Chris fell to the ground almost immediately. Screaming as he did so. He felt the Dormins bite, scratch, chew, claw, and even lick him. Chris tried desperately to get them off, but it was useless. His screams turned into shrieks of pain. From a small gap from where the Dormins sat on top of him, Chris saw several other Dormins fly across the room, screeching in pain as they flew. The Dormins on him went flying as well, setting Chris free. Chris quickly scrambled to his feet. Next to him, he saw Evalyn.
Her eyes were glowing their usual blue color and he watched as she flung the Dormins left and right. A Dormin snuck around back and tackled her to the ground. Chris ran to help. As he did so, a flash of fur whizzed past him, tackling the Dormin and tearing it to pieces. It was a leopard. It was larger than life with bright, glowing green eyes that looked frighteningly familiar. "Is that Leo?!" He couldn't help but ask in a situation like this. Evalyn jumped to feet and joined Chris at his side.
"Yup." She said, flinging more Dormins. "It's his ultimate form."
"Well then! I think you forgot to mention that small detail." Chris said as he ducked out of the way of a charging Dormin.
"Yeah! And you know what?" She said. "Now will be a good time to unleash some powers of your own!" Chris' eyes grew. In a moment like this, the pressure laid heavily on his shoulders. He gulped.
"I-I'll try." He muttered. A Dormin came right between them, knocking Chris against the filing cabinets and Evalyn near the doorway. The sound of Xavier's laughter echoed throughout the room. Evalyn was pushed into the hallway where twenty Dormins surrounded her. Far beyond the house, she could hear the screams of the other children as the Dormins ran around terrorizing. Monsters, she thought with much hatred.
Evalyn closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The Dormins hissed and crackled at her look of defeat. Evalyn flashed opened her eyes and thrusted her arms inward and outward sending a heavy wave over the Dormins, sending them flying backwards, screeching as they did so. Evalyn stumbled back against the wall, exhausted. I don't how long I can keep this up, she thought to herself. Chris better unlock his powers or we'll be screwed for sure. Leo came bounding over effortlessly in his big cat form. Sensing his Bonded's tiredness, he made sure to keep as many Dormins off her as possible.
Pull a move like that again, you'll be done for! Leo said in a deep, rippling voice.
"Sorry." Evalyn said with weak smile. "But what's the fun in that?" More Dormins descended upon them. Leo and Evalyn did their best to fight them off. In the office, Chris did his best to unleash his powers, but he couldn't think clearly enough due to the oncoming of Dormins. He ducked, punched, and weaved his way through the crowd of demons. He was eventually pushed in an open area in the office where he fell flat on his face.
Xavier laughed above him. "How pathetic." He said. "I can't believe you're the half-blood that has Tigen on its feet about!" He crouched down in front of Chris. "I mean really? To be honest, I asked our Grand Leader to execute you many, many times, but no. Apparently you are way too special for that." Xavier rolled his eyes. He then grabbed Chris by the hair and pulled his head up to where they met face to face. Chris stared into those black eyes, he could only see evil, anger, and sadness. He wondered what brought his once friend into this state?
Xavier cocked his head at him as if he heard his thoughts. "Oh, I wasn't always this way." He said with a grin. "I was a stupid boy back then. My friends dared me to cross the border of the Dead Lands. And once we all crossed the border, Dormins grabbed us and turned us. It took a long while for me to be able to transform back into my human body I was able to control and harness my new abilities. But the thing is... that was the best day of my life. I now have ultimate powers!" He shoved Chris away from him and laughed.
"And you!" He continued. "Can't even figure out how to use your powers! How ridiculous." Xavier raised his hand and black dagger appeared out of thin air. "Oh well." And Xavier swung down.
