Joshua could not have asked for a better summer evening: the wind lapping at his neck and collar, combing feverishly through his hair, as he rode shotgun along the coast, fingers intertwined with his boyfriends. It was almost too surreal for him to take in, given the last couple weeks have dragged him through hell and back, stretched him to his limits and left him wrung out to hang in the sun. He knew being a journalist was hard, but his boss chewing his ass out over a simple quote felt unreasonable; but, yet again, it's voting season, and the people in his city are ravenous when it comes to ballots.

He felt his boyfriend squeeze his hand. "Stop thinking about work." He chuckled and pulled Joshua's hand up to kiss the back of it. "We're taking his trip for you to forget about that stressful shit."

"Sorry, Cheol," He leaned his head back and basked in the wind, soft waves flowing over his face and caressing his neck. "Kinda hard when you're supposed to be listening and watching all the time."

He smiled when he felt a pinch on his hand. Joshua knew the consequences of becoming a journalist in a small beach-side town, yet he still took the chance and became one of the biggest in the city. That title, however, came with a demanding boss and endless hours - and he really means endless. Joshua was instructed to be on duty the entire time, from the moment he woke up to the second he fell asleep. He was aware he sounded like a bratty teenager when he would walk in his and Seungcheol's shared apartment, and complain and complain about the work day.

Joshua always seemed to make a problem out of something so mundane, weave a dramatic story from something insignificant, and perhaps that's what drove him to become a journalist.

The car jerked forward, and Joshua nearly hit his head on the dash.

   "What was that for?!"

"What was I just telling you?" Seungcheol turned in his seat and planted his arm on the steering wheel, palm catching his head.

   Joshua's mouth zipped closed.

"This is why I keep telling you to talk to that damn boss of yours." The older reached into the back of the convertible and retrieved a bottle of white wine and two empty glasses.

The others chuckled. "You always have that on deck?"

"'Course." He uncorked the wine with minimal effort and poured some for the both of them. Seungcheol clinked his glass against his boyfriends and took a bashful sip, Joshua mirroring the action yet his was joyful. "But you should really get that boss man in check."

Joshua groaned. "I thought you said not to talk about work, Mr. Choi." He prodded the man's chest. The younger brought his legs onto the seat when the older giggled.

"How about I tell you something that happened today while I was teaching, and you returning it by telling me all the shit your boss has been making you do."

"Cheol, its been months since this started, I'm doing fine -"

"Babe, I want the bags under your eyes gone. I want your desk to have pictures of us on it, not piles of unfinished articles." He cupped Joshua's cheek. "I want the shine back in your eyes."

Joshua leaned into the touch and sighed, relishing in its warmth against the breeze.

"Fine." He opened his eyes just as Seungcheol ripped his hand away, took a large gulp of wine, and began eagerly re-enacting something that happened at his work.

But Joshua didn't listen; he was too busy staring at the way Seungcheol's eyes lit up whilst he talked about the bubbly 10-year-olds that he works with, watching his cheeks turn a rosy pink from the excitement of one kid finally stepping out of his comfort zone, and how his lips didn't stop moving, always stretching in the happiest grin. Joshua found Seungcheol so utterly handsome while talking about the things he loves, that it stung a tad when he thought about his own work.

It was been almost a year since Joshua got appointed a new boss from the company, and it was around that time, he realized, that he stopped coming home content. There was always something aching, a monstrous headache or a raging cramp in his leg, there was always something to bitch about, whether a minor inconvenience or a large setback, and everything he complained about had a source: his boss. Yet the few times Joshua's boss wasn't at the company, the air felt lighter, a little less suffocating and that he could finally breathe. He didn't want to admit it, so he bundled it all up and swallowed it, held it down and dealt with it all for months, yet he was scared to ask the president for someone new because he loved the company he works for.

But as Joshua looked up and saw how Seungcheol looked like fifth graders beaming with joy after finishing their painted clay pots, it finally clicked into place for Joshua, and it surged his with determination.

   "I'll do it."

Seungcheol paused and dropped his hand. "Do what?"

"I'll talk with my boss, maybe even the president if I can't get through to him."

The older gasped and smiled so wide that Joshua had to too, as if he was taking some joy from himself to lessen the load on his boyfriend. He pulled the younger in for a hug, and the latter had to stop himself from crying because 'God, it's been so long since I've had a Cheol Hug.'

Seungcheol pulled back with his hand around the younger's neck. "What made you change your mind?"

"You have so much fun teaching. Watching you talk about your day made me realize that I, too, want to have as much fun as the kids do when retelling my day to you." Joshua pinched the other's nose, and they both giggly shyly.

"You know, Teacher Appreciation Week is next week, and one of the days allows you to bring a family member for the day, so I was wondering if you could take a day off and come help me teach a painting lesson?" His thumb caressed Joshua's jaw, and even if he was going to saw otherwise, the look in Seungcheol's eyes threw that idea out the window.

   "I would love too."

Both men leaned in and shared a deep kiss, one of relief and completion, one that felt like a jolt of electricity and a wave of warm water. When Seungcheol bit Joshua's lip, the latter eased back and profusely blushed, diving down to hide his face in the crook of the older's neck. Seungcheol smiled so wide that he felt like his cheeks would pop and ruffled the younger's hair.

"You're so cute." Seungcheol murmured, and he felt Joshua's head turn.

Joshua gasped. "When did we end up here?" Before them was a swirling sunset of yellow and purple and orange, and below that, a perfectly smooth, sandy beach with soft waves splashing and churning along the coast. They were parked on a cliff overlooking it, and Seungcheol barked out a laugh at Joshua's question.

"You mean to tell me you haven't seen this view yet? We've been here for like an hour already!"

Joshua slapped the older's chest and reached from his wine glass. He took a languid sip and spoke. "So, Mr. Choi, what do you intend on painting the day I visit?"

Both men looked at each other and smiled sweetly, Seungcheol quickly bending down to peck the younger's head.

"That I already know," He looked out towards the water. "And you how about you, Reporter Hong? Know what your next story is going to be?"

Joshua looked out at the pastel sky, the sparkling sand, the rippling water, and sighed.

   "That, too, I already know."
