"We need to get him to a hospital." Even observed as the group fussed over a blood-gushing Isak. He quickly looked up at his boyfriends' friends and asked them seriously, "You coming?" "Of course!" The boys gave him a look that said there was no way they were leaving Isak, nor Even himself, in this state.

The group quickly rushed to the nearest hospital, using Even's sweatshirt under his jacket to try to stop the bleeding on the way. "But that's one of your favorites!" Isak tried to protest, but Even didn't listen as he did his best to tie the sweatshirt in the most efficient way possible.

Once the boys had arrived at the hospital, Even left Isak in the care of his friends in order to explain to the receptionist at the front desk what had happened, and try to get Isak in as soon as possible.
 
Luckily they were able to get him with a doctor almost immediately. As Even stood up to follow them, however, the nosey-seeming nurse immediately stopped him and asked what his relationship was to the 'patient'.

"Boyfriend." Even spoke as if it was obvious, already too angry with Elias and the others to deal with anymore homophobia that day.

The nurse gave a shocked look, but immediately covered it with a "Immediate family only, sorry." Before following Even  and the doctor quickly through a door and out of sight.

Dumbfounded, Even sat down and stared at the floor. He suddenly felt a hand on his arm and looked up to meet caring brown eyes and bushy eyebrows furrowed in concern.

"You ok bro?" Even shrugged at Jonas, who gave him a worried look. "Don't worry man, he'll be alright." Mahdi assured, and Even gave a half smile. "I know that, sure he lost a lot of blood but it was just a punch after all. I'm..." Even trailed off and the boys' concern seemed to heighten.

It was almost annoying, having people who cared so much. Even was still not used to it.

"Annoyed about what that prick Elias said?" Magnus offered, earning a punch in the arm from Jonas and a "What the fuck man?!" From Mahdi.

Even sighed and laughed half-heartedly. "It's ok, guys. I'm just- yeah, annoyed I guess."

"At Elias?" Magnus offered again, earning another punch to the arm.

"What the fuck man?! Stop punching me!" Mahdi rolled his eyes but turned back to Even, who shook his head.

"No.. I mean yes, but not just that."

The other boys shared confused looks, "I'm not sure we understand what you mean."

Even looked back up to Jonas, who had his head cocked in confusion.

"It's just- yeah, did you see the look the nurse gave me when I said 'boyfriend'?"

Mahdi nodded, "Yeah I think I get ya man. You're just annoyed at it all."

Even gave a half-smile and nodded, "Exactly. It's like- it's not that bad, sure, with you guys being supportive and all, but every now and then someone comes along and says or does something that just-"

"Really pisses you off."

The four boys suddenly looked up to see Isak standing in front of them, a pill bottle in one hand and an ice pack being held to his face in the other. A small smile peaked out from under the ice pack, and Even smiled in turn.

"You're back already?" "Yeah, that was quick!" "Usually these things take forever..." Isak laughed and sat on the ground next to Even, leaning his head on the elder boys' shoulder.

"Yeah, all they did was go over what happened - I told them it was just an argument that got heated, didn't give any names - and they gave me an ice pack and some pain meds." Isak lifted the hand that had the pill bottle in it and shook the small, round pills inside.

"Why are you covering for them?" "Yeah if you ask me, they deserve to get a beating right back at them!" Mahdi and Magnus began, but were interrupted by a suddenly serious Isak,

"No! You guys wont do anything back at them, okay?"

The boys grunted and Even continued where his boyfriend left off,

"Yeah, it means a lot, you guys sticking up for us and everything, but we can take care of ourselves."

"Yeah, besides," Jonas agreed with a smirk, "We got a couple good hits on 'em too!"

The boys laughed, eventually standing up and splitting ways, throwing out some 'See you at school!' And 'Stay safe!'s as they parted ways.

At home, the two boys rested on the couch, exhausted from the day's events.

The sun was already setting by now, and the boys were cuddled into each other with nothing but the light of the TV screen illuminating the room.

"Even?" Isak's frail voice spoke into the darkness.

"Yeah?" Even looked down at the younger boy who was cuddled into his side.

"I love you." Isak whispered after a moment of quiet pondering.

Even smiled, "I love you too."

Isak smiled gleefully at the response and returned his attention to the TV, leaving Even staring lovingly at the boy before brushing some stray curl's out of his face and looking back at the screen.

It wasn't long before the two boys feel asleep like that, cuddled into each other on their couch.
