EPILOGUE 7: Infedility

IS KIM NAMJOON NO LONGER A GOOD BOY?
Only a month after the funeral of his father, Namjoon was spotted leaving Love Maze with a love interest in tow. A love interest that looks nothing like his wife, Yejin. The two are said to be going through a rough patch ever since the funeral.

Namjoon temporarily relocated to Seoul to help his family with the paper work, while his wife and children stayed behind in Busan. Insiders tell us that Soa, now Mrs Jeon, was not happy with the move and has offered to house her brother for the time being. Could it be that she knew about this affair?

The alleged mistress is said to be an employee at Kim Group, but all information has been kept disclosed by the company who have no comment on the recent events. We wonder how this issue will go down for the Kim family. Stay tuned to find out more!

"I really don't know what to say." Taehyung mumbles, throwing the magazine onto the glass table of his home. His eyebrows are pulled downward showing just how unhappy he is to hear about this. "You were the last person I expected this behaviour from, Namjoon-"

"Did you miss the part mentioning I've been having issues in my marriage?" My older brother interuppts, a stern expression on his face.

I scoff at the opposite end of the table, "Issues? Or you failing to deal with your grief like a normal human being?"

This time it's my turn to receive a harsh glare. He clenches his jaw at my statement and I know it hits the spot. Out of all of us, Namjoon has been the most reluctant to attend family therapy. Always too busy to attend or using some lame excuse of having to attend a meeting for Nam Towers. He hasn't been the same since the death of our father.

Taehyung had picked up on it, but didn't do much pushing. When I confronted him about the obvious void in our brother he brushed me off. "I have bigger responsibilities right now. It's his mental health at the end of the day."

The words shocked me. I wanted to slap him for being so selfish. I wanted to remind him that Father would have wanted us to look after Namjoon. Seeing as Seokjin had already left for China, no one else could do it. Mother was in no position to either. At the end of the day, I understood his reasoning, but we were all in pain. We all needed to support each other, not leave everyone to their own vices.

"How I deal with my grief has nothing to do with you or Taehyung-" Namjoon speaks, pointing an accusing finger at me. Despite his action, his face carries a remorseful expression. Glistening eyes meet mine.

"Not when you're ruining the business image with your new reputation." Taehyung passes him the same accusatory tone.

"The two of you don't get it. You'll never get it." He laughs without humour. "You have the perfect lives, married to people you love. Father died, but I still have to live with the huge responsibility I have toward him and this family. It's been years, but I'll never love Yejin. I can't love her."

I sigh, "Then file for a divorce, don't cheat with an employee. That's not how we handle our business, Joon."

Taehyung mentions something about a pregnancy test needing to be done as soon as possible. He looks stern, no playful aura coming from him.

"We used protection." Namjoon interjects.

At this I gasp, eyes bulging into balls of even greater shock. Taehyung let's out a stream of colourful words at the confession. The new revelation adding to the load he has to cover up. All morning media has been raving about the cheating scandal. We didn't know it was this deep.

Namjoon sighs, "I know what it sounds like-"

"You don't understand the gravity of this situation, Kim Namjoon. She's your junior. Hell, she's only a few years younger than Soa. You're married to one of our greatest business partners and you decide it would be a good idea to sleep with someone else? Never mind her employment with the family business. Your association with her has already caused five investors to pull out. That's a lot of damn money we're losing here." Taehyung explains, rising to his feet as he moves around the room.

I notice the shift in his tone, every ounce of calm and respect slowly leaving his body. For the past month Taehyung has tried his best to stay strong and keep the company afloat. Fathers death left a huge financial gap as many people left and found better employment while others just transferred and sold their shares. The lifespan of Kim Group was not looking good.

"I spoke to Yejin this morning. She mentioned nothing about her father pulling out of Kim Group." Namjoon replies, still sounding confident. "Besides, we have an event tonight, hopefully we're able to pull in-"

"Brother, that's not what matters." Taehyung growls, "I gave you the option to divorce as soon as our Father was thrown into the sea. You refused it." Taehyung shakes his head.

My eyes widen at the news. It was so discreet. None of us knew how far Taehyung was really willing to go to rectify Father's mistakes. Pride fills me at the idea of him really fighting for our family's rights. It is what I've been wanting to see all my life.

