Rein would have been lying if she said she wasn't excited to see Namjoon for their first day of work together. After all, he was the reason she signed the contract. The moment she woke up, her mind had gone to him almost too quickly. She never remembered thinking about anyone this much.

But, then again, she had never understood the concept of infatuation until then, either.

She opened the doors to the Bighit building, breathing in the scent of professionalism it perpetually seemed to retain. From there, she went up through the elevator, walked through the halls and into the writing studio, where Yoongi and Namjoon were already hard at work. (what Yoongi was working for, she had no clue.) However, upon hearing the door open, Namjoon spun around in his chair with a grin.

"You're a whole two minutes late, Ms. Jones," he said, patting the seat next to him. Rein shrugged off her coat and hung it up next to Namjoon's scarf, the one she got for him on Christmas day.

"Oh yeah? Plan on doing something about that?" she said teasingly as she sat next to him and pulled out her lyric sheets.

"I just might," he said under his breath, making her tense up. Usually, she would have thought of a biting remark to say back, but she was at a loss for words this time.

"I... What do you mean by that?" she sputtered. Yoongi looked over from his chair lazily.

"What's going on over there?" he asked. They both moved away from each other and went back to their screens and sheets.

"Nothing," Namjoon said as casually as he could manage. "Just going over some stuff for my album." Yoongi turned back around with a grunt, satisfied. Rein poked Namjoon on the shoulder.

"Do you want to actually get to work now?" He chuckled.

"That would be preferable. I had a few ideas for some songs already, and I see that you did, as well. Since your contract says you have to feature in one song, you can help me with that today. Deal?"

"Sure." They got to brainstorming and in a matter of thirty minutes or so, they came up with a strong title song.

sunlight.

I just wanted to be loved
I was naive and so eager
Never knew what that was until you

You call me fate but I call you something more
I can see the stars in your eyes
You're something to love, something to adore
You're my light, my sun.

Can I recognize love now?
The friends I made inside myself
Washed away without a thought
Why is that? How do I know me?

You call me fate but I call you something more
I can see the stars in your eyes
You're something to love, something to adore
You're my light, my sun.

Rein couldn't remember whose idea it was to make a love song, and whose idea it was to call the subject of the song his "light", his "sun". She dismissed the possibility that the song could be about her, though she wasn't sure why disappointment lapped at her heels in gentle waves when she did so. All she knew was that it was short and sweet, and much easier to write for than BTS. It was free of format, letting the two of them have more creative liberties.

And besides, it was just a stupid love song. Anyone could make a love song these days. Especially someone like Kim Namjoon, who probably churned a dozen out an hour.

"Isn't this a little... Much?" Rein whispered, quiet enough so that Yoongi wouldn't hear. (not that it mattered. He had his headphones on and was too busy to cockblock them)

"What do you mean? It's fine," Namjoon replied.

"But... With all the dating rumors and the pictures fans caught us in... What if we get into more drama?" she asked. She scooted in a little closer until her lips were inches from his. "What if they start theorizing?"

In a burst of confidence, Rein slowly slid her hand up his thigh until it reached Namjoon's zipper. His breathing became slightly irregular, but nothing too suspicious.

"Easy now..." he murmured, drumming his hand against the table in an attempt to occupy himself, though he made no move to stop her. He stiffened as Rein's fingers brushed the inside of his pants.

"I asked you a question, didn't I?"

"I... Shit. What did you ask again?" She paused, wondering if she should go further. When her better judgment went against that idea, she took his hand out of his pants and put some distance between them, smiling innocently when Namjoon looked at her in awe.

"Nothing at all. I do have something to say, though," she said.

He blinked off the shock and asked, "Uh, and what's that?"

"I know you did it just made Bighit draft that contract to keep me here, which I do appreciate, but I hate feeling useless. Is there anything specific I can do while I'm here for two months, other than 'collaborate' with you on lyrics?" she said. He smirked, putting his dimples on proud display.

"You could entertain me..." he said huskily, his turn to tease her. She gulped and pulled away before he got any other ideas.

