Tate Langdon - Saviour

"(Y/N)." My mother said softly, trying to wake me. "(Y/N), wake up sweetie, we're here." My mother shook em lightly.

I groaned in response and slowly opened my eyes, giving them time to adjust to the light. I looked out of the car window at the house that was not ours.

My mother and I moved here because my parents separated a few months ago and my mum wanted to move closer to family.

I climbed out of the car and helped my mum unpack the car. We didn't bring any furniture because the house come fully furnished which was included in the price. I grabbed the box which had most of my things inside and walked into the house, my mother right behind me.

"You can go and choose your room if you want." My mum said.

"Really?" I replied.

"Yeah. Of course." My mum smiled at me.

"I'll come back down and help you unpack everything." I reply.

My mother waved her hand and dismissed my comment. "No need, go and decorate your room."

"Thanks!" I say and kissed her in the cheek.

"I'll call you down for dinner later." My mum replied.

***

Later that night everything was unpacked and the house looked lived in. I was sat up in my bed reading a book when the light suddenly went out. I looked up from my book.

"Mom?" I said aloud. I pulled the covers away from my body and climbed out of my bed. I tried to turn the light back on but it wouldn't work.

"Mom?" I called out again. I walk down the hallway to her room and peered inside. She was fast asleep.

Bang.

My attention was suddenly diverted to the staircase. The voice in my head was telling me to go back to my room and ignore it but my body was already half way down the stairs.

Once I was downstairs, I looked around, everything seemed to be where it was before. Nothing down here could of made that noise. I tried to turn on the light switch, but these ones didn't work either. They worked fine earlier. I thought to myself.

Bang.

My thoughts were interrupted by the same noise as before. This time it was coming from the basement. I began to decend down the stairs.

"Whoever is down there, leave or I'm calling the cops." I say while gripping the railing a little tighter.

As my feet touched the basement floor, I looked around a little. There seemed to be no one here.

Bang.

I jumped and quickly looked behind me. There was a box on the floor. I slowly bent down and picked it up from the floor.

My whole body suddenly went rigid as I felt breathing on my neck. I slowly turned my head.

I screamed.

I dropped the box and backed into a corner and put my arms over my face to shield myself. I slid my back down the wall and tried to get as small as possible. I was terrified. My heart was beating so fast it felt as if it would burst out of my chest.

I felt a seering pain in my arm. I placed my hand over it and I felt liquid. I drew my hand away and it was dripping with blood. My blood. My eyes began to sting with tears. The pain was unbearable. The thing was getting ready for another attack before a figure ran in front of me protectively.

"Go away Thaddeus." They said. And then there was silence.

"Are you okay?" The person asked.

I couldn't find the words to say. I was in shock. He bent down and placed his hands on my shoulders and helped me stand up. I looked up at him.  Even in the minimal light, I could see that he had blonde shaggy hair and brown, almost black eyes.

"Who are you?" I finally ask. My voice shaking slightly.

"I'm Tate." He says.

"How did you get in my house?" I ask.

He hesitated for a moment. "Ivwas walking by and I heard you scream so I come to see what was going on."

I nodded, believing his story. "Okay. That makes sense."

"Are you okay?" He asked again.

"Um, yeah mostly. It's just that my arms bleeding." I say and look down at my arm which was still bleeding, just not as much as before.

"You should go back upstairs incase it comes back. You should clean your arm us as well." Tate said.

I nodded in response and began to ascend the stairs, clutching my arm. As I was halfway up I remembered that I forgot to say thank you.
"Hey, I forgot to say thank you-" I stopped ed d myself because I saw that he had gone, no trace of home being here. I'll just thank him next time I see him. I say and continue up the stairs.

Unbeknownst to me, Tate heard me and uttered a small 'You're welcome' and a smile, even though he knew I couldn't hear it.