"I did not need it then-"

"Well you sure as hell won't be getting it now. I advise you to lay low for the next few days and break contact with that girl." He orders before walking out the door, no look or care being thrown at Namjoon as he calls for me to join him.

I pass my older brother a sorry smile, hoping he doesn't show his face tonight.

-

Dim lights cover the room as glasses of wine are passed around. Servers carry trays to each of the attending guests, making sure to avoid all staff working at Kim Group. This includes Taehyung who faces the room with a deep scowl. Since our meeting with Namjoon, my brother has been tense. Frowning all afternoon at anyone who dared look in his direction.

Mother stands beside him, dressed in a golden gown that reflects the dim light at all sides. Her hair hangs loosely to the side and I can admit that she looks breathtaking. It's a different view from the everyday look she had been wearing to our therapy sessions. Tonight she looks like herself. I smile at that.

"My mom just called," Jeongguk slides a hand around my figure. The smell of cigarettes hitting me square in the face. I make a mental note to ask him about it later, "She says Bell won't sleep and has been crying all evening."

I sigh, "I told you one of us should have stayed behind."

He giggles, kissing my cheek, "I know and we can get her in an hours time. Are you okay with that?" He whispers in my ear. I frown at the action. It is highly inappropriate for the event we're at.

I turn to face him, the lazy smile on his face not going unnoticed by me, "Jeongguk, what's going on?"

He shrugs, "What do you mean? Nothing-"

"Are you high right now?" I question, keeping my face neutral to avoid any photos that could show signs of a disagreement.

He straightens up, "No, Soa. I'm just trying to lighten up your mood. I only smell like smoke because I've been talking to people in the smoking area." He admits, defeat falling over his features at my suspicion.

I nod, taking in his eyes. He stares back at mine with sincerity. "I'm sorry. I just don't want anything to go wrong for Taehyung."

He rubs my back, "Nothing's going to happen."

And nothing does. The calm aura that goes around the room is left undisturbed as potential investors turn away every offer or conversation being thrown their way. Jeongguk scowls as the last man gives a stern hand dismissal. I sigh at the uneventful night.

I take a seat next to Jeongguk, leg bouncing as I watch the crowd hoping for an unfamiliar face to show up. The attendance tonight is weak. The weakest it has ever been in the history of Kim Group. It shows a lack of trust in our company and brand. I groan at the reality. The man next to me nurses a glass of wine, blending in with the crowd at that.

"Maybe it's time that we leave." I offer, turning to face his bored expression.

He nods, finding his feet, but pausing as the whole room comes to a standstill.

The scene plays out quite differently than I had imagined in my head. Dressed in a pristine grey suit, hair gelled back, Namjoon enters the room. The dimmed lights don't hide his figure from anyone present, save for a few staff that stand off to the side. He looks handsome, but the smug look he has on his face does not sit well with me.

Beside him, wearing a matching set of grey is Isabella Kang. She too does not look phased by the stares and whispers that go around the room. If anything, her body language shows pride.

I scoff at the two, raking my eyes over my brother who walks straight toward our group. He meets my eyes with a stern nod, then proceeds to stand right beside me, not paying anyone else any greetings. Taehyung is stood at the opposite end, eyebrows drawing downward at Namjoons public display of disrespect. Disrespect towards our company, his wife and our family.

Mother wears an angry expression, shoving a glass of champagne into the hand of the nearest waiter. Her legs move toward us, eyes resembling two slits "How dare you show up here with this woman on your arm?" She reprimands with a low volume, aware that there are eyes and ears ready to write a story on the very apparent tension.

"The invite said to bring a plus one." Namjoon shrugs. "Where's yours, Mother?"

I turn to face him, eyes widening at his tone. The last person he'd ever disrespect is our mother. His date wears the same look of surprise at his subtle insult and dig at our dead father.

"If you're here to start some dramatic shit, I suggest you leave. You've already cost us enough with your foolish act of infedility." Taehyung spits, watching as a disappointment morphs over our brother.

The last person to ever lose his cool is Taehyung. Shock washes over the group as everyone takes in his words. He wears eyes that truly reflect the hurt he feels. His stare is cold as he gazes upon our older brother. No one would have guessed Namjoon could do such a thing. To bring down the legacy our father had built for years is a shame.

