so."
Roxanne fistbumped the air with a goofy grin creeping on her lips before turning back to her notes. Meanwhile, James looked at her. Not in a creepy way, more of in adoration. But not like the ones he'd give Lily.
The blonde became aware of the eyes staring at her as she smirked, "take a picture, it's lasts longer."
"Haha, you're so funny, Roxy."
"I know I am, Jameson." She teased making James smile at her genuinely. The way her eyes glimmer whenever she pisses one of them off, mostly Sirius. Or how her eyebrows would furrow in confusion, just like how she's doing now as she stared down her notebook. A warm feeling surge throughout his body as he felt a sense of comfort whenever he's with her. And he might fail to admit it, but he felt home.