"Namjoon, come on. Be serious for a minute. What am I supposed to do here?" she asked, frustrated.

"You can do a lot. You can give me song ideas, write some lyrics, be there for moral support... Anything, really," he said with a reassuring smile. "And I wasn't kidding about entertaining me. I'll show you a good time." He leaned in a little closer, putting his lips close to her ear. "You know I can." The vibrations from his voice sent tingles down her spine.

"Namjoon... Not here..."

"It's not like anyone's looking," he whispered, motioning to Yoongi, who looked like he was half-asleep in front of the computer. Rein smirked and pulled away slightly.

"Would you like a sneak peek of what you should be expecting?" she asked. He didn't have to answer before she got up to straddle his lap. It all felt like a game between them, seeing who could go the furthest without getting caught.

It was hot in a way. In many ways.

They were in the midst of toying with each other when Yoongi turned around and eyed the two of them. The drowsiness from earlier apparently vanished into thin air.

"God, just fuck already..." he muttered, shaking his head like a disappointed mother. Before either of them could explain their actions, he put on his headphones and concentrated on the computer screen in front of him once more. Rein hopped off Namjoon's lap without a word and sat in her own chair.

"I think I want to go for a more melancholy approach for the next song," she said smartly, eyeing Yoongi to see if he was still listening. When it was obvious he didn't care enough to do so, she continued, "I want it to have a vulnerable sound so that people will think they have more of an in on what Kim Namjoon really is."

"So, what are you thinking?" Namjoon asked, scribbling down some notes already.

"I'm thinking the theme can be... Loneliness, or something like that." The gears in his head started to turn until he finally had a coherent idea.

"Got it," he said, and began writing.

lonely.

nail in my head
my brain feels like it's shattered
pounding until I'm dead
when it was all
said and done, I had no more to say
but maybe I had to?

palm trees drip with gloom
lavender skies spell my doom
all I see is a void
except for that word
written like a tattoo.
lonely.

stopped biting my nails
but my thoughts still have those teeth
gnawing away until I fail
people with me
but I feel like no one's there to see
I was born to die alone

palm trees drip with gloom
lavender skies spell my doom
all I see is a void
except for that word
written like a tattoo.

Lonely.

They high-fived each other when the rough draft was done.

"A little angsty, but I love it!" Rein said, reading over the lyrics again. Namjoon stood up and stretched.

"Is this the song you want the feature in?" he asked.

"Definitely," she replied. Leaning over her shoulder, he gave her a quick peck on the cheek, as if to say, your wish is my command. The sudden show of affection caught her off-guard, but it was welcome, nonetheless.

"What was that for?" she asked, spinning around in her chair to face him.

"It was for you. Who else?" he said with a grin. She stood up, then tapped Yoongi on the shoulder.

"What's up?" he said, giving her his signature gummy smile.

"Let's go out for lunch," she said to the both of them, "and I'm not taking no for an answer." Yoongi and Namjoon looked at each other, then turned to Rein.

"Yeah, I needed a break. Good timing," Namjoon said. They put on their jackets and masks, not even knowing where they were going to eat.

"Since I was invited to this thing, I'm not paying," Yoongi said.

"Oh, it's okay. I was planning to pay," Rein said. They were now walking down the street, studying the shops and bakeries next to them, trying their hardest to look as inconspicuous as possible. Namjoon even made sure to put on a hat over his magenta hair to avoid suspicion.

"No, no, I wouldn't make you do that. I'll cover it," Namjoon said.

"I'm the one who invited you guys! I'm paying."

"I insist, Ms. Jones."

"No, really-"

"I don't care who pays, as long as I get my food!" Yoongi exclaimed. "Also, try not to act so disgustingly... cute. It's still a secret, isn't it?" Rein reddened.

"What's a secret?" she stammered.

"We have no idea what you're talking about," Namjoon added. Yoongi gave them a skeptical glance before gesturing to a nearby restaurant.

"Whatever. Let's eat here," he said. They agreed, and as Namjoon paused to let Rein pass, the pair made eye contact. Though brief, it said a thousand words.

Too close was most of it.