With that knowledge, I shift closer to my older brother, passing my hand over his back. I feel how tense he is, muscles contracting the longer my hand stays. "Maybe you should go, Joon. Taehyung has a lot to make up for tonight. I'll have the chef give you a takeaway." I smile, hoping it comes off soft enough for the cameras to assume no bad blood between us. Taehyung wears the same calm expression, not looking as bothered as I know he feels.

Namjoon stays silent for a moment, then shakes his head. "No, I deserve to be here as much as either of you. If you have a problem with my presence, you leave." He speaks, staring at Taehyung.

My hand falls from his back, mouth open in shock at his response. "Namjoon, please. We need this night to be a success-"

At that moment, a huge gasp spreads through the room. I stop my sentence turning to face the commotion. The crowd opens up revealing the last two people I'd expect to make an an entrance. My eyes widen, mouth sputtering open at the sight of Mr Nam and Yejin walking into the room. Their eyes are drawn into straight lines as they amble toward our group.

"Oh shit." Jimin whistles lowly.

I turn to my brother, sure to pull his hand away from the woman he stands beside. Said girl makes no effort to create space, considering the drama that is about to take place. She stands upright, eyes not turning away from the approaching family.

"Yejin," I smile, hoping to ease whatever tension she carries.

"I need to speak with you, Soa." She speaks, not meeting my eyes. Instead her gaze focuses on Namjoon. Her lips form a subtle pout at his lack of attention, pulling her eyes to look at his partner. Her gaze hardens at the girl and I wince internally, knowing the embarrassment and hurt she must be feeling.

I gulp, looking at her father with eyes that beg for him not to create a scene. The last thing we need is a scene that could cause more investors to pull out.

"Mr Nam, I don't recall you sending a response of you attending this event." Jeongguk speaks, tone holding a lightness. The crowd is at a standstill, attention consumed by the conversation.

The man in question turns to my husband, "I was not intending to do so until my son-in-law decided to disrespect his wife." He stops and passes his eyes over Namjoon. "Say, Jeon, were you aware of this affair?"

I frown at the question, feeling Jeongguk tense next to me.

"Mr Nam, allow me to show you to your table." Taehyung smiles for the first time this evening. It's fake, but it does the trick in getting the old man to take a seat at the furthest point of the hall.

-

"Please tell me you didn't know about his affair." Yejin starts, tears already forming in her eyes.

I sigh, pulling her even further into the empty hallway. Rose gold walls shield us from the guests that stand only a few meters away. "I promise you we all found out about it today."

She nods, attempting to wipe her escaping tears. It breaks me to see her cry because of my brother. She doesn't deserve this. Even though they have never confessed love for each other, they always showcased respect and a mutual understanding.

"I can't believe, Namjoon." She whimpers, failing to truly conceal her feelings. "The boys have been asking me all sorts of questions. He could have had the decency to divorce me." She sniffles, wiping at her nose with her bare hands.

I pout at her appearance. Yejin is not one to breakdown. Seeing her lose it all makes me sad. Knowing my brother caused the mess angers me.

"I'm so sorry, Yejin. Whatever happens, please don't forget that you've still got me." I smile, holding onto her hands for comfort.

She nods, pulling away at the sight of Jeongguk. He passes her a small smile. It looks apologetic and my eyes frown, but I don't say anything.

"We're about to start the bidding." He speaks.

Yejin smiles at him, moving before the two of us. I watch her figure hurry down the hall, but my hand stops Jeongguk's. He interlocks our fingers at the movement.

He turns to face me with kind eyes. "Yes, Love?"

I hum, "Did you know Namjoon was having an affair?"

We have no time to beat around the bush. Especially not when so much is on the line. He stares at me for a second. Big eyes taking in my own. He wears a guilty expression and immediately I scoff at the revelation, already knowing it to be true.

"Wait," Jeongguk begs, pulling me toward a wall. His body cages mine from any eyes that could see. I'm sure it's a sight the paparazzi would love to capture. "I had my suspicions, not full proof evidence or anything."

I push at his shoulders, "So you keep secrets now, Jeon?"

"Not, Jeon." He groans, knowing the name always comes up when I'm upset at him. He meets my eyes again, body still closing in on mine. His eyes look apologetic. It's the same gaze he gave Yejin. "I saw them together once, baby. I thought it was business. Please believe me."

I stare into his eyes, sighing when I find nothing. "Okay."

There's fondness as he searches my face. A small smile lines his lips. "Kiss and make up?" He connects our foreheads.

I pull away, but he pulls back connecting our lips, letting out a laugh at my easy submission. Arms around his neck, he comes closer, not allowing me to put up a fight. I feel his body press against mine, wrapping a leg around his waist. We move together, hands all over each other. It's fast the way we move. Jeongguk starts to grind and my body reacts at the surge of pleasure.

"Not here, baby." I moan, kissing at his neck.

He hums, "Bathroom?" His movements don't stop, grinding becomes even faster as the need to release builds up. His hips roll into mine, pulling out mewls from me. Heavy breathing fills the air as he continues with the motion.
"I miss you." He moans, resting his head in my neck.

I know what he means by that. With fathers death and the newborn baby, we didn't have much time to be together. He was busy with work and I was raising Bell, or vice versa. It's been a tough time for us all.

"Later, I promise." My breathe rolls onto his head, skin still burning from his touch.

His eyes meet mine, body pulling to a standstill. Heavy lidded eyes gaze upon me with lust. "I'll hold you to that."

-

Jeongguk stalks up the stairs to our bedroom, letting out a huff with each step he takes. He's angry and though I understand it, it's unnecessary. From behind, I frown at his behaviour not sure why fetching our baby had to be so dramatic.

Mr Jeon happened to be home when we stopped by the Jeon Mansion. Of course, upon seeing his son, the older man could not help but let out a few rude remarks. Statements Jeongguk replied to without caring for respect. After all, their relationship had long since deteriorated into the hatred they both carry now.

I carry Bell, slowly walking behind the man that has not said a word since we've left his childhood home. The baby is wide awake, letting out gurgles as we move. I smile at her cuteness.

Upon entering the bedroom, I take note of Jeongguk who stands at his dresser, already unbuttoning his shirt with haste. At the action I assume the proposal of time alone to be off the table.

"Hey, you're at least supposed to greet your daughter before going to bed." I scold, watching as he stops.

With a sigh, he ambles toward the two of us, a smile forming on his face at the sight of an excited Bell. Her smile widens at the sight of her father. Gurgles become even louder when he places a chaste kiss on her rosy cheek.

"Hey baby," He whispers, "Daddy missed you today."

She squeals, reaching for his hands. I watch the interaction with fondness. It's the same love he carries for Nari and Jeongsan that he shows Bell. Putting aside his anger and annoyance to make sure she never sees him without a smile.

"Hold her," I prompt, knowing he's less likely to go to bed if she's in his arms.

"Soa, I don't have the energy to entertain her right now. Please just-"

"Hold her." I press, knowing if anyone can put him in a better mood, it's the baby.

Jeongguk sighs, pulling her into his chest while I smile in satisfaction. He eyes me, not pleased with my scheme, but unable to voice his feelings in fear that Bell might become upset and cry.

I move toward the dresser, removing all pieces of jewellery from my body. Jeongguk hums in the background, eyes still hiding contact with my own. I ignore his stare, knowing that it could lead to an argument. The house has been tense ever since I'd received my portion of the will from Fathers death.

Gettting dressed into a fresh set of sleepwear, I move toward my husband. Silk gown flowing behind me as I take a seat beside his figure. Jeongguk opens his other arm for me to join in their cuddling session, looking less aggravated than he did before.

"I'm sorry for taking my frustration out on your earlier." He mumbles.

I shake my head, "Don't apologize for your feelings. It's okay."

Bell makes a sound similar to a sigh of contentment causing both of us to giggle.

"Can we still do the thing tonight?" He asks, voice lowering in volume.

"I promised we would." I smile, taking the baby from his arms, careful not to disturb her too much.

Jeongguk follows as I lay her in her crib, kissing her cheek one last time. He smiles when she lets out a small giggle, being the cutie she is.

On the dresser my phone buzzes, pulling both of our attention off of Bell.

From Taehyung:
Hey Soa, I need you and Jk to come in tomorrow. The Nam family is filing for divorce and want all the shares Father left Namjoon in Busan as compensation for his actions. If we lose Busan, we might as well lose Kim Group as a whole.
